We were blessed to have the music, which Alan made with the Bay City Rollers! Despite the fame & popularity, which they achieved, Alan would still humbly refer to himself as "just a plumber from Edinburgh who got lucky"! Many of us around the world mourn the passing of this lovely man! A part of my youth left with Alan, but he is now at peace, with no pain! My heart & prayers go out to Eileen, Alan's siblings & the rest of his family! R.I.P., Alan! We will never let the music die! KOR!

Very apt. (I was too young for BCR). He was a gentleman as I recall. ‘Saw him around the outskirts of Stirling in the late 90s when I lived there. One of the nicer folk and a handsome turn into the bargain. RIP Alan. Xxxxxx
Alan was a lovely soul who never bought into the bullshit. I met him in 1975 as a young girl and he was lovely without ever needing to be. RIP X

I grew up with the Bay City Rollers, as my sister was a huge fan. I still listen to their music today at age 50 as I still have a lot of old vinyl from the 70s. He was memorable as a "leftie" who played a right handed bass upside down. I also play the bass guitar and have done for nearly 40 years. Very sad to hear of Alan's death.

BCR. What can I say ? The first single I ever bought was Money Honey with Maryanne on the flipside, and I still have it. My favourite band growing up, and one who still hold a place in my heart today with those special memories. Condolences to Alan's family and close friends. In my prayers

He was so good looking. RIP..what kind of an illness did he get ? Sounds strange to say he contacted an Illness in Mexico but not say what it was. Can you only get it while in Mexico ?
