Great guide. I subbed because of it. Wish all of the guides out there were this concise and informative without all of the filler. Taught me a few things I didn’t know about the game even though I’m up to the final stage. I’ll be interested in seeing what future guides you make.
The build diversity is what makes this game so brilliant with most pieces of gear asking you to make a build around it (though boots tend to suck in general). Defensive stats can also be good on any character as a scars of toil build is viable for any class. There are definitely some challenges (quests) though where you'll want to avoid getting abilities, but I will admit, playing like that can get stale after a while. Also, I wouldn't personally recommend oblivion potioning a stat unless you really, really don't want it since it does cost a level to do it. My current favorite build is a burn/electrify build with fire and thunder rings and taking fire and lightning abilities... All the white, red, orange, and blue damage popups are beautiful to behold. I still take transfixion if no fire or lightning ones come up though... transfixion is OP as heck. Transfixion with both ability upgrades has lagged my game before. It's the only thing in this game I've seen with any-direction coverage with enough multi shot upgrades of course. It probably needs a nerf, but I'll be sad if they do it. Oh also the further you get, the more attack speed > damage since the blessings make it so your base damage is pretty strong as is, you just need to do that damage faster.
I have so many builds I want to try out using the different gear pieces. RNG hasn't been with me so there's still a few I need to unlock. I'm gonna have to try the fire and thunder build you're mentioning here. I have around 20 quests left until I have all of them completed so all I'm doing now is trying to create broken builds. The hours just fly by. Totally agree on attack speed as well! I still grab the strength trait whenever I see it just to get a buff seeing as it works for all abilities as well.
I think investing a couple of points in pickup range is a good investment as it makes you level up faster since it picks up gems from a farther distance when you have aoe abilities active and are consistently dodging enemies
Yes! I usually use the pickup range as a dump trait if there's nothing else useful and I'm out of re-rolls. I find that each stage has enough magnet gloves to help you get all the experience orbs without investing to much into pickup range.
Great review. Very useful and detailed. In your experience, did the character always end up overwhelmed with floods of opponents or is it possible to get past them as you evolve? Seems to me that you level up but it doesn't get any easier as you evolve.
@@LeNoLi. It's optimal for the first 30 minutes when you can kill enemies in one shot, but then being a shieldmaiden with full defense and block, aura, and main weapon maxed is better for the bosses. So, it depends on the situation. Different builds work in different situations.
@@ES-qm5hr once you unlock enough traits and gear and invest into blessings, the boss is just a damage sponge. the first boss is probably the most threatening at that point, especially if you don't weaken it. the other two become trivialized since the skill ceiling to avoid their dmg is so low. having enough dps to kill a boss in a minute or less is the safest way to complete the stage.
Cheers! I try my best to get straight to the point. Take note I’ll be doing a variety of games on this channel but HoT will be featured for as long as I enjoy it.
Damage and attack speed are maxed out only at the beginning, in order to reach some semblance of damage per second earlier. And live longer. In the middle of the game (when you have already played a certain number of hours): You strive to give preference to a certain ability, and cover its weak points with other abilities. For example, you notice that magma balls do a good job of clearing the crowd, but they don’t do enough damage to bosses. And you take the needles. And later you realize that if magma balls kill the entire crowd, then lightning from the sky has good damage to one target. After that you start managing potions and level rewards. Very little has been said about this. At certain levels you are given special rewards, character traits. 8 cleric armor, or cooldown and attack speed for all sorceress lightning, for example. It is at these levels that it is wise to use rerolls and memory potions in order to take more traits than you are supposed to, and exactly those that you need. You only have 3 doubling potions, and essentially your build is based on them. You must firmly decide that you want to double before the start of the race. Well, or if you're a fan, then double the funniest effects. The potion of rerolling things is a special thing, try to roll the red chests in order to pull out an enhanced version of the item you have, or even duplicate the ring with its more enhanced counterpart. Separately about abilities. In the beginning, other than lightning from the sky and meteors with needles, most of the abilities are bad. But if you are patient and play from them, you will unlock a significant boost. So even the spheres will start playing (especially the spheres). About protection: HP regen, block and defense only increase if they are at least not weak. Always take +10% to defense and block, because this is just a crazy upgrade to your effective health. Separately, about the built-in perks for defense, regen and survival - it is better to always take them, then the races will be almost impossible to lose. About the outfit: In addition to the amulet for finding herbs, I especially want to note the ring that gives buffs and throws healing. It will give a newbie a good boost no matter what he wants to do. It will be more useful than a ring with 45% critical damage in 90% of cases, while you have not yet discovered everything.
As a newbie who got hooked by this game, this was quite helpful, thanks! I saw some videos where they unlocked synergies or sth with leveling the skills, I'd appreciate a guide for that!
I'm glad to hear that! I do have a video about abilities planned so that will be coming. In the meantime I can reveal that all upgrades and unlocks in the game are gotten by doing quests. The upgrades usually comes the "deal x damage with ability y" quests.
it was a good rundown. was looking a bit more into the proficencys. it locks out another or what! feels like i have to memorize em. if i dont i just swap between 2 n think ill get upgrades but remove an existing? what do i know its klunky
isn't more eficient wait for the first elite, get the scroll, level up the hability to lvl 3 and then take the scroll of the map? this way you can secure the special upgrade faster (i think i just have 2 days playing)
Cheers! The Cupbearer is unlocked in the Ember Grounds and the Cupbearer in the Forgotten Viaducts. You should have the quests to unlock both of them as soon as you unlock the maps.
6 bug reports, 3 of them reported months ago and not fix yet... Like reverberant tinkture it doesnt work properly with traits like bulkwark, if you use the potion in 1 lvl, you will not recieve lvl5 of that trait... OR if you use the potion of memories to lock 1 skill trait because you see 2 skill traits at once, the locked trait doesnt count if its the 3rd trait to upgrade the skill... you will need 4 skill traits to do it...
One thing to mention is that for instance +10% damege bonus is only added to your starting damage bonus so it have less value the more you unlock in the hub area. In other words it scale from your base damage not your total damage.
I just got the game I unlocked the well guy by accident I tried putting a ring I got off a boss into the well but when I go back to the little home base he does not offer the ring for sale. How does this work? No idea where the potion guy is yet but so far enjoy the game minus those 2 things

How the hell do you unlock the Wellkeeper? I found him on the map, he says to look for a key. 2 hours and 2000 kills later all around his cage, no key...
There should be an icon on the edge of your screen leading you to the Wellkeeper. Once you talk to him the key should appear as an icon as well. Follow it and you'll find it.
Thanks for this, however I never used wasd to get around before, so I turned on the mouse instead. I just die anyway. I guess I just suck, but the game is much harder than I thought.

I have more tips & tricks for you all here: ruclips.net/video/9N0FzAiBJxc/видео.html
You can now send flasks through the well without using up the well, so it's always preferable to sent off flasks before items.
If you have agony enabled you can use the well infinitely. Allowing you bring multiple flasks and items home

The Shield Maiden is a beast if you invest in defensive stats, you can make a build which is basically immune to damage with it.
Oh yeah I had a juggernaut run like that recently! I'll be featuring that in my upcoming class video.
My first run with Shield Maiden was my first level clear Ember Grounds
the best defense is a great offense. killing stuff off screen is the safest way to play this game.
