This looks fantastic!!! I really like it. This could be used in a version for a dorm room as well! Great idea!!!!!
@@kscheuerman5378 I absolutely love it. I have painted two rentals TriCorn Black Matt Sherwin Williams just an accent wall behind my bed. The rest of the room I painted Amazing Grey Sherwin Williams, the color looks more taupe or a greige. The first rental house the owner loved it so he left it painted. The 2nd I'm not sure I never heard one way or the other. I'm in a high rise now downsized all my kids are grown and starting there own family. I have this enormous one bedroom and you make me miss my signature black accent wall. My bedroom is so big I didn't want to paint and then would have to paint it back neutral. You gave me a wonderful idea, thanks for the tutorial.
Wow! This is a gr8 idea and looks phenomenal! Question: how did you keep the edges smooth since you used scissors to cut? Oh and, can velcro be used instead of tape and how did you figure out the size of the panels and contact paper ratio?
The plane design i lick I also work from Qatar
@@aquafina6544it seems to me that velcro would be too bulky.
It looks like a tuxedo wall! Very classy. Excellent work!
Exactly !!!
Tuxedo wall! That's the perfect name for it, Thank you!
Imagining a realtor saying, "And the master bedroom boasts a lovely tuxedo wall..."
@@SmidBeach
"I'll take it."
I agree ❤❤
The shine of the contact paper is enhancing the black wall.
Where have you been all my adult renting life?!?! Exactly what I needed
Can I just say I love that you include the trial and error and experimentation portions of your DIY. Thanks! Because many times DIY is not easy as 1-2-3!
I'm so surprised by how much I love the end result. I don't usually like dark walls. But your room is beautiful.
Same! I don’t usually like dark walls, but love this room now!
I think the black is more luxurious. The matt finish and gloss tape looks pretty nice
The panels actually look more luxurious than just painting! The contact paper underneath gives depth and dimension. This is amazing!
I think this is the first video I've seen that hasn't use contact paper. Genius!
I think this idea gives more depth and texture to your walls. Much more than any paint alone, could give.
This would be great even for those who own their homes but don't want the hassle of repainting if they get tired of the wall color! You come up with the greatest ideas. Thanks :)
Really beautiful end result Isabelle. It certainly does look elegant and classy. Mission accomplished! Who doesn't want to live in their very own boutique hotel?!!
The slight contrast between the cardboard and contact paper looks really good and makes it look way more expensive than it really is!
Lol why is the cat sitting there saying,"Yes I did it. And????"💯😂. Great idea for the temporary focal wall in your bedroom.
What a Cutie Von Cutie !!
LOL
Had same problem heres my solution;
Goodwill every other week is 50% off on Saturdays, looked for king size black sheets and it took 2 Saturday's and 4 goodwills, got black push pins , a king flat sheet is perfect size , ii just hung pinned ,got to window used razor knife cut around window , push pin on all 4 corners done !! Have had it up couple years ,when I do deep cleaning I just pull off wall throw in washer dryer
Easy and cheap!
totally agree with you - while this is absolutely stunning / elegent, like a stripe down the side of a man's tuxedo pants, holy crap - what a lot of work - when you could put up fabric for far, far less work.
I love the New Black Wall. I like it better than the white even, but most of all I like that cute little kitten that is just super awesome, cuteness overload. 😊😊😊
Wow black makes the room look so much more luxurious
Wow! This is ingenious! I love how, as one commenter stated, "it looks like a tuxedo wall"...it really does! That cardboard gives it texture and dimension. Absolutely classy and beautiful! Thanks for sharing these renter-friendly makeover hacks. 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
What I loved most is the "someone" that crossed the boards
Me too 😊😊😊
I prefer the Beautiful black wall way more than the basic white wall before the update..👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🇺🇸👍🏾
I'm a renter and I have always wanted to add color to my boring white walls. I love this idea
This is actually one of the best design tip videos I’ve ever seen. Very practical and doable!!
I hate painting. It’s always so messy. I love your idea. It’s beautiful.
This is absolutely beautiful. I hate the color of my walls, but CANNOT paint. This accent wall will not only look gorgeous, but will draw the eye from the other wall color. Thanks for these amazing renter friendly ideas.
The black wall makes everything pop. Very classy but also masculine. Could work for both guys and girls. Koodos to that creative brain of yours!
Omg you’re a genius!!!! 👍👏 It looks like a luxury hotel room, I can’t find enough words to say just how clever and creative your are!!
I absolutely love these talk thru videos. You never half ass your tutorials. Thank you.
the black was a great choice. It gives the room depth and makes it look grounded and luxurious
Commercial interrupted me...now back to what I wanted to see at the moment you u used the black tape adhesive.
Thank you for doing the time consuming labor and hidden cost.
This seems like it might be a great solution to go on cinderblock walls to make them flat looking without putting up drywall. 🤔 I love it!
I like your suggestion. Have a possible application for it. Love the creativity, but wouldn't it have been less expensive to paint? It is simple and the white wall could be restored quickly if you decided to move.
@@letlive8014 It would be hard to get it back to white walls though, because it could take multiple coats (and lots of time/effort) to fully cover up black paint. Also, the paneling effect of the matte and shiny makes the wall look more unique and elegant than just a flat black painted wall.
Classy indeed. The matte and shiny combination looks amazing. I’m about to move into a friends unfinished basement and this will work so perfectly together. I love it.
I can see myself with tape and black paint in my hair and scrunched up contact paper all over the room! I never could have executed this project! Good work.
I loved your idea so much (brilliant) that I recreated it using a roll of textured paintable wallpaper that was cheaper than the ramboard, it is gorgeous and I love the live the texture! Thank you!
I was thinking of doing the same thing! Do you paint the wallpaper? Did you still leave space between the panels? I'd love to know how it turned out!
This is-like most of your stuff-perfect. You should start a consulting business where you just walk into people's space and make them better, regardless of whether they're renters or owners, kind of similar to what The Home Edit does for organization.
I'm personally npt super into dark walls, but I LOVE the matte and gloss effect! That gave an otherwise somber wall so much life and depth and texture!
Thanks for sharing your experiment; this is a doable way around painting a wall rental. Now I have new ideas for my place!
Cheers to new ideas for your place!
Black wall looks absolutely stunning.
Who is so empty that they gave this a thumbs down? SMH! This is brilliant no matter if you own or rent! Necessity is the mother of invention! Your creativity is boundless! Thank you for sharing and inspiring us all! Simply Magnificent!
The stripes on the wall remind's me of the stripes in a great tuxedo. Excellent choice. It inspires me to create a Paris themed bedroom.
Love love love this idea!!! I've been a renter my entire adult life and faced white wall after white wall forever. Now I have a chance to get a new look and maybe a bit of my own personality in my space! Thank you...
I love the dramatic effect from the black paint.
Wow... I was worried 😟 This accent wall looks very NICE! Your patience for details is remarkable!
Such a clever idea. Love the combination of glossy and matte finishes. Really enhances the custom look. And the color possibilities are endless!
I really like this. I also think the stripe effect makes it more elegant. I’m a renter also, and will definitely be trying this out in my place.
What a fabulous option to prevent having to repaint when moving out of a rental.
I Love it!! Black walls against the wood headboard, nightstand and white bedding is classy!
You're a genius! Beautiful results and an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for sharing this idea.
Looooove this wall I think I will do one. So tell us about the side table you made from scraps
😀😀
😮😮
😀😀
😁😁
Love this idea . My mind is going 100 miles an hour thinking of all of the ways I could use this idea . 🥂 here's to you girl .
Omg, I miss this channel. I used to follow all videos but then I stop seeing the videos until now... so excited
Loooove the black wall! The contrast of the contact paper and cardboard pieces looks really nice!
wow, such a creative solution and you executed it so well! i love how you explained your thought process about picking the cardboard for this project, so helpful to see how others generate ideas and find inspo!
That headboard is incredible. I love how the black makes it pop!
Wow it looks even better than if it was simply painted. You are so creative!
I love the horizontal stripes on bed w/ vertical stripes on wall 😁
Can you give us an update after a while?
Has any one ever told you that you’re BRILLIANT! Turned out Beautifully
This is good for me as a homeowner on a budget and can’t afford to have someone come in and scrape the paint the previous owners left behind and paint. Also if I don’t like it, much easier to to pull it down, repaint and put it back. Been lookin for something like this. Wonderful!
IT LOOKS FABULOUS ! I love the fact that the table you made really shows well against the black wall. I am planning to use black in my bedroom. I have two large canvas pictures that no longer fit the look I am going for. At the thrift store I bought a brand new black sheet. I plan to staple the black sheet over the 2 pictures. I am going to attach different white items to sheet with a light adhesive. I have a white lamp and bedspread. I am going to put black pom pom trim around the bottom edge of lampshade and around the edge of the white sham. To pick up the black checked gingham lining of my hamper, I am going to make matching throw pillow covers and somehow incorporate the same gingham in shapes on the solid black sheet. On one wall, I already have 3 small black framed pictures. I am going to remove existing pictures and put in three different black and white print scarves I already have. P.S. The bedroom has a black desk in it and there are white sheer curtains on the windows. I know this is a very long comment, but I thought you might be interested in how someone else used the color black to decorate a bedroom.
Is it possible to share a picture?
I prefer the black wall, well done!! 👍🏼
It looks fantastic! Wood goes really well against black, I'm glad you stuck to your guns. This idea is also fantastic because it adds even more depth and dimension to your bedroom. Love it!
I watch your videos often and this is something i think i can actually do. I am excited to give it try when i get my apartment. I love the finish and it is dramatic and subtle at the same time.
The black wall was stunning.
You are the ideal combination of beauty with brain and your style of decor reflects that. It is always elegant, beautiful, practical, innovative, cost effective and yet very classy!
What a great idea and it now looks even more elegant
Love the black wall with the white bedding. Very hotel chic indeed. TFS!!!
I don't understand why you don't have your own TV show? Your designing skills are amazing! You are a true talent. Thank you for sharing your skills with all of us!
I absolutely LOVE this. And im def going to do it. I rent and i always wanted an accent wall...and honey!!! You just made my day with this! Its is beautiful!!!!
Black is back! I love it!! You come up with the BEST solutions.
OMG. I have to do this. I own my own house and I can paint it anything I want, but I love the way this looks. My bedroom colors are black, white and silver and this is going to bring it to the next level. I'm so glad I found this video.
Never thought a black wall would look so good. The contract between glossy contact paper & matte cardboard really made a diff. Love it!
I love your black it looks elegant and expensive great job and work so i would do exactly what you did, thank you.!
This was amazing. I'm a renter and wish i did this when i first moved in. maybe my next place.
Crafty-chic, inspirational, simple and affordable rental wall treatment hack. Thanks for sharing.
Great job!
Quick tip to make alignment on this and other light material jobs.
Use blue painters tape from ceiling onto cardboard panels aligning as needed and able to finally peel off the two sided tape you had on cardboard which would be easier if you put the double sided tape on wall using this tip.
Keep up the great work!
This is so perfect!! I have textured walls and peel & stick tiles and wood planks would be so expensive to cover an entire wall. This would be perfect for wallpapers. I can lay down the cardboard first then install traditional wallpaper. Thank you so much for posting!
Fabulous! I love the idea of putting wallpaper on the cardboard panels and would love a tutorial on that if you ever attempt it!
Very beautiful and creative. Knowing me I would just paint and then paint on my move out lol
Thank you! Yes, whatever works for you. :)
I absolutely adore what you did with this wall. I HATE white walls but I usually intensely dislike walls this dark. I just wish I had seen this way back in 2013 when I moved into an apt that was stark white EVERYTHING floor to ceiling, cabinets & appliances. It's ONLY saving grace was the exquisite plaster work on the ceilings and a bathroom with 50s Art Deco pink tiles outlined in black with the stark white above.
I wanted a raised panel halfway up the wall in the main room and this would have worked perfectly by just framing the cardboard panel around the edges and again in the middle, attaching the wood with Velcro or double sided tape then attaching to the wall the way you did. Can't wait for new episodes. I've binge watched all your vids 3 or 4 times now. TFS.
Stenciling or possibly embossing might work. 👍🏾 good job!
I absolutely love the black wall. Gorgeous room makeover!
Hallelujah I am a new subscriber because of that wall! The peace of mind this gives me is another level!!!
Absolutely Loved the black background ... so simple, elegant yet so luxurious
This is so awesome!!!
You go girl!!! Love the creativity
thats beautiful!! I own my home but I'd be up to doing this instead of painting...that was great!
I doubted the choice of a black wall. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I like it!
Amazing! If I was the landlord, I would leave the black look on permanently. Much better.
I absolutely love, love, love it!!! Great job, keep the videos coming!
Love it...a million times better than the white. And this treatment is more textural and interesting than just painting would be...looks luxe!
Omg thank you thank you sooo much!!!! We are finally moving! I want to surprise my husband with his “dream” bedroom, it we can’t do ANYTHING to the walls. I was looking for something with texture and a dramatic look. This is so PERFECT! Thanks again
This came out beautiful and it was a really smart idea
I’m not a DIY-er, but I love your videos! Bedroom looks absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much for this idea. I am 65 & living in a rental, which I am allowed to paint, but it has to be in pastels, no special effects
on the paint, (suede effects, gloss, patterns), & no wall paper. Also, the walls are only plaster, & though I had put screws into the walls,
(we were told we were allowed to, originally), a new manager took over & said no, we weren't allowed to after all!!! I have been scratching
my head ever since, because I want to make it "My Home", as after 8 years, it just doesn't feel like it. Now you have given me hope, so
thank you, I'm off to do some research, now!!!
Very creative you should make another one of them lamps. Because, that one looks awesome with the wood pieces.
I love your creativity and I'm always a lover of black. 😅 It's my favorite color.
Love it! Elegant and refined. Love your side table, too: creative!
I wish I'd known about these brackets back when I had to deal with vertical blinds! What a find!
Flat out - WoW ... like being in a boutique hotel. Thank you for sharing!
Once again you have blown me away with your ideas and finished project, love it !!
Sound proof too. Great idea and look.
Such a bold, beautiful look. So smart for a renter. Good job. 🇧🇸
Even though I can paint I would definitely use this design, so individual and I would love it
