I’ve know about Smile Empty Soul for a long time but just heard this recently, and I broke down. I've been struggling with depression since my early teens, but regardless, what i hate the most is seeing other suffer. It always kills me inside. I always feel awful whenever i meet or see someone who is in alot of pain. Either its physically or mentally. This world is full of bullshit tbh. Sounds like you need a new boyfriend, I wish video games couldn't replace actual feeling and substance in life. This band is amazing but I think as you grow out of teenage angst and into adulthood this should relate less
One of my closest friends is suicidal. He doesn't see how hard it is, talking him out of suicide almost every night and pretending to be happy just so he doesn't have to worry about me. It's painful, talking him out of suicide when I wish I could just take a bullet and end it all. I've been dealing with eating disorders, schizophrenia, depression, self harm and constant panic attacks. He's the only one I can talk to but I can't tell him whats going on because I don't want him to become even more suicidal and actually end it all. I don't know what to do :(

But in fact we can. There's a quote that says ''Depression is like drowning, except you can see everyone around you breathing, outside of the water. The sad part is you could stop drowning by convincing yourself to just stand up.''

At least I have some one to talk to who sort of understands how I feel. my sister also has depression, The only difference is that she goes to a doctor for hers (but since dad's death I don't want to go to the doctors).Between talking with her and self treatment, I have been able to whether a lot more than I ever though possible.

I care. Sports obviously don't help because I was depressed when I played sports. I'm not depressed now, and that's because of stuff like this. Sad music really helps me. It doesn't work for everybody, neither do sports. Maybe they help some people. I was depressed a lot when I was younger and I hid it and smiled and was nice so nobody else would have to be sad. I used to be quite depressed. But if you truly want to get better you have to actually do something about it rather than just sitting and complaining about how sad you are.
well, you know, it's really hard to do something with a disease. like, I may try as hard as I want to, and trust me, I am trying to do something about it, but I can't. because it's not just some mood or whatever, it's a disease. so, yeah. thank you for your experience, but... nope.
It took me 2 years for my family to convince me to get help with my depression. It took 4 years for me to actually want to do something with my future. I went to therapy for awhile and the quote I still use to this day that still gives me hope is, "If you feel as though you are at your lowest, there's nowhere else to go but up."
Everybody is different, and I still struggle to this day. I just know a lot of people that say they're depressed so they don't have to do anything. It bugs me because it gives people who are truly depressed a bad image.

well, you know, it's really hard to do something with a disease. like, I may try as hard as I want to, and trust me, I am trying to do something about it, but I can't. because it's not just some mood or whatever, it's a disease. so, yeah. thank you for your experience, but... nope.
It took me 2 years for my family to convince me to get help with my depression. It took 4 years for me to actually want to do something with my future. I went to therapy for awhile and the quote I still use to this day that still gives me hope is, "If you feel as though you are at your lowest, there's nowhere else to go but up."
Everybody is different, and I still struggle to this day. I just know a lot of people that say they're depressed so they don't have to do anything. It bugs me because it gives people who are truly depressed a bad image.

You hit the nail on the head! Unfortunately, sometimes when I'm drunk in my room, I can't help but blab on Twitter about how upset I am and everyone wonders, I always have to find cover-ups for my depressed rants. But I just want those around me to be happy so I pretend to be as well.

This goes to the kids that grew up from an abusive past and depression took them over, making each day as a kid, teen and adult horrible and miserable. Things are harder then they should be, anxiety over comes everything and depression prevents everything
My parents weren't abusive, they just said things like, why don't you leave now, I know you don't love me, so go live with someone else.
