I'm an airline and Air Force pilot, who has experience flying drones as well. Some of the more advanced, expensive drones for commercial and military use have technology that stabilizes them in extreme conditions and are made of extremely strong materials. The drones we are using against the Ukraine right now (yes, sorry, I'm active in the Russian Air Force) are very versatile.

For all the youngens out there who don’t know, this is NOT the first time tropicanas roofs been ripped off by a hurricane.
Around 20 years ago it happened while there were people waiting the storm out inside.
Thankfully no one was injured, but they spent the night terrified and wet.
Guess the repair was more of a hail mary patch up than it was an actual repair to ensure it would survive a hurricane.
I have to look it up if it’s happened over the past 20 years.
I just remember when it happened then.
It was a HUGE deal at the time. Especially since the people who were sheltered there *still* were hit by the hurricane they were sheltering from.

Super Dome was fabric too. "The Superdome was used as a "shelter of last resort" for those in New Orleans unable to evacuate from Hurricane Katrina when it struck on August 29, 2005. During the storm, a large section of the outer covering was peeled off by high winds. The photos of the damage, in which the concrete underneath was exposed, quickly became an iconic image of Hurricane Katrina. A few days later, the dome was closed until September 25, 2006." They could make it out of anything, but most materials, in that size, won't stand up perfectly hurricane winds.

In 1968, I was 4 years old growing up in Philadelphia. My parents decided to take the family to the new Spectrum arena to see the Ice Capades show.
It was a windy afternoon. The wind blew on us as Mom held my hand running across Pattison Avenue.
We walked into the Spectrum and down the aisle towards our seats. Next thing I remember were black tiles flying around like bats. People were running back up the steps towards the exits. The roof basically was blowing off the Spectrum.

The latest renderings for the new stadium showed it having a fixed glass roof and large windows and porches spanning across the walls, allowing natural daylight to pour in while keeping the stadium climate-controlled. We'll see if they redesign it now.

It's terrible what a storm like this can do to you! No question about it! But what I don't understand is that you in the usa don't put your power supply, cable-tv, telephone under the ground like in europe. here we also have a power failure, but it is usually back after 1 hour. and everything works again !!! You're still at the same level as 100 years ago!

That will be costly. Water ingress (probably with a fair amount of sea spray derived salt content) is going to lead to significant, and persistent corrosion issues.
