Trump has ruined the Republican Party. I’m interested to see if they will be able to recover from his antics if he loses in 2024. It’s clear the Republicans like that personality but if they can’t get moderates to vote for him, they’re gonna have to figure out a new strategy after this election.
If the GOP wants to be a relevant and respected party again, they would be wise to make Romney their north star. He has decency and integrity, does not partake in polarization by demonizing the democrats, and knows how to lose an election with grace and respect for democratic institutions and the will of the people.
He's in a bit of a tricky spot here because there is enormous pressure from his constituents to back Trump

When the deciding factor on what candidate you pick is based on the party rather than the person then you're losing the human representative and gaining an unknown entity to represent you. At that point they can put a puppy up there and you'd still vote for it if it was running for your party.
