I notice, and more then appreciate, that the breaks are now edited out. I know it must mean extra time on the vid before it comes out. Thank you for putting in that effort. :)
Ben's unshakable compulsion to block and walk away during bosses' vulnerable animations where he could just wail on them brings me great pain. But he's still doing way better than I ever did, so clearly it's a valid strategy! Keep up the good work, boys!
Come here every week for the Duet intro.... And I stay for the Tom and Ben. Love you Boys! Been a fan since the beginning of the "Jerk off streams" lol. #VODSquad
In the future, for bens benefit, there is a place you can practice all your skills you learn. I can't remember if it's *in* the skill menu, or if its the wandering samurai nearby the dilapidated shrine, but it's free and let's you practice your moves without having a true combat scenario! I too *haaaaaate* practicing something while being mauled, and I found this and was so happy xD
Ben made classic mistake of choosing to fight a percussionist, not knowing that the percussionists have a whole fucking arsenal of weapons. He'll soon be crying "mercy" while being pelted with xylophone keys. Personally I'd fight the first violinist, who's usually so busy shoving their head up their own ass to even notice that there's a fight on.
As a (technically former, it's been a couple years) percussionist myself, the person who specializes in crash cymbals is scariest to me. Not only are those things thin sheets of metal, but they get buff, holding those alone is a workout. And then there's the instruments like brake drum and anvil, which are good for just hucking at the opponent.
I like how tom starts out by saying he doesn't have a lot to say about Star Trek this week, and then they proceed to talk about nothing else for 30+ minutes 😅
So, having watched it all, two bits of advice: please ignore if you don't want it xD 1. For the items change the binding of the action to *use* to one of the side arrows under the joystick, one of the ones that's used for switching right now (whichever is easier to reach) and set that switch key to the up arrow. Less risk of fat fingering the switch item without having to resort to not having any other consumables available. 2. Listening to the noise is good but note that block cancels attack anims. So you can block after attacking if you realize they're swinging and you won't beat them. Also *block dancing* rapid tap the block button to try and trigger parries with less risk of getting hurt than trying to properly time it. Worth using this as well against new people while figuring out the timing of their attacks. Little gamey buuuut hey, part of the game xD
@@Necrof66 actually no, there’s a specific rhythm to him. I’ve found that if I spam block, he straight-up kills me. The rhythm, however, baits him into a sweep if completed flawlessly, which can be countered with the jump-kick for massive posture damage
@@topdjc2878 You're right, once you've got the flow of the game down, and the rhythm of enemy attacks down, timing it properly is *way* more effective and you don't run as much of a risk of getting gibbed through a short barrier. The point of recommending a block dance, especially for ben, is it teaches someone who comes from DS combat (where dodge is king) to focus more on block than dodge. On top of that, when you're commentating and learning the systems it will hold you over better than trying to dodge and stay 20 feet away from enemies all the time. Finally it reminds you and teaches you that you can *stop* an attack, or block at what seem like moments when it's too late, and still get the block off, even if not the parry. Block dancing, just like any other form of focused forced use of a system, is like training wheels designed to help rebalance a mind towards a specific system. In this case that block is king!
I remember getting the bell and going back before fighting the *ogre* and accidentally activating this area. Than spiting myself by playing through the whole zone before progressing in the main area anymore xD Lady Butterfly was a baaaaaaaaall ache.
man really not used to the breaks being edited out i feel like its only been these last two that they have been edited out and I keep alt tabbing from my games to skip a break thats not there lol #vodgobos
Actually Conscripts were huge at the start of the last edition so there's a lot of Militarum players with conscripts already. Not that anyone is going to read this comment or remember what they said about...
Fiddler Crab stance Tom and Wind-in-the-Willows-automobile-Toad stance Ben are probably the Ornstein and Smough of Sekiroto: shadows dice thrice. Having said that though, Shark-stance Ben would allow for Fishhands. Except thems be of the chomping shark vararity.
Okay, obviously a ring sized smart device would be very silly, but what if it was an mp3 player? All you need is like three buttons and a small screen displaying a single line of text. Only major problem would be to add decent bluetooth (no way I'm plugging something into a ring on my finger) and battery life.
Refining my statement for tom about ben playing the game. I didn't think that ben was playing bad he did do really well especially against the bosses. It was more that it was hard to watch because he refuses to read anything. He gets a new item, clicks the screen away then asks 'What does this thing do' and tom not remembering because it has been a while says 'I don't know' but if you would have just read the fucking tooltip then you would know. And some not all but some of the items can be very helpful. It just annoys me so much when people play games that way. Similarly ben just skips past all the dialogue and doesn't know a single thing about the story or what is going on again always asking tom 'who dis, why they do that' and tom doesn't really remember. This game is much more story driven then dark souls and the convos also tell you about where to go next and what your goal is. There was even the character that tells you about a hidden treasure but ben skipped his entire dialogue.
I mean I played through the whole game without even picking up the firecrackers and never really using any consumables. It's not super necessary and if it was Tom would remember it
Ben is still doing great, he made good progress this stream, really hope they keep the sekiro streams coming ;0 (ps come back later and you'll wreck her)
Half the video I’m just praying that either Tom remembers where the axe is or someone in chat tells them. I’m shocked they don’t have aggressive backseaters crying in chat constantly, I know I am
Ben: "I have the least amount of health possible" Tom: "Nah, you're just playing on a no hit run" Ben: "Oh when you put it like that, easy" Immediately gets hit and dies Oh Bon...such a scamp
Grape-kun's story was actually kind of tragic - he had bonded with the female penguin Midori, but the zoo took their hatchling away from them to prevent inbreeding. After that the couple, who had been bonded for almost ten years before successfully raising a live chick, clearly suffered over the loss of their chick. Midori eventually left Grape-kun, and Grape-kun was rejected by the rest of the zoo's females. He spent his days alone in a corner of the enclosure, an outcast from penguin society. Then along came Hululu. Hululu was a cutout of a female anthropomorphized Humbolt penguin, a character from Kemono Friends, a show about anthropomorphized, female animals (Kemono means "beast ears" and drawings of cute girls with some animal features like tails or fangs is a popular trope in Japan, the origin of stuff like kitsune and cat-eared girls). Grape-kun bonded with Hululu, and refused to leave the cut-outs side. The zoo made sure to exploit the hell out of the situation, even selling special drinks at their restaurant called "Loving Grape", organizing festivals, and inviting the voice actress of Hululu to the zoo to film a short video on penguin conservation. Meanwhile Grape-kun spent so much time with his anime waifu that he was missing meals, and the zoo had to resort to removing the cutout for a few hours every day just so that Grape-kun would eat some food. His health continued to decline, and eventually he died. After his death, they updated the Hululu cut-out, adding an illustrated picture of Grape-kun standing next to her side. Imagine this happening to an actual person. A tragic loss of a child, a destroyed marriage, then depression and isolation eventually breaks the poor bastard's mind, and they "fall in love" with an anime waifu. And for some reason, society collectively decides that this is incredibly romantic, turning the crazed lunatic and their love doll into a totem of the perfect lovers. An energy drink company makes a soda in the "couples" honor, and thousands of memes are shared about them. The lonely man refuses to leave the life-sized body pillow of their chosen genki girl, day in and day out, barely eating meals or interacting with society, until finally death embraces them. And to celebrate that death, they make a poster with a cartoon version of him beside his imaginary girlfriend.
I notice, and more then appreciate, that the breaks are now edited out. I know it must mean extra time on the vid before it comes out. Thank you for putting in that effort. :)

A whole hour of Tom and Ben podcast! You spoil us.
Ben did pretty good last time, best thing was his attitude of not being defeatist about it all, just about trying and trying again.

I hope Tom watches DS9 after TNG. I think he'll like it more, especially in the later seasons with the Dominion War.
I think the tromboner would be a formidable foe. They have the reach and could duel wield by removing the slide.
First, there is Lewis and Simon.
Now, we have Tom and Ben.
Tom's bad dubs any time subtitles show up is the best.

Actually I think the game has an anti-cheese for block dancing. It dramatically reduces the parry window if you block too much too quickly
