Not sure if know this Felix, but in one of his last interviews Dale Clevenger said to Andrew Bain something to the effect of. "French playing has changed so much, have you seen this French boy that plays the Gliere on vienna horn, and he plays it absolutely fantastically, you have to see it." You blew Dale's socks off it seems!
Quite superb throughout. Felix - note perfect, lovely tone and superb execution. The orchestra too provided fantastic accompaniment. A pleasure to listen to.
Хочу похвалить звукооператора. Очень хорошо слышны голоса оркестра! Признаюсь, раньше я практически не обращал большого внимания на оркестр, хотя сам исполнял этот концерт, заканчивая музыкальное училище в Казани.
What model Vienna horn are you using Felix. I have a Vienna horn, but it is an older one and it is like playing on slippery ice with very problematic tuning, I have heard from players in Vienna that the new ones have resolved a lot of the tuning issues and are more solid. I have no idea how you play this so accurately.
@@compulsoryevacuationdevice I think he means that it isn't apparent that they used a middle of the hall mic in the mix, or at least it doesn't have much prominence. All the instruments, no just the horn are quite micd with a lot less reverb than is likely what the audience heard in the room. It depends what you like in orchestral recordings. Personally I prefer to hear the sound of the soloist and orchestra in the room rather than this studio type mic set up where the instruments are extremely cleanly separated. But very few professional recordings are done that these days, only non-official recordings capture the true orchestral sound. Vienna horns hit edge must earlier than other instruments, but in a hall that does not dominate as much as it sounds like on this recordings as higher harmonic edge sound decays first at longer distances allowing the lower harmincs to dominate again. Giving dominance to close capture mics makes the instrument sound harsher than it is at loud dynamics.
Everything is perfect, except this isn't remotely close to the original intended Russian horn school sound which Gliere intended, especially the straight non-vibrato tone.
Awesome performance. It's wonderful to listen this piece on a Vienna horn.
Bien fait avec le concert de Gliere.
The overtones you get (on high tones especially) on the vienna horn sound so incredible. Such a complex sound.
Fantastique! Bravi! Et le soliste, formidable ❤

Incredible, amazing
Excellent playing. Really blowing through those registers.
Bravo. Soliste monstrueux et orchestre qui accompagne avec perfection. Très belle interprétation. Chapo encore au soliste.
Wonderful music, good sound taking and superb soloist and orchestra. Enjoyed it very much
Que maravilha, performance perfeita... Parabéns!!!
No comments... Just full happiness! Bravi for all!!!
Солист замечательный!
Wunderbar, der Solist wie auch das Orchester!
Very nice and transparent sound, medium high powerful note head, medium sound control. Excellent!!!
Fantastic and on a vienna horn
Wow, superb playing!

My dear Fèlix! What a hero he is!
Well performed!
Mmmmmm, that is a beautiful Vienna sound!
Are you sure about that?
Why is barney stinson playing horn
Powerful tone, great art.
Knows anyone who is the manufacturer of Felix's horn?
Looks to be a Jungwirth Vienna Horn
This horn looks like a smaller bore instrument to me, or is it just an illusion? Really wonderful player!!
This is a F-Vienna horn, used mainly in Viennese orchestras
Oh boy, I can barely play high on my Conn much less a Vienna horn!

Excellent playing but wish they hadn't mic'd behind the bell. Need the reflection/dampening/mellowing effect of the hall.
I don't see a mic directly behind him, this recording sounds really well mixed to me. They combined many different mics to get the overall sound.

Ok, that’s just ridiculous.
schrecklich mit Saxophon statt Streichern. Oh Gott klingt das schäbig, wer denkt sich sowas aus :(
