Jesus is the Hanukkah Shamash, he is the light bearer and the eight candles represent the eight men whom Jesus chose who pinned the New Testament. The 8 were; Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Peter, Jude, and Paul. The shamash is the candle used to light the other candles of the Hanukkah menorah. JESUS CHRIST THE LIGHT BEARER ✏ In him was life and the life was the light of men. And the light shined in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. JOHN 1:4-5 In Hebrew, shamash (pronounced shah-MAHSH) literally means “helper” The shamash helps in the lighting of the menorah. Jesus is the Light of the world. He is the Golden Candlestick in the old Testament. ✏ Jesus said, I am the light of the world, he that follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life. JOHN 8:12 JESUS A SERVANT, A WITNESS SENT BY GOD THE FATHER ✏ Jesus said, he that loves me not keeps not my sayings and the word which you hear is not mine but the Fathers who sent me. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it gives light and to all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
