@Cultured Anime Waifu [Russian Waifu] Thanks for the input, Mr. Russian *cough* bot *cough* Waifu
@Cultured Anime Waifu [Russian Waifu] Well, given that Jones has dishonestly tried to obstruct the legal process at every turn, lied repeatedly under oath, and never once apologized for any of it, not to mention that Jones is actually rich from grifting his audience, the fine seems appropriate.
For those unaware: that first clip of alex cheering at the verdict is not some humorous edit. He was live on air when they announced the verdict and that was his actual, live behavior. He was pretty clearly having a completely surreal moment and he had to keep up the bravado for his audience.
Great comment. His reaction is asinine, but it fits into his act. He can't break the act.
My best comparison is a televangelist. They are so deep in their belief system, that they don't know reality from fantasy.
@@Redmenace96 given how much of his persona is borrowed from Rush and friends, this makes perfect sense. All these right-wing talk show hosts are trying to sell something and proselytize, and they definitely borrow heavily from the televangelists of the early days of TV.
@@Redmenace96 what does your reality stand on? What guarantees reality continues as it does? Just the empirical method? The method which has been trough several paradigm shifts over last couple centuries and is pretty much guaranteed to have paradigm shifts in the future as well. Which has lead big parts of the scientific community into this post modern constructivism where they question if reality even really exists, whether it's not a human construct instead of a constant for everyone as classic positivism claims. It's where many progressive values come from. It's a pretty reasonable continuation of not having a solid ground to have general reality stand on.
"Reality" isn't as straightforward as you make it seem. You have to realize we are raised within a certain paradigm and worldview, a way of interpreting data, and it is very difficult to one realize there are other paradigms which exist and that they are also reasonable. It's messy, we're all inside some deep belief system and if you don't believe you are, it just means you're very deep, beyond realizing deep cause it shaped your worldview that much. Paradigms and science philosophy does not exist in a vaccuum, it is loaded with subjective interpretation and values. Data needs to be interpreted.

The problem is that Alex is in a death spiral. He might be crazy, but he is not an idiot. He knows what he needs to do to lessen these damages, but if he does he destroys his brand. Its like the whole "Office" bit on Michael Scott's Paper where the accountant tells Michael his prices are putting him out of business, but his prices are the only reason he is getting business. I hear snake oil is his planned next big seller, excellent seasoning for bone broth.
This makes a lot of sense. Some part of him must know how dangerous his fans are. He must know that they are a bigger threat to him than jail or financial ruin. He cannot afford to have them turn against him.
Which is stupid to me, because everything I have seen so far of the poeple actually beliving the shite he spreads tells me he could just change up his whole operation and tell them its the immigrants/freemasons/reptiloids/jewish world gouverment´s conspiracy´s fault. And they would eat it up like a junky injecting heroin behind the trainsation.
the first time i saw this guy i knew he was a snake oil salesman.
I've said it before, the court needs to place an injunction on him forbidding him from discussing his legal proceedings on his show or on social media. He thinks he can get away with defaulting on all of these judgements because the more he loses, the more his followers will give him money. All of these decisions will ultimately be toothless if he still comes out ahead by leveraging his losses into more money.
Such an injunction would certainly violate the First Amendment.

He's tried that, turns out when you repeatedly call yourself a reporter and your employees engage in journalism (which they do, if very, very, very badly, and admit to it) it's a bit of a weaker defence.
He did that when arguing for custody of his kids, since his wife used his behaviors on air as a reason he should not be around his own kids.
He lost that case.

@@RisingChaosWriting Exactly right. Various FSS employees also tried the "I'm not a journalist" tac during their depositions for this case and they were quickly cornered into admitting that they themselves have referred to themselves as reporters and journalists more or less constantly.

One or more of those people could buy the equipment, setup a studio, and let Alex film there. He wouldn't own anything, but he could still post his videos online.
Honestly, if he’s gonna keep doing this then there should be a form of Alex jones law or something because if damage by a very well known conspiracy theorist who megaphones these conspiracy theories and misinformation that we constantly deal with in and insurmountable amount of people who BELIEVE him then the government has to intervene to crack down on this. I know that this might not happen because of the king turtle anus obstructionist in Mitch McConnell would play the obstructionist filibuster rule (which he has periodically proven that the filibuster has done more harm than good) (you can disagree if you want on that take but that’s something different) and kill it dead, but yet again I’m not a politician.
@@donalddeluxe6407 The problem is politicians could weaponize a law like that.
They could use it to silence a reporter who uncovered a scandal, or to silence political opponents.
Also, any law like that is likely to get a Supreme Court challenge. It could be deemed unconstitutional.
If laws like that had existed back in the 60's, they would more likely have been used against Dr. King and Malcolm X, than against the KKK or similar groups.
That would require someone be willing to be a meat shield for Alex. Instead of Alex being their employer and ultimately responsible for his own actions, _they'd_ be _his_ employer and responsible for his actions. And do you think Alex would take kindly to someone he considers a friend or confidant trying to curb him?
You don't have to think, look at how he reacted when Joe Rogan tried to talk sense into him and ultimately cut him off.
@@PointsofData I said they could let Alex film his videos there, not start a company and give him a job.
If I set up a studio in my spare bedroom and let you film videos there for your website, let's call it Star News, I wouldn't be your employer. I would just be letting you use my equipment and space for free. Only you and Star News LLC would be liable. I could charge you a small fee to legally make it a rental.
If someone does that for Alex, I don't think they would be legally liable. They could even write a lease for a $1.00 per month rental fee.
Depends on the law and that doesn't apply to the chapter he used so it's not really important and they can fine him or put a lean on his home

I’ve had the misfortune to be seated at a table next to the one Jones was seated at in a restaurant here in Austin a number of years ago. He was dining with one other person and the restaurant was a quiet one. He talked inappropriately loudly for close to an hour, not letting his dining companion get a word in the entire time. This was back before he was nationally known; he was just the host of a cable-access show at the time. The thing that stood out to me was the way he blinked - it wasn’t just that he blinked way too often, far more than a normal person would, but that he blinked by squeezing his eyes shut. It was like he was tightly squeezing his eyes shut every five seconds. For the entire hour. He looked (and sounded) very mentally ill. I don’t know if he was or not, but he certainly acted in a manner consistent with someone who has some sort of mental illness.
🧢
He would have to be mentally ill to say the completely bogus shit that he does.
I will say that it wasn't a nice experience for you or any of the people you were with but I think something to note is that prior to all of this, the lawsuit I mean, Jones was an alcoholic. Its been noted multiple times on the Joe Rogan Podcast that Jones will often times drink before or during his podcast. And this continued into his personal life from what I can gather from listening to Joe Rogan talk about Jones. So I do think that might be a factor in your unpleasant experience with him.
@@fuckedupbody4194 ahhh. I've always pegged him as schizophrenic and truly believes what he's saying, but if he's a severe alcoholic then that might better explain it. @@PointsofData Yea its been noted multiple times by Joe that hes an alcholic and that often times he will be wasted by the time joe is tipsy due to how much and how often he drinks. I think there was one clip from the earlier days where Jones said that he drank almost everyday. And if we take into account that he will often drink before his podcasts to give off that wild energy, then I don't think its too far to say that some of the things Jones said might be said while intoxicated

I think the most devastating line from this court case comes from William Aldenberg, the FBI agent who was one of the first on the scene and who many who believed the conspiracy theory claimed was “playing” both a law enforcement officer and a distraught parent (David Wheeler, who is also a plaintiff). Aldenberg said during his testimony that his biggest regret about the day of the tragedy is that he wished he wore a different jacket, so he but especially Wheeler would not have had to suffer the harassment they did.
Why would the jacket he wore cause (or if he wore a different one, not cause) himself and wheeler to be harassed and abused? Genuine question.
@@magiccarpetmadeofsteel4564 He clearly said that one of the conspiracy theories was that Aldenberg and Wheeler were the same person. It stands to reason that wearing the same or similar clothes to each other would have enhanced such a narrative.
@@magiccarpetmadeofsteel4564 Aldenberg had been at a training when the call came in, and had been in the middle of switching SWAT vests from one used for training, which were blank, to one clearly labeled FBI. +1 also relevant regarding Trump and NY and the shifting of assets to other jurisdictions
They talked about it briefly in the video with "piercing the corporate veil". Basically, if you try to create a bunch of companies to play shell games with, the court can investigate and determine that the companies are a sham with no legitimate purpose and treat them as the same entity.
On a tangent, Hollywood likes to play similar games with royalties which is why they have a thing called "Hollywood Accounting". Studio promises a writer X% of the Net Income from the film, but then says that said film *lost* money after they had to pay for the distribution, marketing, etc. Nevermind how the same studios also own these distribution and marketing companies.
I think the legal term for uncovering and taking hidden or transferred assets is “disgorgement”.
@@lluewhyn A tangent to your tangent: there’s this thing in Hollywood called the C-47. It’s a simple clothespin, and is quite useful for clipping two things together temporarily. It’s considered an expendable. But why not just call it a clothespin?
A clever and dishonest production manager started putting the renamed item as a line item in the production budget. And he greatly inflated the price. And then he formed a side company that would sell “C-47s” at these inflated prices to the production. Imagine buying a thing for 5¢ and then charging much more. Multiply by a thousand for each production you’re budgeting.

Sandy Hook happened on the day my mom graduated from nursing school. We came home to the awful news. She wanted to celebrate, but it felt inappropriate, so we didn't. I filmed and took so many pictures of that day. I've barely looked at any of it because the shooting hangs over all of it. That license has absolutely changed her life, such as helping her get out of an emotionally abusive relationship (she told me that something nobody can take away from you is knowledge. When she saw the writing was on the wall, even after a year's breakup in which she/we moved out and then they got back together again, she decided to start focusing on getting her license), and in turn has allowed her to help us "kids" when we've lost jobs, like I did earlier this year when nearly everyone at the company I worked for was laid off after December.
That license means a lot to us and it just sucks we can never think on that day without the shooting also being a part of it. Denying that it ever happened ticks me off because it's like saying my family avoided celebrating over nothing.
