No wind poor thermals

Friday 8th September 2023. The forecast was predicting 4 star thermals at 3pm and 4pm. I got up the hill just after 1:30pm and waited for a couple of hours. At 3pm there were some small swirls of wind. I moved over to the west side of the hill. At about 3:45 I launched where some small birds were flying around infront of the hill. There were thermals trying to go up, but they were trapped by an inversion layer. I glided over to the east side. I had fun but wouldn't have bothered if I knew what it was going to be like. Looking at the forecast for Saturday, I notice that it can say 4 stars for the hill, but when I scroll down to the map the hill is in an area of 2 stars! I need to try looking at the thermal map more.
