I drove through there in 2016 on a road trip. and fell in love with it. I live in GA. but I never forgot how much this little town touched me. If I could I would move there in a heartbeat.
I live in Superior and worked in the underground mine here when it closed here in 1982. I would later work in San Manuel underground for 13 years 86-99 when that mine closed also. I worked with Mr. Burch at the State of Arizona where we both retired. BHP and Rio Tinto both own Resolution Copper in Superior,Az and want to open a new mine here. They throw money at every organization in town (Superior)and it makes me mad that they are not doing anything for the town of San Manuel. There is still 30 years of ore left underground in San Manuel and they should reopen this mine before they destroy our water and environment here in Superior with their block cave mine at Oak Flat federal campground. Had so many friends in San Manuel when I worked there. These mines only give money when they want something in return. When they close they forget about you. Prayers for San Manuel, keep up the fight for a better community.
What about the water. I used to live there when I was really young and I got seriously sick from the water . It was from the run off lake from the mine.
