  • This weeks video is the Arran Cask strength full maturation in sherry casks. This is a whisky which is part of their core range and can be found in most whisky stores.
A shoutout to Arran too I have used a video from their website and have to give them all the credit for that... hope that’s ok. You can find more videos and interviews as well by visiting the site.
Hope you enjoy the video hit the subscribe button if you do for weekly content.

These new Arrans only just started showing up in my area but I am really loving this whisky. I picked up the 18yo and the Quarter Cask at the same time. All three are just fantastic whiskies so Arran has my full attention right now. They are knocking it out of the park.

This was my intro to the arran brand. I’ve since grabbed several others but have made sure to put several of these away for when my boys visit

Great review Kevin. You know how I like sherry matured whisky, :) but no need to include me in the ballot as Frank also mentioned below. That Teapot Dram Batch 007 sample may be my most favorite, followed closely by the GlenAllachie 10yr CS Batch 3... Cheers buddy!

Arran are a prime example of a distillery knowing what they’re about and delivering. Like you say, they are ticking all the right boxes for bringing great quality at affordable prices. One of my favorite sherried whiskies would have to be the kilkerran 15 single cask from 2019. It’s big and bold and woody and wow while underneath those in your face flavours it still brings that rather subtle, earthy, kilkerran character. Cheers

Great review Kevin enjoyed your wow moment i have the 18 and once I left it to let it breathe it really opened up. Going to have to investigate Arran some more. My favourite dram was the Tomatin distillery exclusive PX, I had heard some great comments on it but didn't really believe until a very generous fella sent me a sample and I have to admit I had the same reaction you just did it blew me away a fantastic dram. I haven't been fortunate enough to get a bottle for my self yet but I will. Cheers mate

Glad you enjoyed this one. For me this and it's sister bottle the Quarter cask are both excellent values for cask strength Whisky. Did a side by side with this and Aberlour A'bunadh batch 61 a couple of times. Kind of apples and oranges as the A'bunad has European oak spice notes on the nose and palate from EU oak Butts while this is big and juicy fruit from the American oak sherry hogsheads. Cheers

Congratulations on over 400 subs. My favourite Sherry bomb at the moment is Glenrothes whisky makers cut. Natural colour at 48.8%. It really started my Sherry obsession and now my cupboard is full of sherried whisky. That Arran is on my shopping list. But you can take me out of the comp as I did win the GG 25 and the added extra (which I loved and gutted I can’t find a bottle)

I love that first reaction, Kev 🤩👍
I definitely must get myself one of these bottles sooner than later after this. It has been on my radar for a while, but your reaction here makes me pull the trigger.
Being an Arran aficionado, it is, however, an easy decision anyways.
Oh... and by the way: Congrats on the 400 subs milestone! Very well deserved imho.

Tried this at the distillery last week and was similarly impressed with it. Definitely one of the best of the 7 Arran versions I was able to sample.
The other one which I would recommend (which I bought along with the Bodega) is their Fingal's Cut, a heavily peated, cask strength, sherry cask finish bottling. May be distillery only at the moment but we'll worth looking out for. Not dissimilar in style to something like an Uigeadail.

Great timing: Just bought myself a bottle online :-) .... Has yet to arrive , so no opinion from my side about this dram (at this moment).
So no need to put my name in the ballot and send me a dram of this.
For the record: my favourite sherry dram is the Bunnahabhain Moine Oloroso (Feis Ile 2016)
    Slàinte mhath

Totally agree about the Arran, bought a bottle at Wood Winters on impulse a month ago, wasn't expecting much as the Arran's I've tried previously were pretty bland. Not so with this, a worthy Sherry Monster rich and tastes far older than its actual age. Shows the value of fully maturing in good sherry casks. Delighted with it, maybe even my second favourite Sherry after the Tomatin PX. £145 but worth every penny, many thanks to Roy for introducing me to it at the gathering!

Another great review! Look forward to trying this whisky and glad you enjoyed this. Happy Friday and cheers!🥃 I enjoy the Deanston 20...wondering how you think they would stand up in a comparison?

Great review. I am curious about your sulphur comment. It doesn't seem to impact your opinion of the dram so I'm taking that as an indication that the sulphur is complementary. I've recently had an awful experience with sulphured whisky that I would say damaged my palette for awhile. That said, I like Craigellachie 13 which has some sulphur and it adds to the experience. Slainte my friend.

Given the quality of the Lochranza product I can imagine their peated spirit will be fantastic.....even if they are Lagg-ing :) behind the Islay distilleries.

My favorite sherried whisky until this day has been the Springbank 12 CS (batch 20) at 55,3% abv. That was really something, but unfortunately I'm on the last drops of that bottle (I'd guess there's 2 pours left).
So if this Arran can help me getting over missing that batch 20 bottle, it would be just perfect.
So - please, don't pick me for the sample. I will get my own bottle soon, it will probably be my next purchase.
    Slàinte! 🥃
