Why is the lead vocalist SCREAMING?! If you have the microphone, there's no need to try and scream over the crowd; sing as you normally would so you at least sound good! Screaming doesn't help the crowd hear you better, it just makes you sound like you can't sing. I am a vocalist, and I've done this myself. All it does is trash your voice. So...yeah. Don't do that. If they want to hear you, they'll shut up. If they're singing along with you, don't try to "out-scream" them. Just SING.
Unless the song is a screamy metal tune; in that case, HELL YEAH scream!
