Humbuster cables aren't proprietary. They are simply a cable with a TRS end and a TS end connected in a manner that uses the extra conductor to shield the cable for preventing ground loops. You don't need to buy them from Fractal. Other vendors sell them or you can make them yourself (as I have done) following the diagram included in the user manual for the FM3.
I had mine for two weeks. I was very busy so I did not start spending some time with it until the second week. After some very light use the USB socket started to come loose. They offered me a repair but as I was still in the full refund time period I decided to send it back. These gizmos cost a lot more in Europe than they do in the US. I looked into the USB socket thing and found out that FM3 owners were buying a short USB connector off Amazon so that they did not have to keep unplugging from the units USB socket. If I could get one for the US price I would risk buying another one. But for the current UK price I'm going to pass.
Im thinking about getting an fm3 cause I played around with a quad, and while the sounds and amps are INSANE (for a modern metal player its game over, cause its got fortin nameless now lol) but it simply felt really flimsy and fragile. Probably great for a studio setup but for other applications id be scared to roughly handle the quad like a "tool" Also, I dont like touchscreens and id never drive a tesla either😂
Nice review. You said you think it's too big. Have you thought how hard it is to cram that many amps, speaker cabinets, effects pedals, microphones, cables etc. into that little box? The guys at Fractal are Magicians. Houdini couldn't have done that. And too pricey? They're on sale for $999 and that's the turbo version. How much would it cost for all the above equipment purchased separately? I'm not affiliated with Fractal but I love their gear. And it's very solidly built. Not some cheap toy. I think it's a steal.
I play shows 4 nights a week and I would say say the FM3 is all one needs. its really a matter of personal choice. the FM3 is the cheapest, and it has so so many options
Thank you for your video! Just curious, if I was to play that unit in a jam with friends, what should I use to amplify it? Would an frfr set up be better than running it through an amplifier?
I have been running this into the front of an amp but the amp and cab models in this thing are the best in the world. To really use this thing as it was intended an FRFR is the way to go. Can't go wrong with either though
I've run into a power amp and cabs and into an amp. FRFR gives you a lot better tone and gives you tons of tonal choices with all the different amp and cab choices on board. That being said there are a lot of different FRFR speakers so finding the best for your money might be a bit of a chore. Getting 2 and going stereo really sounds great also.

The Turbo version is out now, which has 10% more processing power & bigger LCD button screens.

I went with this over the quad cortex as well. To me, you're just able to do a lot more with it in comparison. Glad I did.
I went with this over the quad too because of how much the update it and the power supply is just better.

Don’t understand if these high end modellers Fractal,Cortex are so great why do people need to add a external pedal ?
Considering selling my helix n getting one of these.
Great review , I'm on the fence on whether I want this or the FM 9 which I think is too much for my needs, I'm a simple man

How many songs do you need more than 3 separate effects? Not many. And if you're recording at home - it's all you need.

You are never going to receive an answer to this question.
