What an incredible ending guys. I just want to say a few words because a lot of you have come my way to show your love and care for this franchise and I really see that. This has been a brand new type of game for me to play and it’s really challenged some of my deep rooted habits that I have formed over the years and having an audience has really shined a spotlight on not only how I figure out a brand new game playing blind but also seeing moments of stubbornness and forgetfulness. I want you all to know I will be really wanting to bring you something special with MGS3. And I’m going to take some time before I start playing the game. Not long! But as I went from the first game right into the sequel, I’d like to practice some more off camera. In my own time I’ll be replaying the beginning of this game, VR Missions and maybe Snake Tales? and learning all the minor details and forming some positive MGS habits so that we make the next game an even better experience for you and me. I’m also writing myself up a story/character summary of the first two games to keep note of as there is always just so much to take in. Thanks for the constant love and support because I’m having a great time and I want you to as well.
Sons of liberty in real life is what George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and other revolutionaries called themselves. When America started a revolution against Britain in the colonial days ... .That what solidus snake says was incomplete before there figt at the end of the game..
Here's a fun fact: Hideo Kojima was _not_ fond of how people often used Solid Snake as a power fantasy during MGS1's heyday - especially since, at the time, that was a big motivation for the desire for a sequel. This game's plot was one big commentary on that fact.
also, you didnt even got it that the whole mgs 2 is just a big vr simulation, besides liquid and snake of course they were unplanned. so you arent even that intillegtnt o get that
1:47:01 I agreed with you, and to be honest this is the legend “Hideo Kojima”. I love how he wrote and manage with his team all the games of MG. In the end, Big F to Konami
It's absolutely crazy how MGS2's story has only become more relevant in the 20 years it's been out. Say what you will about Kojima, but parts of his script for the game are nothing short of genius. I'm glad you enjoyed the game as much as you did. By the way, I'm skimming through some sections of your MGS series playthrough at the moment, and it's very fun to see a newcomer's reactions. Gonna continue with your MGS3 playthrough in a bit.
@@Xeno_Solarus I'm mostly talking about Kojima's personality, which is famously... Not the best. All I'm saying is, it's worth ignoring his demeanor if he keeps making great games like these.
I know this is 2 years old, but looking at the comments I can't believe no-one mentioned the little easter egg at the last scene with Rose. If you look at the background, you can see Vamp looking at you, showing that he is still alive. I just realized that about a year ago, and it gave me chills.
I've played through these games countless times, but amazingly I never thought to called the Colonel during the Ray fight. You've shown new dialog that I haven't experienced before. Thank you.
For someone like me who has time and time again missed countless dialogue moments in codec calls throughout the game, this makes me feel a little better 😂
19:30 Colonel telling Raiden he saw a guy leaving Rosemary's room had me rolling. Edit: I also notice that Snake is using Turbo Fire when using the Socom, a call back to his torture in MGS 1.
Numbers can't think or be conscious therefore ai is a propaganda term and it's just pdfile companies and pdfile bankers and pdfile governments programming g4yeye and lying to the useful idiots saying it can think, lol what a joke
Nice one Mapocolops! Indeed, MGS2's story is precisely relevant 19 years after release. The concept of "Enemy" will be explored in MGS3 in which you will learn to see it in context of "Perspective-based Perception". Speaking of perspective, the initial MGS3 release 'Snake Eater' stuck to having the overhead camera only. Personally, I feel that Kojima backpedaled on that decision and gave into audience by releasing MGS3 Subsistence with the free-roaming camera. No worries, the digital MGS3 version on Xbox One is basically MGS3 Subsistence and I know from your MGS2 playthrough, a free roaming camera would probably be your preference; the nice thing is that the game allows you to switch between camera modes at the press of the thumbstick. Coming back to MGS2's message: personally, I feel that both the Patriots' AI and Solidus made good points - it's just that their methods are questionable, but they do really confront mankind and us as individuals (SELF) at pinpoint accuracy. All too often we catch ourselves blaming anything but ourselves whenever it's inconvenient.
2:07:55 At the end of the fight,Raiden was supposed to cut down an american flag and it would fall on Solidus's body, but then 9/11 happened and apparently americans get ofended easily and so they removed it.
@Hater Keep in mind that 2001 was a different time, the internet was not as rampant as it was today. The people who would get offended either didn't play MGS or didn't play video games. I'm more annoyed at the fact this guy just straight said that Americans get offended easily over flags. The flags don't even scratch the surface of why Americans would have been offended when you consider the other aspects of cut content from this specific set of scenes. Like bruh, the original scene was on the street with first responders and pedestrians surrounding the 1v1 while arsenal gear wreaked havoc on the statue of liberty and all of Manhatten with the twin towers in full view. At a time when 9/11 happened practically 2 months prior. The flags were barely the problem and personally if they were included at the time I doubt it would have been controversial.
I think the speech just before the Solidus fight might just be one of the most profound pieces of writing in any video game. I give props to Kojima, to Fukushima, to everyone involved in the writing here. Even the translation, which, imo, was pretty poor-to-mediocre for most of the game(which I honestly suspect to be due to incompetence), had a noticeable uptick in quality just for that scene. It's too bad that the game never got as much recognition in its heyday as it has now. As you know, people got pretty miffed about not being able to play as Snake(despite the narrative not being suited for a protagonist like him) and proceeded to never let that go. As a result, the plot pretty much flew over most people's heads(including mine, it used to be I had no idea what the Colonel AI was talking about), and to this day, people still complain about Raiden, mainly due to the fact that they fail to understand his character *badly.* At risk of sounding elitist, I still maintain that there are very few "casual filters" in gaming bigger than Raiden. Feel free to tell me that I'm blowing smoke up the devs' arses, but MGS2 is genuinely one of my all-time favorite video games. It was getting there up to this point, and the final battle just totally stuck the landing.
The translation was actually done by one person, who had little help from Konami a lot of the time and wasn't allowed to change anything. This is why some dialogue comes across as weird, because it was literally translated and she wasn't allowed to change anything to make it flow better in English.
It's not that profound, people are subjectivist and can't justify why anything is right or wrong and yet they act as if right and wrong exists, people are fools and tools to destroy themselves at the behest of the pdfile overlords
for those rewatching this episode... MG RAY bossfight starts at 52:17 Final cutscene starts at 1:04:40 Final Codec starts at 1:32:16 Mapocolops' response starts at 1:46:55
Ok so tiny rant here for a sec: Someone brought up that MGS1 never had a specified canon ending until MGS4 because you saw Meryl again. But I’ve since realized that snake pointing to the infinite ammo bandanna means he HAD to have saved Meryl.
I genuinely loved watching every moment of your play through. Watching you learn as you go and being exposed to this content for the first time was a rare but very welcome treat. This was my first exposure to your channel. Absolutely gained a sub from me lol
The "fortress of galuade" that the glitchy colonel mentions is a reference to the excellent but non-canon alternate reality Game Boy Colour game, "Metal Gear: Ghost Babel"
This was a really fun playthrough to watch. I adore this series. I can't tell you how many times I've played through these games. I LOVE the codec call at the end where the AI's explain to you the premise. The whole game you see parallels to MGS1 and I love how the sequel contextualizes it within the story. The Patriots want to control the flow of digital information. They want to be able to selectively edit the information on the internet to suit whatever interests they have. Since the shadow moses incident was something the Patriots never planned on, they orchestrated the big shell incident to mirror it. If they could successfully manipulate raiden throughout the mission, then they could establish their plan of censorship on a global scale. Again. This was a really fun playthrough. Can't wait for you to tackle the others in the series.
At 2:07:26 Solidus looking up was originally set for him to look at the US flag which would have fallen on top of the statue . After 9/11 many things changed
let alone the fact that it predicted the future 20 years ahead. and the fact that it basically predicted a terror attack on manhattan right before 9/11
You really gave us a movie length episode with this. Brilliant playthrough mate, also congrats on 700+ subs, you're on the road to 1,000. It really blows my mind how on point this game was with it's commentary, you'd swear they were able to see into the future or something.
Such an amazing playthrough from such a small channel! I had no idea it was so small at the time. Now I've discovered the channel at 33k subs and am loving every series I watch.
I think the craziest thing about the Patriots reveal is that, when it came out 20 years ago, we all thought it was futuristic gobbledegook. Turns out Kojima is a time traveller and/or Nostradamus-level seer
The funny thing about what the game implies is that S3 was designed for the player. Controlling the consciousness behind the self is controlling you. Jack is the self, the player is the consciousness. Breaking the 4th wall was on purpose. They wanted to jar you out of character and have you question your role in the game. They wanted you to question the orders it was giving you. Telling you to cut it off is part of the exercise. Of course, you won't do that though, because you have to finish the mission. Getting into character in the game means doing some morally questionable stuff for the experience. It's not real after all. But I guess, what it? Either way, the simulation says anyone can be made to be solid snake, and so... you are solid snake. At the end of the day you're just doing what you're told. GW was the developers talking to you and you finishing the game just completes their mission. The only way to truly beat the game is not to play it. Lol
V seems to be a mirror to 2 , but while 2 is about one escaping from manipulation and becoming one's own man instead of a shadow of Snake, V shows us the opposite consequences of one who is molded into a mental copy. The brainwashing of Venom is simply applied to the masses up to mgs4.
Metal Gear Solid 2 is my favorite personally. I think it's one of the darker games in the series. Did you know the voice for Solidus Snake , John Cygan passed away recently?
Probably one of the best LPs I've seen of this game. It's obvious you cared a lot about processing the story and keeping up with it. MGS3 is probably less complicated than this one but I've seen LPs where people misunderstand parts of that too, so be prepared for another wild ride. Also, you'll enjoy 3 and 4 no matter what, but I found that I enjoyed it more when I had memories of what happened in 1 and 2 still fresh on my mind. There are a lot of cool "Oh that makes sense" kind of moments that majority of people miss, but the observant folks with decent memory pick up on. Also, MGS3 has an insane amount of amusing and insightful codec calls - the most by far, in my opinion.
"im gonna try to use the codec more, this may push the episode length longer" oooooh buddy at that moment in time you had no idea what was to come lmao.
And ye, rose as codec interlocutor actually disappears after telling you about baby. After that it's strictly AI(the line "you have to beLIEvie me" proofs it)
@@OhThatRobin Yeah the tone and how much reality is bent in the MGS series is kinda all over the map. Supposedly there was this Japanese novel about an adventure that was somewhat surreal and you can never tell what's going on is what Kojima likes. He wants to keep you guessing and such. A Wild Sheep Chase was the novel.
@@OhThatRobin It's kind of a mistranslation, the line is supposed to be something along the line of Ocelot saying that the supernatural and technology are oftentimes indistinguishable from one-another, not that the supernatural doesn't exist.
"I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with a tuning fork---- " does a raw blink on hara-kiri rock. need scissors! 61!"
Oh, if you are on fire equipping a cardboard box will instantly smother it. Can't be sure it works in this game because it's been so long and I'm failing to google the question but it definitely works in MGS3. You'll really want to remember this.
that codec call fucks everyone up without exception, everyone I've seen stream that part just slowly slumps down in their chair and kind of stops thinking about the game and starts thinking about Facebook and Twitter
I'm pretty sure the intended implication is that she's just... actually magic. It's not like she'd be the first, or last, character in the Metal Gear saga to display supernatural powers. It's dumb, but it is what it is.
the colonel mailed you some fission! 🤣🤣 (its amazing how switching just a few letters, creates a whole other theme). even said "emit" and "continent" (i suppose that could pertain to where it was sent) 🤣🤣
Loving the binge watch journey right now, and getting to this final part of the 2nd game, I loved experiencing nostalgia, but at the same getting your perspective! This is especially considering I haven't listened to that last codec call since I was too young to understand it, so you and I and a lot of us here not already familiar with it, were mindblown together at how... 2001 dude. The foresight and relevancy is insane!
Looking forward to MGS3 playthrough, you have a new subscriber! Btw, just a little thing you need to know about MGS3, don’t worry, no spoilers. There’s a certain codec call in that game (MGS3) that you need to listen before finishing the game. That codec call is hidden throughout almost all the game. It is possible to get that call but it’s very rare. I’ve personally never had that codec call on my own playthroughs, but it is on the internet tho. Keep being awesome.
Man this game just gets more and more relevant every day. Great playthrough mate even if you were getting frustrated early on. Can't wait to watch the rest.
Really enjoyed this LP, MGS2 is one of my all time favourite games and it was great to see it done justice here. The fact that you didn't know all the crazy stuff in the last episode was coming makes it so much better too.
Looking forward to you playing MGS3, it's one of my favourite games ever alongside Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil 4, if not THE favourite amongst them. I wonder if you're aware of Kojima's history with the series and his wish to move away from it after every release but getting pulled back into it. You keep mentioning his vision, so I think that's something that is quite clear and is good to keep in mind when looking at the directions 2 and 3 take after their previous games. And no spoilers but MGS4 is viewed by SOME (including me) as a breaking point where Kojima caved in to deliver fan-service.
Did you end up researching the symbol on the pause menu in Arsenal Gear? It's actually really cool. And the Japanese names he rattles off quickly is actually a subway route in Japan and the names of the stops.
So two main things here. Fortune's little Deus Ex Machina(Which really isn't one since Ocelot mentions in that very speech that Fortune has Psychic capabilities of her own, which we know are real in this world due to Psycho Mantis, ignoring the fact MGS 4 retcons that as nanomachines too because that's all that game's plot knows how to do. It is implied that she could tap into her psychic potential at the moment of her death) serves a thematic purpose of the game's whole "There is no magic, everything is pre-planned and executed through high level tech" contrasted to, no, there are weird people with weird powers and abilities out there. There is free will and chaotic events that create these people, you cannot dictate that. Which is why The Patriots are very much THE Bad Guys. Point 2. While the final codec call is quite prescient, it does get one very important thing wrong. While tribalism exists and is enhanced by the presence of the internet, people don't isolate into their communities and "leak out convenient truths". While this happens, it is the exception, not the norm, as we want our interests and opinions to be heard and we collate our opinions, we debate, we create context collectively. This once again proves The Patriots wrong, because they ARE the bad guys, fundamentally. We do not need someone to create context for us, nor to censor our content. The internet is a sum positive to the human experience, as while change is scary, we are moving slowly towards progress, even if the internet also amplifies the voices pushing that back. The internet simply amplifies what's always been here and we perceive things as more radical than they actually are.
That part about the fortress that you didn’t want to look up is actually from a non canon Metal Gear spin-off that was released on the GameBoy Color. It’s called Metal Gear Ghost Babel but in North America it was called Metal Gear Solid, probably to boost sales. The game is really good and it takes place in an alternate universe where the original Metal Gear is the only game that’s canon in this universe, Metal Gear 2 and Metal Gear Solid on the ps1 never happened.
Hey my guy i posted on your final episode of MGS1 just two days ago and after watching all your videos on MGS2 got a few thoughts i wanna share. I think i have replayed this game more than any other game ever i just love it, at least 30 times and the tanker section alone probably closer to 100 than i want to admit so i apologise for shouting at my laptop while you was playing ha. Your last two episodes were brilliant just the slow realisation what is happening and the full story being played out. This game is a masterpiece and i am going on record to state that no other game in history has aged as well as MGS2 in terms of tone and our real life world now. I would love to talk to Kojima and ask him his thoughts now on the game and how our world has turned out 20 years since this game got released. Finally I played this in 2001 when i was just 13 way too young to fully grasp it but taking life lessons from the game and wishing if i could play one game again for the first time now as an adult it would be MGS2 so thank you for for allowing me to through you, cannot wait to start watching MGS3 tomorrow
"You don't deserve to be free, we aren't the ones smothering the world. You Are." I still get goosebumps. My 12-year-old brain was blown away by this scene, I must have played the ending several dozen times to keep listening to that codec call. It shaped the way I saw the world, it was hard to understand but I knew it was important. What an amazing ending that was years ahead of its time.
I had a really good time watching you since mgs1. Ive played the games since Release 100 of times. But that blind playthrough let me kind of revisited it again from a other other Perspective. Thx Here a few things: The m4 aiming is cut on xbox because The Playstation has pressure sensitiv buttons. So half press Button is aiming and full press is Shooting. You can see Vamp in the Background at Federal Hall Near a car And i must admit you. You understand the story very well for your first playthrough. I think i needed a few playthroughs to see as much connections as you did. But i was young at that time. i think growing up with these games gives you a hole other Perspective of live. A true masterpice and ive meet kojima 10 years ago and thankt him for everythink. He signed my ps1
I wish you wouldn't have spoiled yourself on the timeline, and just looked it up after you were done with the series. The more blind the better. :P Great LP, friend. In terms of the last two boss fights, you did far better than I did on my first playthrough. It was also hilarious watching your mind get repeatedly blown throughout this entire beast of a video. You had some mistakes and bad moments, due to you not paying attention and/or forgetting things. But overall, a Solid performance on both the Tanker and Plant chapters! I shall now venture back in time with you, to witness the origins of the greatest character in the MGS universe -- The Kerotan Frog!
Rose: Ok so not only was i a spy for the patriots and have been manipulating your life while making a record of it truman show style as well as artificially modifying my looks and attitude to lure you in like livestock but i also didn't really love you at first at all. Raiden: WHAT THE FUCK?!? Rose: but now i like you and i'm PREGANANANT Raiden: I love you.
I think this has to be one of my all time favourite reactions to that final codec call, you started joking around, you TRIED to joke your way through that call, but the more the Patriots talked, the more you sank in horror, that speech is just way too heavy to take lightly!
Amazing amazing game, it gives me chills, even if I don't fully understand all of its themes and messages lol Awesome playthrough, cannot fucking wait for you to get to 3. It's not so much of a mind fuck, but its brilliant in it's own ways. Bummer that you're taking a break, but I completely understand, the first two in row is a lot to take in.
Also a side note, this video was hilarious. I was laughing my ass off at the utter disbelief and surprise in your reactions to this game imploding in on itself lol
I really enjoyed this, i never played the game...this is the second playthrough I've seen of MGS 2, the first one was ages ago and didn't appreciate all the relevant content since i was young...so excited for MGS 3 it's by far my favorite, a true masterpiece!
Very awesome playthrough. Going from getting blasted by invisible mines to beating the perfect clone. Try out the Snake Tales and extra missions, they're great and I probably had more hours playing through those than the main game. Also would like to say the intro for MGS3 has no spoilers or anything whatsoever, it even plays in the middle of the game in-between a cutscene as kind of a: "This is where shit gets real!" Just promise you won't skip it for the last episode, it's a fan favorite!
Also forgot to say the original MSX Metal Gear 1&2 comes with MGS3 HD, they're pretty fun and lore related, maybe you can do it as a special retro 8-bit series idk if they're in your comfort zone of games but I say give it a try since they're simple and you can see the roots of the series.
I always thought that the whole "Fission Mailed" part always felt like one of those moments when you are dreaming, and suddenly start to feel suspicious of the dream environment. If you played this game in a dream, then you probably _would_ experience something like that; like, the game would look familiar, but also show some weird inconsistencies.
Actually I'm gonna blow your mind with something very subtlety hinted in the ending of this game that will 100% effect MGS4 and more or less confirms a theory you came up with here. Although it's a bit graney in the video, watch the far background of 2:11:49 to about 2:11:57 Next to a parked car there's a person in the far background that's unmoving but specifically watching Snake and Raiden. Doesn't he look like a character you've been fighting the whole game and thought was finally dead?
I like how the patriots entire "proof" that the S3 program works is actually totally bullshit. The program didnt handle the situation in any way. If Snake and Otacon hadnt showed up raiden would have been screwed. Raiden literally DIDNT do everything they told him to. They told him over and over not to trust Snake. Unless their plan is like palpatine when a bad writer is in charge: "Even when my plan fails its actually not a failure because i totally planned for that plan to fail so that my real plan could be planned" bullshit. Unless thats the case theyre totally full of shit and ironically proving themselves to be guilty of the things they're condemning humanity for and deciding that what sounds the most convenient to them must be the truth.
I don't think anyone mentioned it, but the HF turning blue has Raiden turn the blade over - it's animated - so he's hitting them with the back of the blade. The back of the blade doesn't have a cutting edge.
The way in which this game becomes more and more relevant as time goes on makes me really wary of what we'll see in the next 20 years. I mean... the man created Death Stranding now...
I dunno if you looked it up or someone already told you, Galuade is from Ghost Babel, the GBC game. It's non canon, like an alternate MGS1. It's pretty good. Also the random string of Japanese is a list of train stations. It's also something Grey Fox says when he's freaking out. "How did fortune do that?" Because she IS Lady Luck. The gadget worked but she has luck/powers too.
As someone who's been on the internet forever and played this as a kid, I know it's been reiterated a ton but this game in particular changed my life legitimately. I had played the first game before it and this was on a whole different level. I know a lot of people prefer 3 but this to me is truly a timeless masterpiece.
I agree that last codec call was insane and relavaint to today's society with access to the Internet. The Internet is filled with lots of pointless junk and has caused wars and drama. This is why society has become worse because people don't want to accept the truth so they come up with half truths and then people will takes sides but they don't have the full context behind it 1:47:09
I can't wait to see you play Metal Gear Solid 3 (my favorite and in my opinion the best Metal Gear game). Also if you're into horror games you should play Corpse Party for the PSP, you should be able to use an emulator for it, DON'T play the Steam version, the character models look atrocious in that version.

Now look at the future that we’re in now with A.I’s taking over.
Numbers can't think or be conscious therefore ai is a propaganda term and it's just pdfile companies and pdfile bankers and pdfile governments programming g4yeye and lying to the useful idiots saying it can think, lol what a joke
The only thing that matters is that you are not spoiled.
A well-written bad guy is supposed to be technically right but somehow misguided.
@@Etrius10 not necessarily, not every villain needs to be understandable. It’s just good ones are usually understandable
Until people can justify why something is right or wrong then it doesn't matter, they will continue to worship there subjectivism and the death cult
It's an incredible game... love the philosophical comentary
Not really it's philosophy is garbage like all philosophy because it can't justify basic claims or why something is right or wrong
MGS2 should be required playing for all high schooler's.
Why
2:07:55
At the end of the fight,Raiden was supposed to cut down an american flag and it would fall on Solidus's body, but then 9/11 happened and apparently americans get ofended easily and so they removed it.
Don't change the narrative, its because the team thought it would be in bad taste not because americans would be offended.
@@Yakasuki would Americans not be offended? I mean, we invaded countries that had nothin to do with 9/11
@Hater Keep in mind that 2001 was a different time, the internet was not as rampant as it was today.
@@Yakasukithe irony of you getting offended by someone saying you get offended easily is so, so sweet.
@@munky342more so the fact that he's just straight giving incorrect information off as fact, more than anything
MG RAY bossfight starts at 52:17
Final cutscene starts at 1:04:40
Final Codec starts at 1:32:16
Mapocolops' response starts at 1:46:55
Ok so tiny rant here for a sec:
Someone brought up that MGS1 never had a specified canon ending until MGS4 because you saw Meryl again. But I’ve since realized that snake pointing to the infinite ammo bandanna means he HAD to have saved Meryl.
The irony of me watching this on April 30th of all days. Never played the game or seen any other playthroughs of it... It's pure coincidence.
Damn I was 2 days late 😭
After 9/11 many things changed
bro this game is a fucking masterpiece hideo kojima is a maniac. literally nobody puts as much into their video games as this guy
let alone the fact that it predicted the future 20 years ahead. and the fact that it basically predicted a terror attack on manhattan right before 9/11
let alone the gameplay innovation, story, tone. let alone what he does as a director and cinematographer with the cutscenes
You really gave us a movie length episode with this. Brilliant playthrough mate, also congrats on 700+ subs, you're on the road to 1,000.
It really blows my mind how on point this game was with it's commentary, you'd swear they were able to see into the future or something.
Thank you so much buddy! Glad you enjoyed
Such an amazing playthrough from such a small channel! I had no idea it was so small at the time. Now I've discovered the channel at 33k subs and am loving every series I watch.
@@Mapocolops And now you have 33k!!! Congrats on your growth!
Lol
“Given the right situation, the right story, anyone can be shaped into Snake”
Hits different after beating Mgs5, huh?
V seems to be a mirror to 2 , but while 2 is about one escaping from manipulation and becoming one's own man instead of a shadow of Snake, V shows us the opposite consequences of one who is molded into a mental copy. The brainwashing of Venom is simply applied to the masses up to mgs4.
shhh spoilers
After that it's strictly AI(the line "you have to beLIEvie me" proofs it)
“There’s no such thing as a witch!” -solid snake, a man who has met a psychic last game and a vampire this game
Same thing with Ocelot’s “no such thing as the supernatural” like????
@@OhThatRobin Yeah the tone and how much reality is bent in the MGS series is kinda all over the map. Supposedly there was this Japanese novel about an adventure that was somewhat surreal and you can never tell what's going on is what Kojima likes. He wants to keep you guessing and such. A Wild Sheep Chase was the novel.
@@OhThatRobin It's kind of a mistranslation, the line is supposed to be something along the line of Ocelot saying that the supernatural and technology are oftentimes indistinguishable from one-another, not that the supernatural doesn't exist.
@@vinoperson1239 that’s actually really interesting I hadn’t taken that into account :>
The game is talking about itself, it's creators motivations, development, launch and the world as a whole at the same time.
"I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with a tuning fork---- " does a raw blink on hara-kiri rock. need scissors! 61!"
This is still the most surreal thing that has ever happened in a game for me
Oh, if you are on fire equipping a cardboard box will instantly smother it.
Fortune probably had lots of left over electromagnetic waves in her body over years of using that railgun is my theory of how the missiles deflected
I await your MGS3 and 4 playthroughs.

GW predicted the future.
Spoiler me on where to get it
Man this game just gets more and more relevant every day. Great playthrough mate even if you were getting frustrated early on. Can't wait to watch the rest.
no, zero relevance. sadly because we need misinformation cnesoring etc
There is definitely more than just fan service in MGS4's story though.
Did you end up researching the symbol on the pause menu in Arsenal Gear? It's actually really cool. And the Japanese names he rattles off quickly is actually a subway route in Japan and the names of the stops.
You’re playing the series the way it should be! 1-4!
With everything going on with ai this game again just gets even more relevant!
Enjoyed the play through 😊
So two main things here.
Google is GW, Trump is Solidus and The World Economic Forum are The Patriots.
Bingo, hit the nail on the head right there
That part about the fortress that you didn’t want to look up is actually from a non canon Metal Gear spin-off that was released on the GameBoy Color.
What an amazing ending that was years ahead of its time.
you are free otherwise you couldnt write that dumb rightist sh1t now would you?
Mapo ur that kind of utuber, which i click like button before even ur intro ends. keep up good work, thanks a lot man!
You got a new subscriber. Really looking forward to mgs3(my fave) & 4(the best in terms of story IMO).
Great job! Can't wait for the MGS3 videos!
Thank you so much for this amazing series! I cannot wait to continue on and watch Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4!
I had a really good time watching you since mgs1. Ive played the games since Release 100 of times. But that blind playthrough let me kind of revisited it again from a other other Perspective. Thx
Here a few things:
The m4 aiming is cut on xbox because
The Playstation has pressure sensitiv buttons. So half press Button is aiming and full press is Shooting.
You can see Vamp in the Background at Federal Hall
Near a car
And i must admit you.
Great LP, friend.
I really enjoyed this thank you!
Rose: Ok so not only was i a spy for the patriots and have been manipulating your life while making a record of it truman show style as well as artificially modifying my looks and attitude to lure you in like livestock but i also didn't really love you at first at all.
Raiden: WHAT THE FUCK?!?
Rose: but now i like you and i'm PREGANANANT
Raiden: I love you.
sss worked
Watching this during a nasty thunderstorm. That final codec just got a lot creepier
On Extreme mode you have to kill all 25 RAYS and there are no rations in the game except for 2 specific guards
"I'm pregante"... jahahahaa.
it was an awesome playtought man. Thanks for sharing. ^_^
I think this has to be one of my all time favourite reactions to that final codec call, you started joking around, you TRIED to joke your way through that call, but the more the Patriots talked, the more you sank in horror, that speech is just way too heavy to take lightly!
Amazing amazing game, it gives me chills, even if I don't fully understand all of its themes and messages lol
Awesome playthrough, cannot fucking wait for you to get to 3.
What I could understand these Patriots seem to have a darwanist view on the "softer side" of humanity (history/culture/ideas etc)
1:32:40 if you follow what the AI talking about is some scary shit. Kojima knew what happen to our future.
Shout out to Agness Kaku for making sense of Kojima's writing, especially in that last Codec call.
I will watch the intro in the first episode then thank you for the heads up!
If you played this game in a dream, then you probably _would_ experience something like that;
like, the game would look familiar, but also show some weird inconsistencies.
This game is uncannily accurate
In the original Metal Gear, Big Boss tells you to turn off the game console also. Also the Pliskin outfit is Snakes outfit in MG1
"who's there?!"....."no one!" 🤣🤣
Sometimes humanity truly is it's own worst enemy. And the internet only added fuel to the fire.
1:15:56 ocelot was roasting solidus's plan and existence on very scale....
Awesome playthrough
Actually I'm gonna blow your mind with something very subtlety hinted in the ending of this game that will 100% effect MGS4 and more or less confirms a theory you came up with here.
Although it's a bit graney in the video, watch the far background of 2:11:49 to about 2:11:57
Next to a parked car there's a person in the far background that's unmoving but specifically watching Snake and Raiden.
What an awesome journey together!
The way in which this game becomes more and more relevant as time goes on makes me really wary of what we'll see in the next 20 years. I mean... the man created Death Stranding now...
Oh noo, when you put it that way, lol... You might not be wrong, we'll see!
That man… That man…
I don’t think the colonel ever calls him Snake.
"Who's the real enemy" is really the question that persists throughout the entire series.
RUclips algorithm be like "we are here to create context"
the colonel was AI, glitching from the GW v-irus inserted earlier in game.
I never realized the dog tag shows what I put in at the node. Even after several playthroughs. I’m shocked!
Project was already underway tanker sunk 2 years ago, along with your old man, and rose meeting raiden.
