I am an IA since 2006. Florida has not fostered an environment that keeps carriers in the state. It has been not easy to keep work flowing year-long.

There are MANY states that are in desperate need of adjusters - both staff and IA. Northwest, Northeast, West Coast to start.

Do a quick indeed search on insurance adjuster jobs….

Major carriers have over hired staff adjusters to save money and prevent deploying out independent adjusters. It’s actually a smart move for carriers but bad for IA’s.

I don’t see how carriers are saving money by mass hiring. Considering that average salary of a staff adjuster is 60K. Add in benefits like medical, dental, and 401K contributions and you’re looking at 100+K per adjuster easily. Not to mention equipment cost, training cost, and traveling expenses such as a vehicle and lodging. Things that IA’s fund themselves as private contractors. Hiring staff is definitely not cheaper.

@@BrandoLance-qi5ui we could definitely argue it’s not cheaper but initially or at the moment it’s cheaper because an entry level staff adjuster will only make 40K and benefits would not kick in until a year. With that being said even if you had an experienced staff adjuster making 55-60K with benefits equaling out to 100K. I’m an inexperienced adjuster that made 54K off three months of deployment last year which was my 65% cut when you include the IA firms 35% cut the insurance carrier was billed for 83K. That’s just for 3 months, imagine me being deployed for 6-9 months! Insurance carriers are definitely saving not using IA’s.

Staff is way cheaper. Your IA firms overhead on your work is way more than you think.
Staff adjusters are also wildly more efficient, faster, and more accurate and carriers can better control the quality.

Hey Matt. Sounds like the carriers have had a love-hate relationship with adjusters for years based on the "pendulum" comment. Based on your experience, what will make carriers swing back to using IAs?

The guest sounds frustrated that things are not going how he wants or expected. You can’t believe these myths and theories, the most important truth is that technological advances will impact all job opportunities no matter the industry. Or maybe he’s trying to scare off new adjusters and create less competition 🤣

It's an interesting theory and I agree that a lot of folks on social media will downplay the industry to scare people away. However, AdjusterTV doesn't do that and I think Julian is incredibly busy. The bottom line of this clip is that IAs are expensive in more ways than one and they've been trying to find a way to not use us for literal decades and haven't done it yet.
Good adjusters work as much as they want.

@@AdjusterTV exactly! I’ve had way too many veteran adjusters some with 30+ years in the field tell me that the best adjusters will have work even when things are slow. It’s our responsibility to become an A rated adjuster that firms or carriers prioritize. I’m sure Julian is an awesome adjuster and just was sharing his experience. I’m only a year in, just trying to be like you and Julian someday and make the big bucks 🙇🏾‍♂️

Who would not be frustrated with the way this industry is going? Do you enjoy taking a pay cut every year? The same T&E hour rates from 10 years ago and the expenses are going up. I’ve been I this industry for 20 years. I’m currently transitioning out of this field. You are nothing more than a body to these companies.

@@rrrod411 I don’t disagree with anything you said. I approach life differently and when things are out of my control I take it to chin and keep pushing, I refuse to let things stress or bother me. I always have multiple ways to make money so if one fail go to the others. Don’t let the things in life get to you man, we only live once. Just find a solution or keep it moving.

I am two years in and was doing remote auto and enjoying it. That was my path and it just went belly up for me because I’m new. Not sure how to rebound and stay in the industry without going staff-which I have no desire to do.
