    Have to say this video walked me through changing out my intake manifold on my daughters 2008 Sebring. Went relatively sooth. Had more trouble with the electrical connectors than anything. Thank you for this information, saved me a lot of money.

      Hows the swap going?

    • @wbrowning52ify
      @wbrowning52ify 3 года назад

      @@wesleyboelter9636 I have finished changing out the engine. Went with a long block from Dodge. The refit of parts was fairly straightforward. Installment was a little tricky by having to tilt the engine for the transmission bolt up. Orher than that, finding bolts and replacement parts was the most challenging. With the worldwide lockdown going on for a year plus, parts are getting harder to get.
      Once everything was put together, the initial start up was uneventful.
      I've done some other work as well. I replaced the struts, tires, and had wheels aligned. On the AC, I bumped the charge a few pounds since the pressures were on the low side. I also replaced the three door actuators under the dash.
      I've put about two hundred miles on the vehicle now. It is driving well. The engine is performing better as I get more milage on it. It still needs some freeway miles on it to tune the engine with the control module. I may be able to do that this week. It just depends on what comes along.

    Great video. I watched it after removing my intake and all the procedures are correct. I removed mine the exact same way. I however did break a fastener clip taking the connector off the intake located on the bottom left. It was really stuck in place. If this causes a problem I will have to replace the connector and solder the wires on the new connector.

    Thanks man, This was exactly what I needed, i didn't want to get all my damn tools out to do this so i just wrote down everything in a list. This engine is in a LOAD of cars, it appears to be Designed to have this failure. Just as the alternator is a piece Of crap design. A really spendy one. Just crossed 100K on the 2008. I am on the Third "3" alternator! ( get the Life time warranty, you will not regret it) I got this part ( Manifold) with a 2 year warranty. Check around because this part can be had for between 250 to 600.00 and it;s the SAME PART. I personally believe I could clean the old one up but I just went ahead and got a new one complete.
    other problems with this car are so numerous it;s insane But I would like to tell folks who are having electrical disturbances that your car is not possessed. what it is when your cars seemingly freaking out - shooting windshield wiper fluid when you have the turn signal on , honking when you didn't honk and so on. believe it or not. WEAK battery Or weak connection! Also bad alternator can cause that battery to fry.
    I know sounds weird but its that easy. did I say easy? your battery is in a jacked up place man! inside the Bumper driver side! YUP> get those cables cleaned up right and make sure your battery is good to go and your electrical problems - for the most part will vanish. there can be enough juice to start and run your car and still have bad problems from lack of power. This has happened to me personally several times.
    the alternator is a fairly new crappy design. it has a pulley on it that is made to disengage the charging force to reduce stress and supposedly save fuel when you do not need to have the charger running. this new pulley design ( I call anything new that is made after 1999/ LOL ) fails and the alternator makes a nasty noise that is hard to pinpoint. It will sound like it could be coming from the idler, or the power steering or the A/C but its that damn alt pulley.
    GET A LIFETIME warranty one or you will be sorry, I had one go at 55K then again @ 73K and then right after I had to replace the entire transmission ( yeah @ 85K ) it happened again. so far so good now at 100 K with the alternator - Now i just have to do this manifold up - LOL Ha ha. yeah this will be the last thing i am sure. BS>
    i will never ever buy anything like this car again. I am not a Mechanic! I feel like I bought a DIY mechanics course when i got this car.

I replaced my gasket but I'm still getting a P0300 code. I was planning on removing the EGR and checking it/ cleaning it. I have searched the Jeep, I have searched Google, and I still can not find it. Could you help push me into the right direction.

      Misfire codes require duplicating the skip and then using a scanner to actually watch that misfire to see where and what cylinders need to be checked. Otherwise you are going at it blind. There are always basic items like swapping plugs and coils to other cylinders to see if the skip/misfire moves. I havent come across any real issues with this engine when it comes to misfires.

      I'll try that. I was just following down the list from the code site because it isn't acting like a plug issue. I had a code for my crankshaft sensor. I replaced it and now the only code left is the P0300 and nothing else. I'll change the plugs and coils around to see if I can pick up anything. Thank you for the tip.

    I have a 2012 Dodge Journey and it’s popping p2173 code. I replaced the throttle body and still pops code and car goes into limp mode when it’s cold outside. I used carb cleaner to look for vacuum leaks and when I spray the top of intake manifold is bogs down. I’m thinking it needs just a new gasket. Do u agree?

      Its very possible. I have seen that seal get distorted and flattened over time. I would certainly remove it and check to see how bad it is. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.

    I have 1997 dodge 2500 5.9 cummins 2wd auto. My abs light and E -Brake light are on and it jumps in and out of over drive. I have replaced abs speed sensor tran. speed sensor front rotors, brakes, calibers, inner outer bearings, and seals and I'm still having the same problem. I have done all the work myself THANKS to RUclips. I love my truck HELP ME OUT

      +Michael Hatcher What we need to do is have the codes checked. With the lights being on......there will be a code stored in the ABS control module. That code will determine what the next step will be.

    This video is very good. I have two questions.
    I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger 2.4 cylinder. My starter has been replacing four times in less than forty day time frame, yes that is what I said. The car cut off on me while driving without any warning while I was on the interstate. No crank No start
    1.WHAT DO YOU THINK IS?
    2. How do you replace a PCV valve?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 лет назад

      +truecarolyn truecar I can say that I haven't had to replace a starter of this engine as of yet. They seem to hold up great. I am assuming that they keep replacing it and its not the cause. Its something that needs to be checked very well so that it can be isolated. The cutting off while driving is probably related and not a starter issue. Now the hard thing is having it acting up when its checked so that the diag can be accurate. There is no one cause that I can mention at this point. I would physically have to start checking things such as codes....power and gound leading to the starter. The charging system to make sure the battery is good and that the alternator is charging the battery. Any of these can cause an issue.

    Hi, I have a recurrent code P2004 and P2017 in my chrysler sebring 2008 2.4, first my mechanic cleaned the Intake manifold, valve and de throttle body, after two weeks driving it the codes came back, he replaced the intake manifold runner valve for a new one, every time he tried to fix it he erease the codes, and again the codes come back. In the moment any sign of problem only the codes, now it sounds a clicks when you put the key in "on", and when I'm driving up to 40mph and I stop accelerating, it increases the RPM, like if I have been accelerating

    if the intake runner valves are sticking setting a code could you not just clean inside the intake manifold ports around the valves and try to remove the carbon buildup? i have an 08 sebring with code p2015 replaced actuator and still setting the same code, im going to try to clean the inside of the manifold off. only have 87k miles lol

    I have an 08 avenger with the p2004 code I don't have much knowledge of vehicles so these vids help a ton. I'm looking into replacing the manifold, but is it possible that it could just be the runner control valve and can that be removed without taking the entire manifold off?

    You are a legend, thank you very much for your time and knowledge. A quick question, I have a dodge avenger 2008 2.0 petrol. It is a right hand drive (UK) it sometimes blows warm air on the passanger side (left side of the car) and cold on the driver's side (right hand side). At times i get some warm air coming out for few seconds on the driver's side but overall its always freezing air. Please help I have tried flushing the pipes that circulate the water to the car with no joy.

      The heater core has a very common problem from the factory when it was made the
      Casting leaves sand behind causing a partially clogged heater core which causes cold air on passenger side.replacement of heater core is necessary to fix.

    Could you just try clean it overnight with carb cleaner and see if it stops sticking? This is an expensive part.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 лет назад

      The issue is that its plastic and cleaners such as that would damage it. I understand it being expensive but I havent seen any other fixes other then replacement.

    Have a P2010 and P2008 on an ‘07 Caliber 2.0 (05/06 build). It bucks and jerks under 3000 RPM. I removed the actuator and it rotates about 30 degrees if I use pliers on the tab that engages the rod the flappers are attached to. When I apply 12V it only rotates about 15 degrees. I can also move the flapper rod, but only about 15 degrees as well. Does this sound like it is functioning correctly?
