I'm glad they don't automatically assume the worst about Dust. Yes he did bad things and he is no way in the right, but he's also not evil, just broken. I don't know if he's like this for you but in my headcanon he simply acts evil(after beating Frisk/Chara) so that people don't get close to him, as he is afraid that if you get too close to him he might be forced to kill you next. Also, for Nightmare I recommend the video Fruiting Bodies.
