Just to keep safe, I occasionally look dead into my webcam, and say "I know you're there", so that anyone who may be watching gets freaked out and might stop.
Kind of a sick joke of the hackers to pair Kenny with Hector, who has kids, for the rest of the tasks. Imagine the aftermath of that character getting divorced by his wife and losing his kids, only to see on the news that Kenny was locked up for looking at child porn. Hector had spent so much time with Kenny while also encouraging him, sympathizing with him and apologizing to him, only to find out later he was helping a predator. It's gut wrenching to think about. Really adding insult to injury.
__SK. Whoa, really? I'll have to rewatch the episode again then because I did not pick up on that. But I feel like I have to say that this could just be a continuity error because then a lot of people might've missed this huge chunk of story and detail and that's a little unsatisfying.
that's what i thought! i mean i read somewhere that all the guys who were hacked (all except the woman) were pedophiles. so i thought maybe he tricked a little girl, a 15 years old or something to meet, maybe telling her he is a kid too, and they have all the mails they exchanged. But if it where like that they should have made it clearer.. like having her wife saying "15 years old??" instead of "Mindy?" at the end, so e could know, cause not many people saw it that way. so i think it's not.. but it would have been great
Liverpool 32 oh if you have been reading the comments you have spoiled the episode for you :/ I dont think scary is the word! Although anyone would be terrified if it happens to you. It keeps you at the edge of your seat that for sure. but its totally safe to watch!
Just saw Shut Up and Dance. My goodness Alex was phenomenal. His breakdown scene in the car and also the bank - that was truly something else. What an amazing find. And yay Bronn!
Not to take too much credit away from him but the director is extremely competent and that helps out actors a lot. Every episode in this series the actors gets praised which means the director is the cause
i feel so bad for him to be playing this character:((( irl he is so adorable, innocent and shy...but i guess its the contrast that brings out the essence in this episode
This is actually my favorite episode of Black mirror. It really challenged the way you think and warps your reality. You sympathize with Kenny, but then towards the end you kind of rethink everything he's done from the beginning of the episode. Like when Kenny had returned the toy truck to the little girl, you see it as a kind gesture, but then when you realize what he had done, was there an ulterior motive?? Lawther really did a great job selling that role because I felt personally attacked at the end of the episode lol ( in a good way)
What I didn’t get was the man who first met Kenny on a motorcycle. At the end of the episode I’m still not sure what he did. I think he cheated or something and they called him a monster
This episode made me so shook. I'm so happy Alex is so sweet and adorable in real life. He truly is an amazing actor to pull that off, make all of us watchers crazy and have an episode of a tv show hit us so hard! The writers and everyone involved are brilliant. Scary, but brilliant.
I had such a crisis when I finished the episode because I went through it all feeling so bad for the guy being blackmailed but in the end it's revealed that he was looking at child porn and it's like....? ?? who's side am i on now?
no t cool I don't feel like I'm special, I think I'm in minority. I don't sympathize, but I empathize. I think we should treat mental disorders, not isolate people with mental disorders, especially those who end up hurting people. Logically speaking I think if pedophiles weren't so afraid to be torched, they would come out and seek treatment, and children would be safer.
"Shut Up & Dance" and "White Christmas" just bend you over Cosby you then you thank them... The actor playing Kenny was SO authentic. Can't wait to see him in more roles.
The question is who is the worse monster? The millions of little simple monsters who can only barely help what they've become, or the few elite monsters who take extreme pleasure torturing the smaller monsters in the most grotesque ways.
The blackmailers were definitively the worst monsters. As horrible as Kenny's tendencies are, i also think that he didn't choose them, he was clearly conflicted with it, which is why he tried to kill himself at the end. I think the blackmailers were motivated by sadism, not justice.
Zachary Goddard And for the record it was one of the most immoral things you can do as it stands. Just want that to be clear... :| This is a hard subject to discuss.
Zachary Goddard I don't think it was the first time! I think they gave little hints of his tendencies throughout the episode. Him lingering on the little girl, him lingering on the drawing, not being able to relate to the guys at work, being oblivious to the flirting from his manager, but the main one seemed to be was his absolute panic about his sister using his laptop! The lock he put on the outside the door while also having one on the inside.
Britteny Cassel Very true though while it is one of the most immoral things you can do, it seems it's also one of the most compulsory crimes out there.
Can we all just remember the fact that Alex is an actor and not actually like Kenny, it's a film. I've seen so many reactions and they act like they hate the actor because of what film they played. like guys, come on.
Alex Lawther really is so adorable here. i know a lot of people are still reeling from how realistically portrayed his character is in the episode but i've already heard of his performances in other films / series before i finally got around to watching SUaD so it was easy for me to un-immerse myself. idk. casting director really did a good job though. Alex has that air of naivete about him that makes him a convincing wimpy seemingly-innocent teen.
from season one, episode one obviously stood out the most. And in my opinion, that episode raised the bar too high for what was to be expected of the show. I thought it wasn't going to get better than that, and I was right. Most of the episodes that followed were from good to alright. My most hated one being white bear, from season two. But what netflix did.... I mean in the original seasons all the episodes were interesting, except for white bear. But Netflix's episodes were all good. So well directed, and the stories were really interesting as well. ....Damn, I had a really complex point to make while tying this but I forgot. Anyway! great show! check it out!
phil can suck a nut The character was beyond stupid. She wasn't useful what so ever and depended on others to complete the story. I get everything was scripted, but to have the main character. the supposed hero, be a complete waste of time is kind of disappointing. I get that some characters start out being really useless, but they learn over time. This character stayed stupid and scared the whole episode, which made it tedious to watch. Anyways. That's why I hate white bear. All the other episodes are amazing though.
Ali Hadi he *was* looking at her in a different kind of way as well, it felt a little bit creepy before we learn what happened but now it just fucks with me on every level
0:56 when he said that, the title of the show finally made sense to me. The show is a darker version of our reality, that is only a second away. Therefore it's like looking in a black mirror. I feel really stupid right now.
Supafly03. Oh wow, really? I also interpreted it as a mirror of reality and that the black part did have to do with a monitor like a tv since that's where we're most likely watching it from and that this is mirroring our own reality in a slightly more exaggerated way. That even with advanced technology, we're still the same sick and depraved people we're capable of being. San Junipero shows how great we can be through love too though. So maybe I'm not completely wrong but probably took it to mean more?
The show is not about technology, it's about the people using it, abusing it or being abused by it, the show is about humans and how we manipulate or are manipulated by technology, but at the end of the day the only victim is us. Technology isn't evil, it can't be, it's just a tool. When you turn off the device you are using it goes away and only your reflection remains. Black Mirror.
the whole time watching this I was just feeling so sorry for your man Kenny, then even the mention of child porn and my mind just blew up, pretty scary
This is by far my favourite Black Mirror episode. It has the feels of _San Junipero,_ the blackmail element of _National Anthem,_ the suspense and the sick twisted sense of vigilante justic in _White Bear_ and _Hated in the Nation_ and it combines all those elements with a truly disturbing twist.
what i notice is that irl he is so innocent and pure. the characters that he plays in shows and movies are kinda messed up lol. idk, just after watching the black mirror episode and then seeing this is bamboozlin me
Alex has been fantastic in all his roles so far. In Imitation game he was amazing, X+Y was decent and now the Netflix show as James. He’s actually so promising
A lot of younger folk won’t remember Robson and Jerome being an unbelievable huge chart success in the mid 90s... between that and Celine Dion i had to endure a LOT as a kid music wise in my mams car! What a phenomenal performance by both of these talented people. A tour re force and an incredible, thought provoking episode that stays with you. Top talent.
He's such a fucking incredible actor (the one who plays the main teenage character in the episode). What a stunningly powerful performance. As disturbing and bleak as this episode is, it's IMO the most memorable from the entire series and probably my favorite.
This episode reflects the fact that there is no hero, there is no perfect human, and some people thing everyone should be perfect like the hacker in the episode who forces his victims to do way worse things than what they were originally doing just because he considers them a fare punishment
it's not often you come across an actor like Alex. there are not many reserved or soft spoken actors like him nowadays. however I feel that he'll be able to get along with eddie redmayne quite well, both of them have similar temperament.
Dino Spumoni for some reason I always imagined it to be like your phone screen, when it’s off it black and you can see you’re reflection in it, like a black mirror and black mirror is all about technology so I thought it kinda linked in some way
Out of all the episodes this is the one I always think about, so messed up. People say you have to watch this episode twice but after you find out the twist at the.... no thanks, once is enough for me. How tense is that phone call with his mother ? 😧
Aside from freddie highmore whom I really appreciate as an actor/celebrity. I find alex very adorable he's so soft spoken a bit of a shy type, he doesn't even have social media accounts. He has such an adorable personality, so unlike among the guys in Hollywood.
Kid is an amazing actor.. when he put on the hat and glasses to rob the bank i was dying!!! Just that outfit alone changed his appearance so much lmfao he looked like a young johnny depp or some shit from fear and loathing ahaha made me literally like like 10 years older xD fucking great episode
Best plot twist episode at the end as a viewer you where on his side and discovering the horrific truth of his deeds your left dumb struck this show is art
Amazing episode. The blackmailers are still villains. Being a vigilante is no excuse when it comes to coercion to rob a bank (with trauma to innocent staff and customers) and coercion to murder. And, if not for the blackmailer, Hector wouldn't have committed a crime - he was just planning an affair. The texts on multiple phones would provide much evidence against the blackmailers. After all that happened, there would be a huge manhunt, and the blackmailer would probably soon send up behind bars with Kenny, though it's hard to see him surviving prison, or even wanting to.
I kinda saw it coming in this episode. Like in White Bear in figured out they weren't exactly the victims that sick game made them appear. I actually guessed it.
Had to come here and remind myself they're just actors and everything is chill.
Andrew Caume same, i had to get closure or i wont be able to sleep at night
But it’s not that far away from happening in real life
Yeooo fact😭
Watch End of the F***king world. Alex lawther (the left guy) is in that show. It's sooo goood.
aya plsno

i thought i was the only one who did this
I think that's schizophrenia, mate.
Haha I thought I was the only one that did this too lol
Or you could cover it with a sticker or something
Kind of a sick joke of the hackers to pair Kenny with Hector, who has kids, for the rest of the tasks. Imagine the aftermath of that character getting divorced by his wife and losing his kids, only to see on the news that Kenny was locked up for looking at child porn. Hector had spent so much time with Kenny while also encouraging him, sympathizing with him and apologizing to him, only to find out later he was helping a predator. It's gut wrenching to think about. Really adding insult to injury.
Jessie those hackers are very clever to set them up together. Because the cheater must feel like shit knowing he helped a monster. KIDS, KENNYYYY
Jessie does anything scary happen like someone dying cause I'm kinda traumatized after watching the end of the fucking world
Liverpool 32 oh if you have been reading the comments you have spoiled the episode for you :/
I dont think scary is the word!

Alex Lawther was absolutely amazing in this episode !
I hope he will become a great actor.
this kid is everything! blew my mind!
He already is a great actor. But yes I'm sure he's destined for great things.
Not to take too much credit away from him but the director is extremely competent and that helps out actors a lot. Every episode in this series the actors gets praised which means the director is the cause
sydney Leloup he's such an amazing actor already!
After watching more films that this guy is in, I can confirm that this guy is an AMAZING actor
i feel so bad for him to be playing this character:((( irl he is so adorable, innocent and shy...but i guess its the contrast that brings out the essence in this episode
FionaW don't you think Alex Lawther also jacks off in real life? Lol ok I stopped 😁
FionaW why do you feel bad for him? he auditioned for the role...
that's exactly why he was cast
He plays messed up characters like in his new show
Roger Ávila I’m guessing that he does. I mean nearly every person in the world does. Well I guess not everybody but you see my point.
This is actually my favorite episode of Black mirror. It really challenged the way you think and warps your reality. You sympathize with Kenny, but then towards the end you kind of rethink everything he's done from the beginning of the episode. SpunkyMcGoo ༼•͟ ͜ •༽ and one of the episodes that can happen in real life.
SpunkyMcGoo ༼•͟ ͜ •༽ is it scary im kinda scared to watch it
Liverpool 32 no its not scary. It's a really psychological episode.
i completely forgot about that truck bit. now i'm even more shook
What I didn’t get was the man who first met Kenny on a motorcycle. At the end of the episode I’m still not sure what he did. I think he cheated or something and they called him a monster
Alex Lawther, consider me fan. Phenomonal performance, one of the best in the series.
I flipped when I saw Bronn walk out of the hotel room
Tit0Matic without his sword
The hero of the blackwater.
This episode made me so shook. I'm so happy Alex is so sweet and adorable in real life. He truly is an amazing actor to pull that off, make all of us watchers crazy and have an episode of a tv show hit us so hard! The writers and everyone involved are brilliant. Scary, but brilliant.

My favourite type of drama is when you realise the guy you were rooting for is actually a terrible person.
I had the same feeling. As well with the "White Bear" episode.
I feel sorry for the pedophile. I guess I'm in minority, together with all scientists who know that it's a brain disorder and it's not their fault.
Jonida Sanço Oh don't get me wrong I don't feel sorry for him at all. Also you're not special for sympathizing with child abusers
no t cool I don't feel like I'm special, I think I'm in minority. I don't sympathize, but I empathize. "Shut Up & Dance" and "White Christmas" just bend you over Cosby you then you thank them...
The actor playing Kenny was SO authentic. Can't wait to see him in more roles.
3rd Gunman
yeah he was good
I know this is off topic but Alex Lawther is really good looking.
snatched You just have to disassociate him from Kenny
RIGHT?? God, I love him.
Yup but I cannot forget Kenny, and thus cannot like him
@@lemontriii3268 well then the actor did a great job if he made you feel that way
He is actually an incredible actor, he portrays such a variety of characters and way to different to his personality. You've earned a fan Alex.
The question is who is the worse monster? The millions of little simple monsters who can only barely help what they've become, or the few elite monsters who take extreme pleasure torturing the smaller monsters in the most grotesque ways.
Sidney Meyers Good question, well said 👏👏👏
The blackmailers were definitively the worst monsters. As horrible as Kenny's tendencies are, i also think that he didn't choose them, he was clearly conflicted with it, which is why he tried to kill himself at the end. I think the blackmailers were motivated by sadism, not justice.

Very true though while it is one of the most immoral things you can do, it seems it's also one of the most compulsory crimes out there.
Alex is so cute
Julian Aguilar that's what I was thinking
You can tell even Flynn finds him charming.
The actor being super cute is what makes the end of the episode so shocking, I guess. Great casting
Julian Aguilar But the Kidsssssss......
Can we all just remember the fact that Alex is an actor and not actually like Kenny, it's a film. I've seen so many reactions and they act like they hate the actor because of what film they played. like guys, come on.

This was the best episode (also Playtest and Men Against Fire and all of them really)
cant decide!!!! dont forget san junipero and hate in the nation and nosedivexDD

Dormin what is wrong with white bear exactly?
White bear was one of the greatest

It was Elliot.
Ding ding ding! Winner, winner, Chicken dinner!
I don't understand, who is Elliot?
Elliot is an angel. That was Mr. Robot
That's my name. I got confused for a second...
BiggCMan Me
how did the kid win the fight to the death is my question
Tim Wong The other guy was drunk and the kid had a metal gun to hit him with
YouLikeKrabbyPatties tru dat
He's already 22 years old.
He appointed Bronn as his champion, thats how
Keep in mind, we never ACTUALLY saw that the other guy was dead. who knows.
Alex is like a dottery old woman in a teenager's body. It is the most adorable thing ever.
OH SHIT AT THE START OF THE EPISODE WHEN HE WAS REALLY NICE TO THAT LITTLE GIRL NOW SEEMS FUCKED UP ON A HUNDRED LEVELS
That Guy I rewatched it and wanted to be sick
I watched it again and I felt sick like no thanks
Nicely noticed Yusuf.
0:56 when he said that, the title of the show finally made sense to me. The show is a darker version of our reality, that is only a second away. Therefore it's like looking in a black mirror. I feel really stupid right now.
I thought so too, but apparently it's just meant to be an unlit display like a phone or monitor.
Stuff like this has happened before
Supafly03. Oh wow, really? I also interpreted it as a mirror of reality and that the black part did have to do with a monitor like a tv since that's where we're most likely watching it from and that this is mirroring our own reality in a slightly more exaggerated way. Black Mirror.
it was just a prank bro!
Lmao
love it haha
the whole time watching this I was just feeling so sorry for your man Kenny, then even the mention of child porn and my mind just blew up, pretty scary
How refreshing to actually see a guy that is soft spoken. It’s relief since most of the guys I’ve known have been obnoxious and loud.
Man , this episode was so fugging RAW!!
Alex Lawther deserves an award for this. INSANE portrayal!
This is by far my favourite Black Mirror episode. It has the feels of _San Junipero,_ the blackmail element of _National Anthem,_ the suspense and the sick twisted sense of vigilante justic in _White Bear_ and _Hated in the Nation_ and it combines all those elements with a truly disturbing twist.
what i notice is that irl he is so innocent and pure. the characters that he plays in shows and movies are kinda messed up lol. idk, just after watching the black mirror episode and then seeing this is bamboozlin me
Lawther would make an excellent movie villain.
Oliver Watts Omg yes he would! But he has a large career ahead of him, so I hope he'll cover as many roles as possible.
THIS EPISODE WAS SO FUCKED UP AND CRAZY
This, The End of the F***ing, both world make me appreciate Alex as an actor so much, he now one of my favorites and I'll watch whatever he's in next.
boy's acting in serial was great, he has a talent for it.
Alex has been fantastic in all his roles so far. In Imitation game he was amazing, X+Y was decent and now the Netflix show as James. He’s actually so promising
Terrific actors.
Top talent.
T-t-t-today junior!
fantastic reference
This episode was the most chilling and disturbing episode.
Junipero, most heart warming
Playtest, most thrilling
Honestly, this episode freaked me out. Radiohead went really well with the end there.
plot twist : the hackers told them to do the interview or else 😅
The final episode of S4 has a throwback to this one.
The two lab mice are named "Kenny" and "Hector"
He's such a fucking incredible actor (the one who plays the main teenage character in the episode). What a stunningly powerful performance. As disturbing and bleak as this episode is, it's IMO the most memorable from the entire series and probably my favorite.
Oh my god I just remembered him giving that toy back to the little girl at the beginning of the episode
These guys are amazing actors. Alex Lawther was particularly impressive. Best performance so far in the series.
An extremely brilliant performance for very conflicted protagonists overall the twist and the results of their performances was amazing
This episode reflects the fact that there is no hero, there is no perfect human, and some people thing everyone should be perfect like the hacker in the episode who forces his victims to do way worse things than what they were originally doing just because he considers them a fare punishment
Alex Lawther talks and almost acts the same as his character.
I JUST WANT A QUIET LIFE There's a reason they chose him
it's not often you come across an actor like Alex. there are not many reserved or soft spoken actors like him nowadays. however I feel that he'll be able to get along with eddie redmayne quite well, both of them have similar temperament.
Hold on, Jeromes not Northern?
danieljamesmead Acting!
He's an amazing actor so underrated
he's so nervous all the time, you can see his hands shaking
Lawther's performance in this episode was superb
Kenny is the exact same in real life, minus the whole kids thing.
Aww he's adorbsss BUT KIDS, KENNYYYY
Alex DESERVES an Oscar, the best performance ive seen in years
1:08 Alex doesn't know where to put his hand
0:55 Wow he just made me realize the title _Black Mirror_ refers to a "black" mirroring of reality. Idk how I never got that until now.
Dino Spumoni for some reason I always imagined it to be like your phone screen, when it’s off it black and you can see you’re reflection in it, like a black mirror and black mirror is all about technology so I thought it kinda linked in some way
Alex your my favorite actor and that was a phenomenal performance! You never fail to amaze me!
"No one walks away from me"....Cersei Lannister
Lawther should have won an award for this. Best performance of the series.
This is the best episode in the whole franchise I swear this was a roller coaster ride
Out of all the episodes this is the one I always think about, so messed up. People say you have to watch this episode twice but after you find out the twist at the.... no thanks, once is enough for me. How tense is that phone call with his mother ? 😧
I swear Alex is the most adorable and innocent human being on earth
He(Alex Lawther) has not yet failed to impress me. He was phenomenal in Shut Up and Dance.
Aside from freddie highmore whom I really appreciate as an actor/celebrity. I find alex very adorable he's so soft spoken a bit of a shy type, he doesn't even have social media accounts. He has such an adorable personality, so unlike among the guys in Hollywood.
Good thing my webcams been broken for about 2 years now. And I've never tried to fix it.
He makes my heart melt
Alex Lawther did marvellously epic acting! amazing to see talented bloke like him..he should've gotten emmy or something!
Brilliant acting! Best episode for me.
Wait a minute, alex lawther have 21 years old?
thecuchikiller yep lol
He looks 16
24 now
Amazing episode. The blackmailers are still villains. Being a vigilante is no excuse when it comes to coercion to rob a bank (with trauma to innocent staff and customers) and coercion to murder. iconic duo
My 2 favorite actors! God I loved that episode.
I kinda saw it coming in this episode. Like in White Bear in figured out they weren't exactly the victims that sick game made them appear. I actually guessed it.
The voice and the accent 💖💖💖💖 My favorite actor
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Alex' awesomness and handsomeness? Like... OMG!!!!!!!!!!! *having a fangirl attack*
That moment when Kenny had to fight the other guy and he asked Kenny “How old were they?”
My brain literally caught on fire.
Superb acting by both actors.
One of my fav young actors.
It brought chillings to soul.
I wanna hug Alex.
Incredible actors
La forma de hablar de Alex me encanta, le hace el amor lentamente a tu oído.
Alex was so frickin good in this episode
my fave episode of black mirror, its so realistic and plausible, which makes it more horrifying
My 11 year old cousin wanna meet Alex Lawther after he saw him in the Old Boys.
If there was a time travel movie where Jerome Flyn meets his younger self Alex looks like he could play him
This was the only black mirror episode where I actually sat back and yelled “holy fuck!”
They did a fabulous job!!!
Best episode ever.
i love alex. that’s it. i just love him.
Shit was crazy great actors
Lmao Alex is literally mee tho I like wouldn’t even kno how to describe It tbh
