Thank you kindly! Not gonna lie, I was concerned while shooting it that most people would just find it boring. The response so far has been positive though so more like it may pop up in the future 👍🏻
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Nice one 👍 You can see it kicking hard 😬 Like my 1909 Mauser . All fun but at the end of the day . Cheers mate . 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇦🇺🇦🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸🇦🇺🇦🇺✊
Thx for the vid. I really enjoy seeing a rifle from the '60-'70s. Had a shooting buddy yrs ago who loaded some 30-06 9,7gram to the max. It was really no fun. Snappy and punchy. And not very accurate. Always wondered if the .30 cal doesn't have a sweet spot around the ".308-30-06 -ish" powder charges. Are the scope mounts solid? Shoulder firmly to the stock - seemed the first shots were a little "loose" to the shoulder. Just questions from a nosey across the pond Good vid 👍
Scope mounts are solid, to tell you the truth I was a bit scared of this gun after test shooting it a few weeks ago so that may be what you were picking up on. The first shots this thing had fed into it in 15 plus years were too hot, darn near broke my shoulder (wish I were exaggerating, my brother had the same horrid experience with that ammo) so I was really having to force myself to really shoulder it. Thing kicks like a mule, but with more standard ammo (such as seen in this video) it doesn’t really set in as being painful until several shots have been fired. Thanks for watching and questions are always welcome!
Morning Thomas, backs up what I was told years ago, never shoot full bore in a t shirt. Ole ammo can be a problem, depending on the mix used for the proppelant. But as long as you are in the hit zone, that's the important bit. what ammo do you need for ElK?
Really I just need to get a few boxes of different stuff and see what it likes, but Hornady hollowpoints are usually a safe bet 👍🏻 probably gonna get a box and fine tune it to that
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry every rifle is different but my 670 in .30-06 definitely prefers flat base bullets over boatails. It also likes lighter bullets. Just something I learned about mine. Perhaps your barrel might prefer the same even though it's a .300
Planning on running Hornady ELD-X Precision Hunter 200gr, gotta get a couple boxes and fine tune my optic to where it’s hitting provided it performs well 👍🏻
Very nice, and grandpa’s makes it priceless! 👍🏽😊❤️🇺🇸
Yes indeed! This thing won’t be going anywhere, if I had to sell my whole collection I’d still keep this.
Nice rifle! My father-in-law gifted me his dad's 670 in .30-06. I put a blued Weaver 6x on top and the nostalgia factor is off the charts for me.
Nice Vid Thomas . Satisfying to watch .

My Winchester 670 is in 30-06.
7:42 Damn, the scope was so close to hitting you:)
Yeah it got uncomfortably close lol, this is why getting complacent and thinking “I shoot all the time, I know what I’m doing” can be dangerous!

@andrewmohs4734 I’ll bear that in mind, thanks for the tip 👍🏻
Nice rifle. What load are you running for elk. Ive always ran a 7mmRM with Hornady Fusion 175gr soft point

@GreatNorthwestWeaponry if you can get your hands on some 180 grain accubond give that a try too.
@blaketucker9154 will do 👍🏻
🙏👍👌🫡❤️
Is this the Winchester rifle that looks like a Remington 700?
I would say so, I always have to check the stamp when grabbing one or the other from my safe to make sure I grabbed the right one
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry I remember seeing one in 30.06 at a Mom & Pop gun store back in the early 90's. Very nice
