- I enjoyed spending some time playing with Cortana. Here's a compilation of some of the questions she can answer.
She has multiple answers to some questions so go ahead and try them yourself you might get different answers.

I do agree that she does sound somewhat different.
It does on windows 10. I think the sound got distorted with the way he's recording.
It is the same voice actor actually and sounds a lot better but this guy had a very echoy room and lower quality recording.

The regional settings are spread across many setting pages. Make sure to set US on every single setting that has to do with language or region like keyboard for example

Ninja Gros Lion The story was good, but it fell flat on gameplay and multiplayer, not to mention poor customization and the fact that it was missing several existing features. 343 focuses on one thing then ignores everything else and that isn't a good way to make a Halo game.

I was stopping this video and making my iPod try to answer these questions. Didn't do too well!
Now I regret getting the iPhone.........yet, if only it could be possible to replace Siri with Cortana, then that would be a surprise.

I got a free one just to try it out. I can't stand the iPhone. Getting a Windows or Android (again) next month. Can't decide if it's worth getting the Windows phone yet or I should wait until it's more refined.
Rumour has it that Cortana will be made available on Android & Apple software as a download one day......Microsoft are really trying to shake off their 'rigid' image. We will see Office available in Dropbox soon, Microsoft Band was built to be compatible with Android and Apple, Onedrive is in Android and Apples App stores... 'Ecosystems' are user friendly but MS realise that people already have, and will continue to have, multiple devices on multiple platforms for different needs, so are trying to reach more customers by being open.

Better is often an opinion based on preference. I like Bing more, as it gives me reliable results (both do), and has beautiful photos on the homepage. Also, I'm pretty sensitive to all-white screens, so Google just bothers me physically. Also, I have no opinion on the systems, as I haven't played on either yet. Have better things to spend hundreds of dollars on right now.

The halo references are amazing.
If she was a bit faster and didn't require an internet connection for most tasks, and maybe if she didn't constantly open a browser search instead of giving you an answer and if she could actually be properly integrated into apps with commands she could actually be useful.
Right now she's mostly a gimmick.

They are synthesized.
Biz 08 no i dont think theyre synthesized, it sounds like the person who actually voices cortana in the halo games, either they are really good at matching voices, or they had a sample or her voice and used it to make other sentences
Maybe some specific sentences are just plain recorded voice. But most of it is synthetic.
