All babies are different. My 4 children all had different sleep patterns. It's generally not 12hrs for babies due to them waking for a feed and Diaper change. Their sleep time is usually all over the place. One of my boys woke every 2hrs, but I got them all into a pattern/routine, but it knocked the hell out of my routine to achieve it. I was a 24/7 hands on dad, I did EVERYTHING, I fed them around the clock, changed their Diapers, relieved them when they were in pain, soothed them to sleep all hours of the day and night, I even sat by their bed constantly when they were in Hospital. I was never a part time parent like some fathers or mothers. 100% dedication and care.

The average baby wakes up about every four hours to eat when they are first born (parents would tell us sleep schedule when they would first start and it would go back to birth) then maybe every six depending on the child. Children sleep in spurts and wake up to eat. That's why new mothers with no help get crazy sometimes. They get sleep deprived from caring for the baby. I am a mother too and also know first hand. I think Rob's wife just lets him sleep.
