actually, it's usually the opposite. Go-Pros have a fisheye lens, which can exaggerate things quite a bit. If you watch people doing parkour and what-not, they look like they are flipping over buildings that are 100 stories tall. The act still takes balls of steel, regardless.

@@shanewilson9924 It's not as crazy as it seems. They start small and work their way up to the 70 and 90 meter jumps. The landing hill is angled so you are never more than 30 feet off the ground, which is plenty, but you follow the hill pretty close as you descend, once the physics and angles come int oplay it's actually a lot less dangerous than it seems.
The speed is the real problem, you screw up on the down track, and you can get really fucked up, but a fall once you jump doesn't usually end up in serious injury. Men's downhill , which is faster, has equal descents with odd angles, ice, and 130kmh speeds, wearing a skin suite and zero give is far more dangerous. And the stats show it.
These jumpers jump from the time they are little kids, and do baby hops , work their skill and confidence up. In fact, the real danger is anorexia it's the scourge of the sport as jumpers try to gain strong legs, and light upper bodies, totally un natural, but every ounce counts when your trying to fly..

Objects close to the lens appear abnormally large relative to more distant objects, and distant objects appear abnormally small and hence farther away - distances are extended.”
Wide angle lenses (the type go pros and other action cameras use) distort the image, causing close objects (the ramp) to look larger and far away objects (the landing area) to look smaller. This causes the overall ramp to look much larger and steeper than it is in reality. There are even videos on how to make a trail, ramp, or jump look steeper and larger than it is for people who ride mountain bikes and other action sports.

1 hour to think about the many ways I could get hurt
20 minutes going down while sitting.
    20 minutes stopping to cry
20 minutes going down but still stopping and seating and crying.
1 minute going down with muscles terribly tense and hoping for the best.
19 minutes stuck to the tree that breaks my fall and then I climb back up to the top to start all over again.
Been skiing this way for years!

People in the comment section were really hyping this up...but that was honestly pretty tame, the slide down was scarier than the jump itself.

This is the kind of thing that needs absolute perfection. A slight change in the position could make all the difference between life and death.

No matter the climate, at that height & elevation I'd be scared shitless. Kudos to that person.

You think that until you fall and hit nothing but sod and hardwood.

@Taistelu_pelto Im not familiar to the sport, so you might be correct... but I really think, if you rolled in a fall there, it would be your end.
