- This is the first episode of a video series on 'How to apply to UK Universities from Sri Lanka'. In the first episode, I talk about my PhD journey from Bachelors in Sri Lanka to Masters in the University of Nottingham, UK and finally securing a full scholarship to pursue my PhD at the same university.

What will be the criteria if I want to apply for a PHD in any other country in Europe. For example Netherlands?
Criteria will be almost the same machan. Next video will explain this as well. So even if you want to apply for another EU country other than UK, you can use the same sources I will be presenting in the next video. Mama eka ikmanata upload karannan machan! You can always write to the university admissions team to find out. I am not aware of any particular websites for this. Sorry.
Attach your academic CV (including the modules you have completed) in the email. The university will consider the eligibility and reply.

If you plan to apply for a Masters by research program, you must show interest in the research component, this may be by showcasing your experience in previous research projects, publishing your undergraduate work in conferences, or showing genuine interest in the research topic you want to pursue. (along with good academic record, at least 2:2)
If GPA is 2.0(BSc in natural science) is possible to get student visa in UK
If you have a second lower, you can still apply and get an offer for a masters. If you have industry experience it will help in the decision.

Hi Bovinya, Yes you can apply for a UK Masters scholarship with a 3 year degree. I would advice you to work towards a first class to increase your chances! Cost of the programs differ from the field of study and also the university. For international students it varies from 15,000-24,000 pounds per year.

Aiya I'm done my HND and currently I'm doing my MBA .can I know wether I can apply for phd or not ?
I completed both qualification through Canterbury chest church uni UK
Yours is a unique case since you haven't completed a bachelor degree. Once you complete your MBA, you will be able to apply for a DBA which is a Doctoral degree. But I'm not sure about a PhD! Sorry

Can we do part time masters for 2 years in UK ?
According to my knowledge international students aren't allowed to study part-time in the UK (tier 4 visa) unless you have the new graduate visa which allows you to work/study part time. However, you can't apply to graduate visa from Sri Lanka.

With 3.2 gpa value for physics special degree are there any chance to get a scolarship???
Nothing is impossible. What you can do is, get some good publications and gain some research experience in Sri Lanka. If you have good publications, and show potential in research, you will have chances to secure a scholarship. Once you have published and experience (1 or 2 years), get in touch with potential supervisors.

Masters scholarships වලට apply කරන්න හිතාගෙන ඉන්නවනං second upper or first class එකක් ගන්න try කරන්න. ඊට අමතරව undergrad dissertation එක publish කරගන්න බලන්න (conference paper or journal paper). මේ දෙකම තියෙනවනං most probably scholarship එකක් ගන්න පුලුවන්. එහෙම නැත්නං අවුරුදු කිපයක් work කරල scholarship apply කරන්න

May I know whether you are a fresh graduate or are you working already?
I am waiting for facing mn last semester exam in university of ruhuna. My GPA is about 3.5 now. Combination is Computer science+Physics+Mathes
If you are planning for a PhD with a 3 year general degree, I would recommend you to join the university as a demonstrator/teaching assistant/research assistant and work for 1-2 years. During that time you can get your FYP published (conference paper/journal paper) and do IELTS or TOFEL. If you are applying for USA you will have to do GRE too. Once you get these qualifications you will be able to apply for a masters program in USA/UK.
@@oldfm1818 3.5 GPA will be sufficient even for a PhD however, since you only have a 3 year degree, best option will be to do a masters and then continue your research to a PhD later. You can even write directly to a supervisor/professor from a university and show your interest to pursue a PhD. Then he might even suggest you to follow an integrated PhD where you will be completing a masters program along the way.

UK ආවම neurosurgery station එකක් select කරගන්න පුලුවං. එහෙම නැත්නං training program එකකට apply කරල MD part 1/2 කරන්න පුලුවං
