What a guitar tunning bro
I've found this, while training for my final exam, to graduet from ,, music school '' ( as we call it in Poland, 6 years of studying, 10-12 hours a week + normal school ). Back then I was so angry, one of my 3 exam performans included Chopin Etude op.10 no.3 - classic one. I had a problem with one switch, like my left hand intentionally didn't want to sit properly on griffin. Again&again.
I watched this, couple of times, and before going to sleep, I grabed the guitar, and just played, without thought, without presure, and it went perfectly. In the day of exam, when I came before the comission, this requiem was playing in my head. I scoored the best, A+ ( or 6 for our polish type of meauserments ). This was 9 years ago, and I'm still coming back, to hear the song, that gave me power. Thank You so much!

I'm surprised to see you play with your thumb so often (left hand). I was always taught that this is improper guitar technique.
Also, what mic setup do you use and daw/pre amp etc. You should make a website that tells everyone this basic information about you! I bet you get asked a lot!
Haha, well I would agree with you, because there's no doubt this is beautiful and amazing. But the truth is, some things are just better to do than others, and technique serves a purpose. Playing a D/F# chord by using your thumb on the F# is a mistake in typical guitar. It doesn't prepare you for more difficult chords that you'll use later, and it is just very limiting as far as finger position.
But that's with typical guitar, what this guy does is in a class of its own, it just makes me very curious what made him to decide to do that and if he's had classical training (because he's just as good sounding as pro classical guitarists!)

Using your left hand thumb is pretty common - it's more common on electric/acoustic I guess but it's definitely not bad technique. Anything that makes music like this is a good thing.
You get more freedom with other fingers by using thumb for some notes which can be quite handy :)

when it gets into what can be called the refrain of the song; the guitar causes a low hollow note that seems to resonate with the emptiness of the souls of those subject of the movie. The notes are deep, melancholy, mysterious and yet all too familiar in the sense of depth and loss. A memoir of the sufferings of mankind... all placed into a single note of a guitar string. The echoing metallic sound just blew my mind. Amazing work.
