What pains me is neither the Maharashtra government nor the Indian government has done anything to preserve and maintain these forts. Ours and future generations are orphaned from the history of our of forefathers. What a tragedy!
They have given more importance to Taj Mahal and mougal history.. Feel sorry and anger at the same time.

Forts can be built on top of and inside the mountain. With straight walls like these you didn't need additional man made fort walls for centuries until guns were available in abundance in India.

This place has its own history and was used by Empire.More the forts, stronger it is, was considered better as it was not easy for the enemy to capture it. But rather it was easy for the people that lived on it to defeat the enemy. The forts in Mahrashtra are main the ones that were used to fight against the enemy. The dodapGad Fort must have been used lastly by the Marathas for defending themselves. There are many forts in Maharashtra(Sahyadri Montain range) which are Wonders In World. Such beautiful places should be restored not just for tourism but also get the whole nation educated on our glorious past. Govt of India & Maharashtra Govt should jointly bring up a restoration project for all forts across Maharashtra and set an example for other states to start the same.

It’s a shame that the state’s tourism department is not promoting these sites. Thanks for posting.
If you look at it this way you can also say that by doing that it stops much people/tourists to come thereby maintaining the place's pristine state...and Maharashtra state treasury is quite rich amongst state treasuries in all of india anyway .. the state tourism has done quite well in terms of generating wealth and maybe the higher ups (in the govt)don't want the saturation of these sites to modern eyes and actions

Anirudha, congratulations. You both are doing wonderful job. If you happen to show this video to the Tourism Minister of Maharashtra and India, it would do wonders. The government will need to develop and promote the route to the fort, the fort , surrounding infrastructure and take the villagers of both the neighbouring villages into confidence, to work in the interest of safeguarding our nation's national heritages. This way, just to visit this fort, 3000-5000 people will be employed, directly and indirectly. What a shame that Indian heritages are left derelict and orphan.
