Thank you for your support Evan, I’ve been enjoying this summer break with friends and family but I have been recording clips every now and then. Hopefully it won’t be too long before I upload another video. I really appreciate people like you :D
Hey can you do an experiment ? My experiment is take some workers from an vplony and transfer them to other queen which do not have workers what will they do and use the same breed please
Wow dude your channels grow so much!! Mad props my friend. I know it's been a long time since I followed youtube or been into ant keeping (life makes life changing turns sometimes 🙄) but happy to see there's a lot to catch up on.
Thank you, and it has been a while! Hope you’ve been doing well out there, i’ve taken noticed i’ve taken a break too since quarantine. Life happens, but I’ll for sure still be keeping ants throughout it all!
My daily ant routine is easy because I only have one active colony, but I am stressing alot because I have 10 queens whilst I am not prepared for this many queens at once. In total my ant daily routine is between 5 minutes to 15 minutes because I always seem to drift off watching them whilst cleaning, I love my camps.
ahh i remember when i used to have a few queens. I wanted to have a lot one day, and i think i regret it sometimes because it takes a while to feed them all. Gotta love watching ants!
I've never kept Messor, but its always best to keep them in the dark. Limit checking on the queen every week or better yet, every month. If its a small colony, only check on them when you feed them, which would be every week or every 3-4 days.
Super worm larvae need to be separated in order to pupate. I just take like 10 and separate them from the rest. It will take a week or so before they pupate but after they notice there is no food they will turn into a C shape and get ready to pupate.
@@MinigunL5 yeah with mealworms. But super worms won’t pupate unless they are completely alone because they know they will get eaten. I used little deli cups when I break them.
@@EnderAnts bro I actually thought you knew. Then I heard you were waiting for them to breed😂. I started thinking “He does know that they have to be kept in isolation with no food or water before they pupate right?”😂
Instead of parchment paper use tin foil. I cut larger squares which I them fold over a few times (4 or 5) so then end up being stronger strips. I can use long strips 3-4 inches that can be put into test tubes (when still small colonies not big enough for nests/homeworlds). Then, much like you do with you parchment paper, I have small, 1/2 inch strips that I have end folded over to hold with tweezers. I even clean the foil and use them over and over. Soaking the strips in water before cleaning will remove most of the honey all by itself.
@@EnderAnts yeah I kinda do the same thing but I use tin foil for sweets and I feed my colonies with enough workers a small piece of protein along with the sweets every time so they have extra stored. Then I just watch them eat👍
Your channel in my opinion is to the Same level as ants Canada and we're have you been I've been watching your videos for years and I've really missed you uploading and btw can you do a small series about ant facts and how your colony's have grown I really don't care how your videos are edited I just care that there are videos atleast 1 once a month or 1 per 2 months hope you see this your channel is one of the only reasons I'm making videos
Thank you, somehow 1 month turned into 2, and then 3, and then more. Time flew by and it’s coming close to a year since I last uploaded so I have to force myself to finish editing the ones I have. I literally just disappeared without warning, will have to explain more in-depth in the next youtube video in the comments. I’m glad I inspired you, and will incorporate those ideas you gave in future videos. Thank you for still being here! :D
I just found out that two pheidole colonies coexist in my planting pot. One species is red with black gaster while other species is a tiny colony of completely black pheidoles. At first, I thought the black ones were melanistic but later by seeing both types having different behaviour, I think they are two different species.
@@EnderAnts As it's a planting pot filled with soil and a few small plants, it's impossible to do anything. Digging will scare the ants and they will flee away with brood and queens. But they stay as a one colony though. The red and black pheidoles also touch each other just like they do with their own colony members. The black ones also pop out from anywhere which shows that they even use the same tunnels.
Great video! I also enjoy watching my ants :) My ant care routine is an 15-30 minutes taking care of my ants and and another half an hour taking care of my mealworms. Right now I don't have many colonies (because most are hibernating) so it doesn't take to long. Sometimes I procrastinated by watching my ants to. I got to do some homework and instead I start watching my ants 😅
Been busy spending the summer break with friends after quarantine. Somehow 1 month extended to over 7 😓😓Hopefully will get back in the groove of editing as I have a couple vids recorded just never got to finishing editing them.
Been so long since I last uploaded, time really flew by when I didn’t intend it to so I’m going to force myself to finish editing these videos I’ve had recorded by the end of this month! Wish me luck :D
Do you have experience with taking care of a queen messor structor ant colony? I know it is best to not move the queen by force. But just asking. Since this will be my first any colony. I already have 3 colony pieces ready. I’ll install them all slowly once the colony grows. 1.) a L outworld 2.) a L ant cave 3.) and an XL ant nest
Thank you, I currently have one video finished but also editing another so that there will be a 1 week scheduled upload after it. While those ones are being uploaded, I’ll be working on another video :D
Hey I want to ask a question and the question is that can I keep some soil in the test tube of the queen ant or should I keep only the queen inside the test tube
It takes me about 2 hours if I do it right, I have a dumb amount of colonies of different species and sizes all with different care but if I want to do the bare minimum it takes me 1 hour or a tad over an hour
wow now that is a long routine. When i have a lot more colonies, I’d want to have a maximum of 10 minutes. Not sure if that will be possible though lol
I have a large colony of messor barbarus and am building a vivarium is there any predators you can think of that I could put in to create an ecosystem and control the population
thanks this video helps me alot im looking at getting Aphaenogaster longiceps in 2 - 4 months since ants arent cheap and the funnel ants only have nuptial flights to late in the year for me
Pro tip Get some fine mesh and make some holes on the boxes. Stick on the mesh. Easy ventilated lid. My antcare routine consists mainly of stumbling around, wasting time and watching ants. Also I think the camera was not as good as the other videos in this one, maybe my resolution or device 😬
I've tested out mesh lids for a few of my containers, will have to see if I do it for the rest of them. Will definitely out-do myself in a future vid, really excited to see how that one turns out 🤫
Welcome to the colony! 😎 I’m not exactly sure, it depends on your climate because if youre in a tropical country then they could fly year round. As long as the weather is at least 70F and the wind speed is below 10mph, then I’m sure queen ants are flying. If its warm at night, and there’s no wind, look around lights and you might find a queen!
You could try using a toothpick for smaller drops, or placing small rocks/sand in it to prevent the workers from drowning. I have had that problem with my smaller ants too.
The water should be held at the top so it doesnt spill out. The workers drink it by going inside and looking upward. But if they dont work, im sorry to hear 😔 They save me a lot of time and last a while.
No, I'm on summer break now and have been hanging out with friends I haven't seen for a year. Since I was in quarantine I wasn't allowed to go out until recently, so I want to do that first before going back to making vids
Several months ago: ender ants is on a summer holiday Some months later: summer is about to end ! There's maybe another video coming ! Today: GOD IT'S ALMOST THE END OF SEPTEMBER WHY ARE THERE NO VIDEOSSSSS a g o n y
70% finished editing current video 🤫 I appreciate you guys coming back to these vids and commenting, it really does motivate me to get back to editing my vids I recorded a long time ago
Not sure, but most likely not. The earliest ants fly is in February, and those are Winter ants (Prenolepis) You should see some this month if its warm enough :D
Been busy with life, but I’m still active on Instagram and responding to comments here whenever I get the chance :D good news tho, vids coming extra soon !
I’ve had a Pheidole Dentata colony for half a year now. I’m new to antkeeping, but I do know it’s not normal that they only have 20 workers after all that time. Any advice?
You can try giving them protein every other day. Like a small spider or cricket leg. Feeding them as much as they can eat will make them grow quicker. Heat can also help, using a heat cable on one side of their nest/test tube.

Hey I want to ask a question and the question is that can I keep some soil in the test tube of the queen ant or should I keep only the queen inside the test tube
what european ant shop would you suggest buying from? (apart from ant-shack)
Where do you get these containers you keep your ants in from?
It takes me about 2 hours if I do it right, I have a dumb amount of colonies of different species and sizes all with different care but if I want to do the bare minimum it takes me 1 hour or a tad over an hour
wow now that is a long routine. When i have a lot more colonies, I’d want to have a maximum of 10 minutes. Not sure if that will be possible though lol
Have you ever looked at Ant Plants? Would make an amazing set up
When I make more ant tanks I plan for each one to be completely different. All i have to wait on is the colonies to grow.
Can the ants breathe when the container is closed?
Yes :D
Well I have another question what can I put in my terrarium to prevent the ants to escape other than fluon
Im kinda thinking on starting one but I’m not use
What containers do you use for your setups?
I joined the discord
Your voice changed a lot from your older videos!
aha yup yup!
How exactly do you get those containers
So u buy the cubes at Tar Heel?
Where I can get so containers?
0:58
I have a large colony of messor barbarus and am building a vivarium is there any predators you can think of that I could put in to create an ecosystem and control the population
I would advise you not to use tap water to refill the feeders unless it is filtered. Great video!
Thank you :D
Where do you get your containers?
how can I be two days late to this
You made it, and thats what counts! :D
thanks this video helps me alot im looking at getting Aphaenogaster longiceps in 2 - 4 months since ants arent cheap and the funnel ants only have nuptial flights to late in the year for me
Glad i could help, you will find one once the time comes around. Never give up!
@@EnderAnts thanks you just made my day!
Pro tip
Get some fine mesh and make some holes on the boxes.
Will definitely out-do myself in a future vid, really excited to see how that one turns out 🤫
Can you link the cubes and tubes you use?
Have you ever catched a prenipis imparis
No, but they are cool ants in my opinion 😎
I have a small colony with I think about seven workers with tons of brood
Do you think grout would be ok to use? To make a nest like this?
Maybe, ive never made a grout nest before so I can’t say for sure
When is nuptial flight in south east asia? Just subscribed!
I Have found a queen ant! Shes currently in a testube no eggs yet!
Can you please make a new ant video soon 🥺🥺
I’ve made it a goal to finish editing the recorded ones by the end of this month. Time flew by when I didn’t intend it to 😓😓
Where do you get the containers you use for your ants?
I have ones like his that are from dollar rama
Always when I will give them honey they will fal in the honey and die so that’s why I placed them back in the wild
You could try using a toothpick for smaller drops, or placing small rocks/sand in it to prevent the workers from drowning. I have had that problem with my smaller ants too.
Haha mr ant from discord
lol
YUUUUUSSSS EXTREME ANTS! Do you have an ant care routine?
@@EnderAnts sadly nope since I only own a queen but it's probably once a month open wardrobe check repeat
patience is key, always remember that 😉
These water containers don't work for me. There is no water going down the tube and no water drops on the base :/
The water should be held at the top so it doesnt spill out. The workers drink it by going inside and looking upward. But if they dont work, im sorry to hear 😔 They save me a lot of time and last a while.
Hello big fan
Thank you Volcano, you have my appreciation!! 💜
Why are all your ant colony's so small?
i dont feed them too much, but ive been recently feeding them isopods since i im using them as feeders now
Hey ender, it’s been 5 months since you posted your last vid, why don’t you post anymore? Does it have to to something with school or something?
No, I'm on summer break now and have been hanging out with friends I haven't seen for a year. Since I was in quarantine I wasn't allowed to go out until recently, so I want to do that first before going back to making vids
@@EnderAnts oh ok no problem!
Several months ago: ender ants is on a summer holiday
Some months later: summer is about to end ! There's maybe another video coming !
Today: GOD IT'S ALMOST THE END OF SEPTEMBER WHY ARE THERE NO VIDEOSSSSS
a g o n y
70% finished editing current video 🤫 I appreciate you guys coming back to these vids and commenting, it really does motivate me to get back to editing my vids I recorded a long time ago
I got my notification bell all up and ready ender ants
Your vedios is so cool
Thank you Kyle, i appreciate you tons 💜
Love your content Ender! What equipment do you use to get your macro shots?
Thank you! I use a Canon 200D and extension tubes for macro.
@@EnderAnts Nice! I've thought about getting extension tubes and it looks like you've just made up my mind for me. Thanks!
I have a queen but no workers for over 7 MONTHS HELP ME
The queen might be infertile, but give her honey/a dead bug and see if she lays eggs in a few weeks
Is it possible to catch queens in southern Virginia mid winter?
Not sure, but most likely not. The earliest ants fly is in February, and those are Winter ants (Prenolepis) You should see some this month if its warm enough :D
@@EnderAnts it is now early spring, maybe there will be flights?
maybe, only one way to find out 😉
More vids pls
I am waiting for so long
Going to try and make time for it this weekend. It’s been way too long since I last uploaded, thank you for still being here 🙏
@@EnderAnts It's been 9 months and still no vid
Where did you go?
Been busy with life, but I’m still active on Instagram and responding to comments here whenever I get the chance :D good news tho, vids coming extra soon !
oo new profile
Yes yes!
Where’s the next vid
Going to force myself to finish editing and uploading a few vids by the end of this month. It’s time for a return.
Why an olive oil barrier? Is fluon not good for ants?
Fluon should be better than olive oil, I just use olive oil because its cheaper, and natural
@@EnderAnts Thank you for the prompt response. Cheers!
Ayy you catched some Solenopsis Geminata?
i think i caught one in the beginning of June, but she died before reaching the founding stage ☹️
@@EnderAnts well here in philippines they nuptial flight everynight and somtimes not
and they are breaking the calendar nuptial flight Lol
you are lucky to have a lot of cool ant species out there!
@@EnderAnts yeah but most of them are small
How many time do u water and how do u give water if u dont have water tube on the side
I give water every 2-3 weeks and re-fill their feeders.
