Well presented video :) Previously I raised one by 400 mm (2 blocks) but took the easy way out as it was just for storage (no mowers etc) abd had a threshold to step over. Floor to top apex of the shed is 2.22m with the shed on the blocks, so you can see how short these sheds are without giving it more height. I think the planning regs are 2.5m to the eaves and 3m to apex.
How did you deal with the condensation, maybe should have put air bricks in the base blocks. Also did you get much leakage round the base from rain. I've had 2 of these sheds and had condensation and leakage around the base on both.
Great video. You have great patience. Your base must have come near the purchase price of the shed. Did you seal the apex of the roof? The shallow angle would make me beleive that wind could blow rain in there. Also, are you getting much condensation? I am in the middle of building the bigger yardmaster 10ft x 17ft which doesnt require the extra height but as I'm going to store a lot of stuff in it I dont want the possibility of damp ingress. I will also put electric ( and maybe water!) as I would like a small work area in it.
Thanks Trevor, Base was simply a jumbo bag of sand, few bags of cement and about 20 additional patio slabs to add to the ones from the original shed. I didn`t seal the roof apex and have not found any ingress of rain anywhere around the shed, but I`m not storing sensitive stuff in it. I`m surprised that you have the headroom that you need. I wanted to put some 2 mtre high shelving in mine (and walk around) and now I`m very happy with it. 👍
Yes, I bolted a sheet of stainless steel to the bottom of each door and attached 15mm box section aluminium to strengthen the area where they come together. I also added the same size box section along the bottom of each door to glide within the threshold channels. The threshold strip is from the original pack but ground off of the fixing plate and screwed into the floor. Thanks
Great video, thanks for going into detail. Im looking to get 2 x yardmaster 10ft x 17ft sheds and have them side by side. I have a large grass area that needs to be prepared as I will be storing 2 cars and motorbike/ride on mower so need it to be solid. How has it been in the wind and did you cement the breeze blocks to the slabs or how did you secure them? Thanks
Thanks for your comment. Yes the breeze blocks were cemented onto the slabs and with the four corners and two midway points the blocks were laid flat and the shed screwed into the blocks in each corner using the Yardmaster fixing and I also bolted it down in the two midway points. Absolutely no problem in the strong wind that we had around here. Good Luck.
How are these sheds with the wind? I hear thay can be abit rattlely. Do you get water build up on the concrete block or doese the shed provide enough overhang to stop that fom happening?
I`ve had no trouble with the high winds we get around here. but don`t leave the roof off for any period of time when you assemble it.(as you can see in the video). There is no rattling of the panels as they are well screwed down. The base slabs have a slight incline from front to rear, which takes any water off to the ground at the back of the shed.
That has to leak at the join om top of blocks. Plus, one skin of block around the base has to carry damp . Blocks soak up water. It's why we put in cavity in houses. And you used aerate blocks. Even worse for soaking up water. Good job on raising it however I know it'll definitely be damp at the base or worse, let water iron top of them blocks.
@MadLFC No armchair builder I'd say. I agree! You build sheds not to be damp or leak. If I have to explain why to you then your as daft as I thought. Even thou it's a shed, you don't want any sort of damp in there at all.

Thanks Barry, I`ve been using the shed for a couple of years now and have not had any condensation problems. It is fairly well aired at the junction of roof/walls so perhaps that helps. I`m sure it will go well. Thanks again
Hi putting the shed on blocks is a stroke of genius. I have this shed on order coming in the next few weeks. Any chance I could have the dimensions of the blocks from the outside, so I could prep the blockwork, so it's ready for the shed. Thanks
I would recommend that you check your shed dimensions before starting the prep work, as I`d hate to give you my dimensions and then you find your shed will not fit onto the blocks. Perhaps build the bottom run and chalk the base in situ as I did in the video. but for MY shed the outside block sizes are 287cm(w) x 389cm (l). don`t forget to leave 120cm for door. Good luck.
@@bristolbadger8305 Well started my build today the only thing I've done different to you is added a row of bricks on top of the blocks for a little more height. Just wondered if you sealed the shed once you plonked it on top of the block to stop water running in. I'm half tempted to muck it on or just use trusty old silicone.
@@Ryan-kg2fv I didn`t seal the shed with anything, just bolted it down into the blocks in six places. Shouldn`t get much water ingress as the roof sends most water off to the sides. but a seal could be a good idea. good luck
Does your shed leak from the roo onto the floor then inside from the blocks... I've done same thing same shed an size, mine has water falling off the roof on the side an into through the blocks...
I`ve not had any water getting into the shed, there is only a small border of patio stones beyond the shed base so I don`t get any build up of rain water around the base.
The ground preparation took a couple of days and the assembly another couple of days, but it could be done in a day. I had help lifting the unit onto the blocks and the roof assembly, but most of it I done alone. Don`t leave it with the roof off for too long as it can get caught in the wind. Thanks for your question.
Very well thought out and useful video. Found this interesting how your raised the shed. Have you had any problems of water ingress at the bottom and along shed to breeze blocks surface?
Thank you Koysii, I`ve had no problems with water ingress around the blocks. The base is slightly higher than the surrounding lawn so it will not `flood` onto the base slabs.
@@bristolbadger8305 that's great I'm hoping to get a metal shed myself soon. And when weather permits just been rain rain rain and more rain all month.
In shed description it says assembly 4-6 hours estimated so going by your video it takes a lot longer than that then? (even without the problems & making it higher) Great video by the way.
It possibly can be done in 4-6 hours, if your base is prepared and you are happy where each piece needs to be assembled. I spent some time checking the pieces with the instructions. Thanks
May I ask what height you are? I'm thinking of getting one of these sheds and hoping I can get away with not raising the height as I am only 5ft 7" anyway
The standard height from threshold strip to top of door opening is approximately 61" (5ft 1"). mounting it on blocks has given me an opening height of approximately 70" (5ft 10")
I'm with you on roof height.. the world is made for guys 5' 9" or 10".. from lawn mowers to snow blowers.. if your 6'2"... your are forced to be stooped over.. it sucks...

@@bristolbadger8305 That is very helpfull thanks very much. I take it the blocks laying flat are exactly in the middle of the sides?
@@Ryan-kg2fv yes, each corner and in the middle of each longer side (6 positions total)
Hmmm that's strange I get water off the roof on to floor then into the side of my shed... strange...
I have a metal base which I may have to use. An put some plywood on top ....
How many days take to install it completely. Would you tell me please? And how many people I will need to do this .Thank you.
The ground preparation took a couple of days and the assembly another couple of days, but it could be done in a day. I had help lifting the unit onto the blocks and the roof assembly, but most of it I done alone. Don`t leave it with the roof off for too long as it can get caught in the wind. Thanks for your question.
Does this shed leak a lot?
No problems with any leaks
Very well thought out and useful video. Found this interesting how your raised the shed. Have you had any problems of water ingress at the bottom and along shed to breeze blocks surface?
Thank you Koysii, I`ve had no problems with water ingress around the blocks. The base is slightly higher than the surrounding lawn so it will not `flood` onto the base slabs.
@@bristolbadger8305 that's great I'm hoping to get a metal shed myself soon. And when weather permits just been rain rain rain and more rain all month.
@@KoysorMiah That`s great, hope it goes well.
What kind of blocks did you use to add the extra height to your shed?
Standard 9"x 4" Aereated blocks
@@bristolbadger8305 That's good to know, I'll probably be able to get away with just ducking under the door then, thanks a lot mate!
I'm with you on roof height.. the world is made for guys 5' 9" or 10".. from lawn mowers to snow blowers.. if your 6'2"... your are forced to be stooped over.. it sucks...
Nice build, but if you didnt put a condensation barrier between the blocks and metal it will be damp.
I really can't stand it when people say they thought it was taller or shorter or bigger or smaller.. Like do you not read the description of the items you're buying before purchasing it?? Like wth.. 😂
it would have been easier to dig the floor out
All that effort for a crappy yard master shed
How much effort does it take you being a snob and insulting another man's excellent work?
How does the wind effect the side panels when it's windy? Do you get a lot of movement? Does it make a lot of noise?
It gets very windy around here, as you can tell from the problems I had when it was part built, but now that it is complete the side panels and the whole shed is sturdy and not noisy at all.
