So sorry to hear that. Yes, there definitely needs to be more support for parents with TBI. 💙 Thank you for watching and I hope the video was encouraging in some way. You are not alone!
My emotions are so sudden and overwhelming I cannot use any strategies to help. If the emotion suddenly overwhelms you how can you use a strategy? No one seems to be able to tell me this. I have become very desperate about this. I have tried mindfulness, breathing exercises etc. I have tried medication. I don't get ANY warning when the emotion pounces on me. I have no one around me to support me. HELP.
I'm not sure, but try yoga and meditation, it will take a while, but you gotta build the muscle memory. try to look at yourself from the outside and find what and how you look before or just when it starts. You gotta learn to parent yourself and act on it right away. I have no one to help me as well. Walk (vitamin D), eat healthy (figure out what works for you, can take years to figure this out), take breaks, lots of breaks. It can take me days to recoup or get ready for just a small talk or meeting. Take your self out of the situation if you can. For me its tough since i freeze up and become a stone. This is where the meditation comes in with rational thought. Take the anger/emotion put it in a object of the mind and let it go into the sky. Away from you. It is a butterfly. Watch it flutter away. It doesn't control you.
Breathe in slow hold Breathe out slowly and pause Four square breathe Five times Repeat as needed. If hyperventilating breathe into a paper bag or I just breathe into my pillow sometimes. Practical and effective Thank you Grana
4 square breathe to count of 1 2 3 4 5. Repeat till breath is regular and you are calm. Also maybe a drink of water or something to eat . Avoid dehydration or low sugar. Take rest as needed. Kiss Keep It Simple Sweetie!
Amazing! Everyone should be able to express emotion safely and people need to be okay with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I attend a mindfulness group and find it quite helpful...
Being kind to myself... Something i desperately need to work on...
We got this
Trying to parent after my TBI was the hardest thing my family has gone through. I wish there had been more support in place for my child.

How about strategies while at work?
yelling out the holy rosary seems to help for me. ie. chanting like a monk.
I'm happy you can even work and help others still!
I feel like just staying in my apartment and in bed all day sometimes...
