Jonathan nolan himself is a great director. Person of interest, Westworld and now fallout. He directed some great episodes. If he does TDK 4, that’s 1 billion dollar film ready for WB
He said he would love to return to Gotham. Why would it have to be centered around Batman.. it could be red hood .. nightwing.. Damian.. Court of owls.. Gotham is endless
instead make a new Dark Knight, i wish and waited James Gunn do collab with Christopher Nolan for DCU, like MCU did with Sam Raimi, it will be awesome and i hope they do it since Nolan usually make a movie under WB
The Dark Knight is not just the greatest Batman movie of all time, The Dark Knight is not just the greatest superhero movie of all time… The Dark Knight is the greatest movie of all time, nothing even comes close, it is undeniable
I’ve seen plenty of movies, but I can say that the dark knight is in the “discussion” for sure. It’s not just a perfect movie, there are plenty of those but this movie just went for it. It transcended the entire genre and gave us maybe one of the best performances we’ve ever seen
@@kevinsmithfan37 I’ve seen A LOT of movies, and I’ve seen all the big movies that are constantly put in that discussion, and I can say with complete confidence that none of them even come close to TDK, they really caught lighting in a bottle and it’s something that’ll never be replicated. Heath’s once in a lifetime performance, the perfect opening scene, the relentless pacing, HZ & JNH masterful score, the beautiful yet grim cinematography, there is not a single flaw in the movie. It’s number 3 on the IMDb top 100 list already, that shows you just how many other people agree, and while the 2 movies above it are great (Shawshank and Godfather), neither one of them are close to being as perfect as TDK
They’re going to kill all goodwill with Batman having a third iteration if they did entertain him continuing that series. Arguably that would be a fourth Batman verse in play with Todd Phillips Joker also its own world that has a Bruce in it
Wouldnt it be Joseph Gordon Levitt starring as Batman if any Dark knight continuation movie was made? A dick and damian movie? But Dark knight Robin as Batman and Damian. Thats your batman and robin?

Here's my opinion: if James Gunn's DC universe does happen to somehow fall apart within those minimum of 3 years, I strongly suggest DC Studios and/or Warner Bros. to highly consider convincing Christopher Nolan back into the DC universe, BUT NOT ALONE. If the Nolan brothers want to continue with the Dark Knight franchise, they must hire Alan Ritchson, because he's the only actor who's capable of literally destroying the average Joe physically single-handed (plus, he's tall and all he needs is to dye all his hair black). And when I say not alone, I'm referring to the Nolan brothers considering luring in Denis Villeneuve as one of the heads of the DC studios (maybe vice president). Then, we can talk about hiring actors/actresses who're optimal for the rest of the original 7 members of the Justice League.
Why not? John, you're often more wrong than not. If they're planning on Brave and The Bold being an older Batman who is introduced to his biological son Damian, this fits. Bruce had a night with Talia. Ten years later she returns (after a visit to the Lazurus pit) to introduce father to son. As they did with Justice League, Bale's Batman is the hardened leader of the Super team. Murphy coming back as Scarecrow with the Legion of Doom. They bought back Keaton decades later.
The Dark Knight is my favorite movie of all time and The Dark Knight Trilogy is my favorite live action Batman movies of all time. So if Johnathan Nolan were to make a fourth sequel with Christian Bale, I would definitely be on board. Hell, I would even own it on DVD with the first 3 films. The Villian could even be The Riddler or maybe even Black Mask. I think a Christian Bale Batman movie with Black Mask as the main villian would be interesting.
Same here man. I grew up with the dark knight trilogy and they're some of my favorite movies of all time. Bale is my favorite batman. The best batman movies ever made. The trilogy arrived when I was 6 years old and made a batman fan, I've been a batman fan ever since.
If Jonathan is going to do a continuation of the Dark Night trilogy, and he want's to have Christian Bale return as Batman/Bruce Wayne, would Batman Beyond be ob the table?
This is my opinion but their are other batman villains that have not been introduced into the dark knight franchise and can't forget the bat family this could be a good time to introduce them 🙂
It would be hard for Christopher Nolan to come back to that franchise...I think “The Dark Knight Rises” has been treated as its endpoint, and different Batman stories are being told now...🐱🐰
it was the endpoint for bruce wayne, but it did sort of tease at the end that 'robin' was inheriting his legacy. A story that explores a batman successor of sorts could be interesting.
That would be cool but I bet you John would not care. John thinks nobody wants a Batman that is not Bruce Wayne. That’s why he never cared about Batman Beyond.
It makes sense to me because Christian even said himself that he always believed he didn’t quite nail playing Batman and a lot people think that rise ls is the weakest movie in the trilogy so it would make sense for Christian to get redemption of trying to put out his best version of Batman but also a testament to the writers and directors to see if they can make a better movie from the last one
Dark Knight 4 is never going to happen anytime soon because it all hinges on Christopher Nolan coming back and he's quite definitively saying he's never coming back. I am sorry it would never beat Infinity War and Endgame Hype or even it's Box Office. Warner Brothers has done to much damage to DC in the last few Years.
I don’t know if that’s a good idea. The Dark Knight Rises had a pretty definitive ending for Bruce Wayne with him leaving with Selina Kyle and Gotham believing he’s dead. Another sequel would just undo that happy ending and I don’t think anyone wants that.
That character was an homage to Robin, but I think the idea at the end is that he inherited the mantle of 'Batman'. What he does with that is open to any and all interpretation, though. I think it would be kinda fun to see what kind of Batman a former police detective would be. What if he approached it like a police officer and didn't work alone, but within a tactical team of other former, disillusioned officers, kinda like the Sons of Batman from 'The Dark Knight Returns'? I think everyone envisions a return to that world as 'how does Bruce Wayne come back as Batman this time?', but I think there's gotta be a starting point with John Blake in there...
Batman is DC … I’d argue way more than Superman is and ever will be. Imo it’s a huge mistake that this new Gunn verse is being lead by Superman over Batman
He was asked about that and said "to me, it will always be Christian", so I took that to mean that it would be set in that universe. It's probably difficult to write different versions of the same thing with any real artistic integrity. Hans Zimmer expressed that with his DCEU Batman work, saying he struggled with connecting to the Ben Affleck Batman in his motifs because his creative output with Batman is geared towards those TDK movies with Christian Bale.
The thing that I love about the dark knight aside from the fact that it’s my favorite comic book movie ever is the fact that we as fans have to stop tripping over casting of characters until we get a chance to see them. One of the absolute best moments ever in cinema for me. The way he looked, his subtle eye movements and his voice were stellar but kudos to the score because that deep tone that immediately followed stranger was absolutely adrenaline pushing you into a movie that at that point you just knew was brilliant
I would love to see Jonah do a time period Batman movie. Set either in 40,s 50's, or 60's... or do adaption of Grant Morrison return with Dick Grayson as Batman, Damian as Robin.
Im here for it if it ever happens but im 100% sure it wont, you could tell christopher nolan felt burnt out and tired of the world by the 3rd, he said as much.
Oh I think it would be fascinating if the Nolans and Bale (and Oldman, Murphy, and Hathaway) returned for one more movie about an older Bruce on one more adventure to save Gotham. Nolan would not make it if there wasn't a great idea, and even though I can't personally come up with an idea, I bet they could!
@@mattboesch8907 Maybe Nolan could explore the idea of family. Bruce is older now and has a family, which is something he's always sought after losing his parents. What happens when his family is at stake or his duties as a father clash with Gotham needing him one more time. I don't know. There could be something there as a story, if Bruce was a father to a teenager in the movie set 20 years after TDKR. The Batman has a legacy in Gotham after TDKR, but what is Bruce's legacy as a man? Family would be a big part of that.
I can’t say this with certainty, but with the right team and material, I think Christian Bale would do another one. They can’t wait forever though. Could do a totally new story unconnected to the previous films. Christian is 50 so if they do one 5 years from now, it could be a DKR thing.
What is this man talking about? Doesn't he know that every month, there are 6 independent Batman titles that come out in 6 part issues and each issue come out, once a month or every two months or some times every 6 months if there are delays? Studios are dumb if they think casual fans don't understand different Batman stories, simultaneously being told independent of each other.
I think Jonathan Nolan was talking about if he could go back to that time of life that he would do it again. I don't think he meant he wants to the return to TDK universe post-Christopher Nolan.
Not happening. Nolan just says things like this to capitalize off success that he previously stole. Nobody likes a nepotist and plagiarism is bottom of the can garbage.
3:32 my thing is we’ve had countless animated versions of Batman some at the same time, I see this as no different. Give him a mini series or something if he truly wants to
It is different though. What works fine with animation doesn't mean the same is true with live action. The mini series idea is a no go. Chris Nolan won't do TV, and Bale won't return for anyone except Chris.
The upper heads at DC will NEVER allow it. Simply based off the fact that they don’t want to be embarrassed by the absolute titanic hype fans would get behind it. Not to mention fans would absolutely die for a continuation of this story way more than anything Gunn has announced.
When Gunn and others have used the term "Elseworlds" in regard to The Batman movie or Todd Phillips' the Joker movies, it makes me cringe a bit. An Elseworlds story takes place outside of continuity, allowing DC writers and artists to explore concepts like Batman fighting Jack the Ripper in the 19th century, or the Justice League protecting feudal Japan. Yes, the Joker movie(s) are a little different but mostly because it is missing Batman and other rogue's gallery villains. The Batman movie is straight up year two of the original Batman story. Nothing "Elseworldly" about it at all. When I hear Elseworlds, I think of Batman By Gaslight; Batman (1989): The Blue, the Grey, and the Bat (1992); Batman: Brotherhood of the Bat (1995); Batman: Crimson Mist (1998); or Superman: Speeding Bullets (1993); Superman: Kal (1995); and the Flash's Original Flashpoint (1999); among many others. A Victorian detective, Bruce Wayne, investigating the murders of Jack the Ripper. What if baby Kal-El had been found by Thomas and Martha Wayne? Any and all of these storylines would make very entertaining films and actually be a true Elseworlds presentation.
I don't want Gunn's DCU to fail, but I do think its very possible it will. Superman has to be their Ironman in 2008. If not, I do fear for the worst. In that case, I do believe WB will be desperate enough to revisit the Nolanverse, among other things.
Stylistically its too close to Reeves universe imo. Matter of fact, I'm thinking Batman: The Brave and Bold will probably counter the dark, realistic world of Reeves Batman so imo there just wouldn't be room for that
I would absolutely be down for maybe a return to that trilogy given the fact that it’s arguably the best superhero trilogy in history the only one close is avengers-infinity war. I think they could definitely grab Joseph Gordon levitt and make a good 4th movie
First thought he's wants to do Batman Beyond since two recent work has been futuristic apocalypse stories. Yes, I know long shot but it could happen in my lifetime.
@@juanluismendoza8655 yes that is true that’s where it left off .. that would be a cool route to go to center on the rise of Robin since essentially Batman died, or that’s what Gotham was led to believe
@@juanluismendoza8655 yeah that’s a good question . I do know fans have been asking for a proper Robin on film but I can’t really see Gordon Levitt being that proper Robin to be honest
I think TDKR territory would be great. We only got glimpses in Z. Snyder’s DCEU. I see a few options: 1. The Nolans, Bale, and Goyer come back for an aged Batman who has to take the mantle back; 2. Jonathan Nolan joins the writing team for the new James Gunn Batman movies (or even the Matt R. Elseworlds Batman); or 3. J. J. Abrams has a habit of leaving PJ’s early. Put Jonathan Nolan on the Caped Crusader team with Ed Brubaker, Matt R., and Bruce Timm. Actually, there’s a fourth: put him on Daredevil. That’s a gold mine.
Didn’t The Dark Knight Rises already kind of feel like an adaptation of the Dark Knight Returns? It had Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement to become Batman again and facing opposition from the police.
This is like the possibility of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4... It is Nolan's univers more than DC's. It's a dream yes ! I even dream Sam Raimi and Nolan (Christopher and Jonathan) work on a ' Batman VS Spider-Man ' movie ? ! ? ! ?
Would love to see JGL and a new trilogy, how do you not see where they’d go it? He’s the new Batman, not Robin. Bruce said Batman can be anyone through the whole film. Really curious how that played out in fantasy land and villains that crawled out we never saw. Blake needed lots of training too.
That is true. However, I don’t know if that will appeal to audiences. John thinks nobody will want a Batman that is not Bruce Wayne. That’s the main reason why he doesn’t care about Batman Beyond.
Minus the first one. The dark knight trilogy is excellent. Leave it be. What he should do is Batman beyond. We haven’t seen that character or Bruce Wayne yet.
@graymoon3000 I think it still holds up, it's definitely the most comicbookie of the trilogy so I can see why you would say it wouldn't hold up tho so respect your opinion
@@thomaspaterson1354 Isn’t Batman Begins considered to be the definitive movie adaptation of Batman’s origin story? That’s probably why they haven’t done another origin film ever since.
Who would not want to go back to a successful project during the turbulent times in the industry? A fourth film would make a billion dollars in a snap.
This is basically like the Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 situation, where it seems like no matter how many years pass and how many different incarnations of the character they do it seems to always be an internet pipe dream, even though there’s 0 reasons to believe they’ll happen the internet will always cling to the possibility, and so no, it won’t happen nor should it happen, but I just know that the rumors will never truly die
Not exactly like Spider-Man 4. Sam Raimi wants to make Spider-Man 4. I don't think Chris Nolan wants to make another Batman movie. At least, I don't think he wants to make one yet. He's point-blank answered the question in the recent past and said "No." Maybe one day, once he's done all his original ideas and the DCU Batman along with Reeves' Batman have both run their course, he might have a different attitude towards it, but, yeah, I can't see Chris Nolan wanting to do that anytime soon.
It's not that surprising that he would want to go back because Jonathan is the Geek in the family and Christopher is the nerd. So while Chistropher moved on for more nerdier projects Jonathan has been picking geekier projects so going back to DC fits his tastes.

Bring in Hush. Or Black Mask or somebody that could give Bruce a run for his money.
Please Mr Bale play Batman again
Bale Vs Phoenix "The killing joke", see you at the Oscars!
Bale did say he would return with the right script
What is this man talking about? Doesn't he know that every month, there are 6 independent Batman titles that come out in 6 part issues and each issue come out, once a month or every two months or some times every 6 months if there are delays? Studios are dumb if they think casual fans don't understand different Batman stories, simultaneously being told independent of each other.
the master will return ? hell yeah.he could do perfect movie again
The Dark Knight Returns part 1, just sayin
I think Jonathan Nolan was talking about if he could go back to that time of life that he would do it again. I don't think he meant he wants to the return to TDK universe post-Christopher Nolan.
Not happening. Nolan just says things like this to capitalize off success that he previously stole. Nobody likes a nepotist and plagiarism is bottom of the can garbage.
hush or red hood would have to be the villans if JNolan came back.
For bat man barge and the bold film
Gunn is a Nolan hater though.
That's not really accurate. Gunn just wouldn't do Batman the way Nolan did. That doesn't make Gunn a Nolan hater.
@@christopherbrown5023 Yes, look up the tweets sir!
No one say's no to batman
The upper heads at DC will NEVER allow it. Simply based off the fact that they don’t want to be embarrassed by the absolute titanic hype fans would get behind it. Not to mention fans would absolutely die for a continuation of this story way more than anything Gunn has announced.
I feel like it’s the opposite. If Nolan wanted to come back WB would drop everything and give him whatever he want.
@@inshal6420 I would hope so but seeing how much they hyped up Gunn and his whole new “vision” it makes me wonder
Make it Batman Beyond!
Same thing I wish they would try for Firefly.
Maybe write a spin off film but focusing on someone else but in this world
Didn’t the Dark Knight Rises tease something with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character?
@@juanluismendoza8655 yes that is true that’s where it left off .. that would be a cool route to go to center on the rise of Robin since essentially Batman died, or that’s what Gotham was led to believe
@@SmokeWithMeInCT It seems interesting but the question is would audiences care to see a movie about his character instead of Bruce Wayne?
@@juanluismendoza8655 yeah that’s a good question . I do know fans have been asking for a proper Robin on film but I can’t really see Gordon Levitt being that proper Robin to be honest
@@SmokeWithMeInCT It would have been possible if he was younger. Joseph is 43 years old now.
I think TDKR territory would be great. We only got glimpses in Z. Snyder’s DCEU. I see a few options:
1. The Nolans, Bale, and Goyer come back for an aged Batman who has to take the mantle back;
2. Jonathan Nolan joins the writing team for the new James Gunn Batman movies (or even the Matt R. Elseworlds Batman); or
Nah give us Batman Beyond, Terry Mcginnis mentored by Old Bruce Wayne already!
It could end as a westworld sketch
Minus the first one. The dark knight trilogy is excellent. Leave it be. What he should do is Batman beyond. We haven’t seen that character or Bruce Wayne yet.
Minus the first one? Are you saying that you didn’t like Batman Begins?
Nope it was ok when it first came out but compared to the following two no longer holds up.
Agreed. You gotta admit the following two were for better than the first which to me is a good thing and makes the trilogy complete.
Batman Beyond make it so
I get the feeling if it were to happen it won’t be Christian Bale, but JG levitt as Batman or maybe nightwing
It ain’t “Dark Knight” without Christian Bale. That would be a terrible move in my opinion.
@@24klogan86well your opinion is stupid. A great story is a great story no matter who is playing the character… you don’t have to like it or watch it.
Why only now?
Who would not want to go back to a successful project during the turbulent times in the industry? A fourth film would make a billion dollars in a snap.
He could write for the Andy Musetti brave the bold Batman
The Dark Knight Rises stunk of studio interference. I don't really care to see a continuation of that
Go watch your cookie cutter marvel films
TDK trilogy sucked sorry but not sorry
Someone trying to be different
