I'm so intrigued by your cyclical set ups instead of monthly. I feel like I'm sitting here with popcorn watching how it plays out for you before I decide to adopt it for myself 😁😁
Glad the cyclic business interests you! I’m finding it working well so far, though I think it’ll take a full quarter (or two) for me to really know how it’s going 🤔
I love the choice you made to share your process from the original theme idea to what you ended up with. It's so nice to see someone who a lot of us are inspired by or see effectively as someone who has clear, cohesive ideas and strategies for her journal having a bit of a wobble getting there with it. Not that you don't ever feel human, Jess, because you're one of the most relatable creators I've found in this community, but I hope you understand my respect for how you showcased this. I'm absolutely in love with your cyclic setups. I'm almost at the stage of doing the same method as I've been mindfully watching your experience and gauging it against my own in my journal. The small change to fortnightly overviews for me has been very beneficial so I can see more than just one week at a glance. I think by March, I might be giving this a go!
Thanks Chelle! 💜 I know that plan with me videos where everything’s planned in advance make for an enjoyably concise video, but there’s also the risk of making things seem easier than they actually are (if that makes sense…). I like that by sharing the process, even if messy, it offers a little behind the scenes of how we get to something that works 😝 Excited to hear that cyclic planning has you interested! 😄
Love the cut off with putting the coloured paper on the back so you don’t loose a lot of space! I was afraid/timid about trying dutch door, waterfall setting. It could be a great way to use into it! Thanks for the inspiration. Love the red and black theme.
Thanks! 😄💜 yeah I appreciate that I didn’t have to be careful about the placement of anything underneath the Dodge door because it wasn’t actually going to be seen from the cover page when I was finished 💪
Omg yes!! I am so glad you showed the " Bloopers" too. I often stick pages together and start over i actually did redo Jan the second week of the month because i just wasnt feeling it.
I love the theme. I find myself using red, black and white several times a year with different themes. I also love the way the dutch door is accomplished without losing space. That's a game changer for me since I usually include my printed on sticker paper trackers on that second spread so this will work perfectly!
Love how it turned out! I really respect how you pushed through not being happy with the original spread. After a few years of successful bullet journaling I fell off completely because things weren't turning out perfectly. It wasn't until I discovered your content that I recovered my passion for journalling. I think you're honesty about when things aren't working as well as you'd hope really helped a lot.
Glad it’s been helpful for you to have me share that 💜 I’ve certainly had ebbs and flows with my practice, but I know if I can find a way to make myself at least content with how it looks, it’ll still prove useful in the end 💪
I like your dutch door paper backing idea. I dislike when one side looks great but then you turn the page and see all the stuff behind it. I don't know why I don't think of that when I am plotting my spread.
Haha thanks! 💜 for me this time it was more of a mistake than part of the process, only because I had to completely change the process to accommodate the mistake 😂 but I’m not mad about it, at least things turned out looking pretty good! 💪 Glad you liked it! 😄
This looks amazing! I have bujo envy! 😂 I love these washi tapes, and I have them myself, so you've given me some awesome ideas for my own journal. I especially love the colours, and how well the red dots worked on your monthly spread. I love dot pens!
Love that you showed the footage that didn't work out. What is the white sticky tape you used to cover mistakes and stick the black and red pages? (Between your last video and this one I went over to Blick art store and got the Tombow 990 brush pen you used for the alternating lines. It's so useful. Thank you for all of these tips!
I did the same method for my February cover sheet. I did a dutch door with the paper on the back of the same paper. Except mine was a beauty and the beastish rose in a glass case with a snowy background. Im gonna use a gray snow and roses stickers pack, im so excited
Thank you so much for leaving in your initial start up challenges. I sympathise with the struggle but really appreciate how much effort you put into being real. It’s why you’re my favourite RUclipsr! Well, one of the reasons. Love how this turned out. Red, black and white with that washi was so simple and yet made for a beautiful setup ❤ BTW how do you keep your microns from fraying when ruling in your lines? My tips keep bursting into little fans! I’ve moved to a uniball signo and love how black the black is, but forget to wait for the ink to dry! Plus EXPENSIVE 😅
I love this theme! I'm grateful you put the struggling in the video... I feel less alone 😅 I have my theme for February and I have chosen the materials but I'm struggling to put it together
I feel you 👏 I know that the materials I initially selected are going to make a very nice theme, just not for this one 😝 hopefully your selection ends up working out for you 🤞
Ok.... Firstly GORGEOUS setuup! I have an observation & what is probably a secret squirrel a query of sorts. There are a considerable number of checkmarks next to your course tasks so Bravo for making what appears to be significant progress!!!! Now for my query (which maybe secret squirrel Goal /course related so please tell me to take a hike & wait for the course if necessary lol) )How do you differentiate your cyclic goal action items from you workoutputs? Is there a certain criteria that you have for putting a task into one or the other.
Technically speaking, something can be both 😊 e.g. last year a goal of mine was to release a bullet journal basics series, but all of those outputs are videos so would have been placed on a work outputs layout as well. On the actions list I would be more vague about the step (like “schedule videos”, “plan talking points”) while on the work outputs layout(s) I’d break each video down into a more detailed checklist of steps (scheduling for each individual video, planning for each individual video, etc) I like to keep my actions list more “streamlined” in terms of what’s written there while my actual full breakdowns of tasks come a little later 😊
I really like this layout and am copying it but with different colors and little foxes instead of the fish. I am LOVING the Cycle and Fortnight planning. It makes everything so much better in my world and hope that you keep it up for a good long while. LOVE LOVE LOVE More info on the tape that you are using please? I can't find it on the tombow site but it looks so smart for when I need a clean glue line near the edge of a page. I am off shortly to rewatch the previous fortnight one again. I am debating whether or not to use cyclic or redo my future log and just go to the 14 days plan. This is so fun and I adore it. I do want to see more fortnight planning but also - don't want you to kill yourself :) Be safe, have fun and THANK YOU
A friendly reminder that this year is a leap year, there are actually 29 days in February this year. I messed up my bujo grid, so just giving the friendly reminder so others don't make my mistake!
I’m doing cyclic, so only 28 days for me 😊 January was also a 28 day setup, which is why this one starts on Jan 29th 🤙 Hope that anyone who is doing the month of Feb as a whole though doesn’t forget it! 🤞
Love your stuff. One of my fav channels. February has 29 days this year. Did you make enough days? I couldn’t tell. I’m going to do a page inspired by yours. Love it!
What font size do you use for your headers when you are making your own. I have tons of fonts that I'd like to use but I'm never too sure what to make them at. (And can't afford alphabet stickers). Also - brilliant to see you re-doing a spread, it shows us how to fix things when ours gets wobbly. With the cyclical setups I tend to call them what the majority of the month is - so this cycle is February Cycle which includes the last three days of January. We're habituated to using the month as labels, so I kind of still do it. Also did you do printing on a brown paper bag? Genius!!!
Nice to know our cycle labelling lines up 😄 And yup, printed on a paper bag! When it comes to the font size, that’s what the grid lines help for; I measure the space I want the header to fill, then make a table in Microsoft Word with those dimensions 💪 then I can just set the font size so that it fills that space nicely 🥳
as i’m watching this, i realize that now that im back to bullet journal but not 100% (mostly just habit trackers and annual collections), i could totally use the cycle approach too 🤔
love the theme. but can't wait for the maps! I've been wondering how you would deal with the whole monthly set up thing, while working on a 4 week cycle. youre lucky that you have the majority of the cycle in one month. mine started on the 22nd Jan to the 18th Feb, so it didn't feel right to do a monthly. but I find this every year for myself anyway, because my cycle starts on my pay day. it's great to see how someone else does 4 week spreads!!
Oh that’s a cool way to place your cycles! My pay days are date-based rather than day based (eg 5th of each month) so that wouldn’t necessarily work as well for me, but it makes sense 👌
@@JashiiCorrin yes, it's easier to do it when you get paid at specific intervals, rather than dates. But I found a few years ago, that I just never knew the date, the month, or when I was being paid. So switched to a 'pay day cycle', and I've never been better with keeping track. I can actually tell you the date now, how many cycles we're into the year, and everything makes so much more sense for me. I've always found months stupid though. Damn Romans!
Actually, you arrived organically at a perfect theme for Lunar New Year. It's the Year of the Wood Dragon on February 10th. Another excuse to get dim sum! 🐉🥟😋
that’s such a good idea of the dutch door frankenstein (i have no idea what to call it lol) also i recently read a book called into the flo and it talks about how woman naturally work better in a 28 day circle so it’s interesting seeing your take on it (with realizing it or without realizing it)
The faux-Dutch door 😝 at least that’s what I’m calling it. Reminds me of those cartoons where somebody would open a door and there was a brick wall behind it 😂 sounds like an interesting book!
I'm now kicking myself for not using red and black paper and putting the fish in a ring! AH well i'm happy with my setup using the same sticker sets. Your set up is gorgeous :)
Hi, I really love your videos, and when you showed us your mistakes at the start of this video I remembered how I royally messed up my first page (for me, it's my year at glance) of 2024 bujo XD This black and red theme is beautiful! Can you tell me the name of the font you're using for headers? It's really lovely. I'm looking for a font that would go nice with asian themes but can't find anything to my liking.
I’ve not had that problem yet, but this is also the first time I’ve made headers with my new printed 👀 something to watch out for. I totally end up getting in transfer from the ripped Blackout paper though; that’s an issue I’ve noticed before
I'm not sure how to message you privately but someone made a fake profile with your pic and commented on my comment to your giveaway. I just wanted to let you know so no one does anything nefarious acting as you. ❤
I'm so intrigued by your cyclical set ups instead of monthly. I feel like I'm sitting here with popcorn watching how it plays out for you before I decide to adopt it for myself 😁😁
I did a variation on it quarterly and the cycles are two weeks and it’s working so well for me and my adhd 😅

Wow, you were quick to use these washi stickers! Love them! And love you for showing us the whole process, not just the shiny result 💜
Glad you liked it! 💜 yeah I wasn’t planning on using them quite so soon, but the universe had other plans it seems 😂
Omg yes!! I am so glad you showed the " Bloopers" too. I often stick pages together and start over i actually did redo Jan the second week of the month because i just wasnt feeling it.
I quite like this theme. White, black and red is so effective together.

Jess, love this simple yet pretty setup. Where do you get your different fonts fr
for printable headers? What program are you using to print?
I nab fonts off free font websites like 1001 fonts and DaFont 💪 type out what I want in Microsoft Word and then print from there 😄💜
Awesome. Thanks for the tip😊

Having some trouble with my planning as I watch this. I feel jinxed
Oh no 😝 shoo that energy away! 🧹
I love the idea of a black, white, and red theme, but every time I've tried it out in my own journal it just reminded me of pokeballs lol
Maybe you should lean into that :P
if it's reminding you of pokeballs, go with pokeballs! Sometimes embracing the theme that's jumping out at you is the only way to go

Have you ever had a problem with washi tape going bad left used?! If so, anybody know where I can get rid of the smell of them?
Hi Jess! Do you find the black ink from the printable headers transfer to the opposite pages? That’s what happens to me.☹️
If you have a thick enough width of sticky tape you can put that over the paper so they just look like stickers.
