I don't understand why so many fishkeeping say that a new aquarium have to be circle for about two or three weeks, then check the nitrites and nitratos, pH and I don't see that you Carson's do that...

2 small for african ciclids and pictus catfish and the topfin is to help cycle the tank not get it cycled in 1 day

The tank looks amazing!!!!!
Although the bacteria starter does help and cycles faster it still takes 3 - 4 weeks to properly cycle. Because of the addition of the bacteria it will start producing nitrate quickly so you need an ammonia balance but you'll get a spike in that. The nitrate will spike and ammonia will spike untill it finally balances then you could add fish. Another way to quickly cycle is to put cheap fish that produce ammonia or putting food in the empty tank to break and turn into ammonia. That'll make it maybe around 2 weeks
What kind of fish are good for cycling a tank
@@ANTONl027 any fish really, Minnows and guppy's are the most popular because of how inexpensive they are. They may survive through it so you might have some extra fish

@@ANTONl027 you could, it's just no guarantee it will live. And might as well use cheap fish. Besides this method of cycling a tank is usually looked down upon and you shouldn't do it anyway because you shouldn't put a fish thought the pain of ammonia poisoning and over nitration, it's always better to just put fish food in or use pure ammonia with good bacteria or old media filter
I have African chiclids and I have that blue and black one and a couple other ones and love the vid crazy how nice you were to your friend setting up that tank with him

en bänk I watched the whole video and did not see him adding anything to the water, and even if he added bacteria, that’s still not cycling cycling a tank that big is going to take at least 2-3weeks
True it takes at least a month to cycle even with bacteria classic beginner mistake!

Guys he added benifical bacteria, but the problem is the the top fin bacteria isn’t a good bacteria, The only ones (I believe) that actual work are Dr tims, tetra safe start, fritz turbostart/zyme, and seachem stability

BelugaKing all of those fish will be moved to larger aquariums as they grow :)
Also you need more Africans than that and a larger aquarium due to them being so territorial and picture catfish must be kept in groups of 5+
yeah all of them are better suited for a 60 to 75 gallon

I like your videos and what you do. But cichlids need larger tanks than a 29, unless he is planning on getting a larger tank. Do try to give the tanks longer in acclimating than a few hours. It can stress fish out.

Hey Carson, I just bought a 20 gallon tank and I wanted to know if I could fully fill up my tank to the top for my Hatchling RES, but it also worries me that my RES could drown when he sleeps. Also I built his basking area with egg crates above my 20 gallon tank. So if you could give me some advice. P.S: Love your videos, keep up the good work bro.
Make is about 2 inches under the black rim so turtle dosnt climb out and make sure the uvb bulb is half in the basking spot half in water so he can get out of the water without uvb and also get uvb in water
