The players refused to train, because they saw that the portuguese football federation wasn't sharing sponsorship money and prizes with them, and there was no communication. So, when it ended, the players were (unfairly) blamed by the press and the federation banned some players for the Euro 88 qualification. Nowadays the federation is mostly blamed for his medieval approach to the situation.
