I skied this marathon as a 23 yr old American working as a Chef in St. Moritz the winter season of 1984-1985. It was one of the best experiences I had in my lifetime. I started with the "Volksgruppe" over the 10K range but ended up finishing at 2:54. During the last 10KM I hit the "wall" and finished on pure determination. Wow!

I participated in this race and really enjoyed watching this and reliving the route. As a 'popular' skier who starts later and finishes much, much later you do not get to see the elite skiers racing and it is amazing to see how they effortlessly they tackle sections that you found so hard and how fast they are. The commentary was excellent and informative but I would question the assertion that the last 5 kms is all downhill, In my experience it ts very up and down with a negative camber and the most difficult part of the course for most of the participants .....Thanks for putting this video on RUclips.
