    Your videos are some if not the best on RUclips for fishing salmon. In your earlier videos, (I’m close in watching all of them) you use a 2# hook with a 12 size cheater? Is that still something you use, or size 4 hook with the 12 size cheater ?

      @fdl362 Thanks 😊, and yes, if the water is really fast then I will use the no2 combo to get it to sink lower, faster the water the higher up it will push smaller lighter gear. So in bigger rapids I may use the beed and no4 or a cheater with a no2 hook, to keep it just above there eyes. GOOD LUCK, let me know how do!!

    Dude you rock, I put 2 coho on the back after taking notes from your video. Got em right in the lower jaw and tounge. Lost less lead and corkys than I ever have. Thank you Steve!!!

      @stickygoodness Thanks, glad you found it,,I'm really enjoying the results in the training part of the videos..massive people are having the same success 🙌 lots of different river's nor just a fish catching vidoes. If you can,post up some success pics on our FB channel. I made it just for you guys and to book trips for people who are newer or just want to improve and make a video with me.

    Hey Steve. Thanks for sharing. Is your setup the same for Kings?

    Hey Steve, I can’t find the right “#12 bead”. The 12mm bead seems too big for the #4 hook. By #12 bead does that translate to 8mm bead? Thank you !

      @@steveperdueshowtofishingti2172 that would be great. maybe I’ll get the skunk off and actually catch a fish this time lol. It’s been a rough one for me so far. Only one coho out of the Puyallup so far . One day a week to play doesn’t help either. I’m hoping for a few more when we get some more rain

    Does the line type matter? Mono or fluorocarbon?

    • @steveperdueshowtofishingti2172
      @steveperdueshowtofishingti2172  2 месяца назад +1

      @Zspencer15 excellent question, I'm testing back to back this year, seems like they each may have advantage over other, if you use braid, I'm using mono to have some stretch,,,if you use braid and FC there's no stretch,, for me it's ok, but new people flex out there rods catching fish and no stretch anywhere then rips the lips if not hook well...and one floats better than the other. We will see, but for now I'm slaying with mono, last year with FC..

    Great video! All rigged up with these for tomorrow! Just need to figure out how to get the weight right and how to fish it better

    • @steveperdueshowtofishingti2172

      @benjamindean6485 are you using pencil lead?? It's a game changer, the Canon balls keep you from fishing!!! Had a client tell me he lost massive leaders using Canon balls in the same spot I stand all day with pencil lead and no snags....I'm sure you mean adjusting the weight..

    • @benjamindean6485
      @benjamindean6485 3 месяца назад

      I use pencil yes. More so knowing what weight to throw should I go heavier or lighter stuff like that. Hooked one early today but lost em. Swam towards me suddenly jumped and shook me off

    Hi Steve, thanks for sharing those details. I am still learning. How do you know when you get a fish on ? I feel the bouncing of the weight over the rocks at the bottom and it suddenly stopped bouncing, then I set the hook. But most of the time I got snagged in a rock or a branch or something else not a fish. Can you please explain how you mend the line and feel the fish ?

    • @steveperdueshowtofishingti2172
      @steveperdueshowtofishingti2172  3 месяца назад

      I am making a video on it soon, its a very difficult thing when its not happened yet, how is someone to know when they have never felt it, I understand, for now best thing to do is make sure you pull enough slack pit of the line, and if your getting snagged drop to the next lower weight, like from .4 to .3. Let me know how this helps you, we are always trying to explain different ways for different people, everyone is different and have different experiences. For instance if you ever caught trout when its nibbling or not, those people have an advantage...Have you ver trout fished and felt a nibble?

    • @congluu2704
      @congluu2704 3 месяца назад

      @@steveperdueshowtofishingti2172 I did fished trout but it was bottom rig, I just wait for the fish to bite and pull the tip of the rod. I got a salmon today using your method. I was feeling the dancing on the rock then supprisingly it stopped hard, I set the hook and fish on!!!

      Ok, I posted in the description, but I go over hooks in detail at 9min36 sec and explain if you don't use this exact hook to make sure you match the angle of the eye on the hook you use so it stands up strait.. again I should have had the hook sizes in the video more, so thanks.

    At what condition would you run a 6ft leader

    • @steveperdueshowtofishingti2172
      @steveperdueshowtofishingti2172  3 месяца назад

      @wilsonflanders878 depends on the drift your in, and where the fish are at. We adjust from 2 to 7 ft for a reason, it's not just incidental flossing, if you watch my videos you will see lots of fish with this set up down it's throat,, the longer leader also get the weight away for the bait, which I have seen spook the fish. And depending on water speeds, this is why we adjust and tune them if needed, till we catch fish. Been doing this exact same set up since 1990's,. When fish are in close to edges use a 2ft to 4 ft leader, when in a traveling lane bigger than 10ft use the 5 to 7ft set up. Either way adjustable and why sometimes not all the time you want a 6ft leader.
      When we add eggs to this egg loop, I do not want the weight bouncing 2 ft from it either, so I use 5 to 7 for that.
