The duration of the beam is actually the same on every planet, but on cold planets they cool down faster and on hot planets they take longer to cool down. A cold planet it'll take 5 seconds for a Dagger to fully cool whereas on a hot planet the Dagger takes 10 seconds. For the laser cannon, the ideal planet would be automatons on a cold planet where it only takes 10 seconds to fully cool from a near overheat rather than the base of 16 seconds on a temperate planet or the hot planet cooldown of 20 seconds. The firing time on laser weapons, to be clear, is always the same.

I don't believe not a single word from these devs now, but they should've really implemented upgrade system so this effect can be nullified in end-game. It literally does take more time for those enemies with LC vs a damn AR primary, let alone the diligence CS or dominator easily one shotting these enemies
I think the devs have made it abundantly clear that they find accidentally ending yourself and your teammates hilarious and a core mechanic of the game.
Maybe the Laser Cannon should increase in AP the longer it fires. Starts at AP 3. AP 4 at quarter charge, AP 5 at half charge,. So you'll need some semblance of skill by riding the line between high AP and overheating.
2:00 "How am I on fire, I dove?" The orbital laser scorches the ground like the flame thrower. You got lit on fire by walking into the fire patch, and then dove deeper into the fire patch. In the heat of the moment, I would have 100% done the same, that fire patch wasn't super obvious. I had to rewind the clip 5 times to be sure what happened. Edit: To clarify, the fire patch that was hitting you was invisible. I'm not sure how, maybe the graphic was under the ground. Maybe the fire patch was on the cliff above and hitting you below it. But 100% when you go back to get your gear you get lit on fire in the exact same spot.
Basically an Moba, but in a game like this you cannot play perfectly 24//7 like you can do in those, since you need to focus more on aiming and movement alot more than just timings.

Precision Strike and 500kg are pretty much the only good things against bugs. Everything else is underwhelming against big targets, especially Impalers. People focus on how bots need a nerf, but most tanky bugs survive one shot from anti-tank weapons and there are still 5 of them roaming around. It limits high-level gameplay to running away.
This video highlights my two biggest complaints about bugs: first, Bile Titans are the only enemy in the game that are completely unkillable with only medium pen, you NEED to have a heavy-pen AT weapon or a stratagem at the ready to kill them at all times, and usually with AT you have to hit it at least twice unless you can land perfect headshots every time on the giant stickbug and its wobbly face. Second, stunned Chargers can turn in place, so even when you stun one so you can shoot its butt off, it turns to face you so you can't land those shots. And it will KEEP doing this if you stun it again. Personally I've given up on bugs and only play at medium-tier difficulties to limit Titan spawns, and mostly just kill Chargers with precision strikes.

Way better for bots though, still useable on bugs(which this video proves), just pair the other two stratagem slots with anti tank and you're good to go. Playing with a pre made team and have your teamate feed you a backpack and bring another anti tank option, or even chaff clear.

Laser cannons fire way longer on ice planets, and way shorter on hot planets, beause of their cooling system. Also, with that loadout you can have a neverending laser beam by switching the scythe, laser cannon and the dagger constantly when the weapon you are currently using overheats.

The alphas have weak legs that laser cannon does pretty well against but in general it’s terrible except against bots where it is the BIS weapon against gunships and is passable against everything else
I think if you get blasted in the face with a burning laser beam it should at least have you look away. They always saying realism. Realistically, I don't think living beings would tank laser pain to the face
I've been enjoying the lazer cannon, doesn't require a back pack and never have to worry about ammo, in on go it'll take out 3 armored spewers, it can take out commanders and there larger counter parts, it can kill spore towers and shrieker nests, it will also kill bile titans(eventually, I've been hitting them with a rail cannon then finish off with lazer canon. Also shreds impalers too...
during the cooldown you should be using your sickle or some primary to clear ads. I do a constant back and forth between my laser cannon and sickle to keep the lasers flying during cooldowns
just simply using lasers is fun for me. what isn't fun with them, how despite saying they have high damage numbers (scythe has 350 damage per second) they do hardly any good damage in reality. if they made lasers actually do proper damage, they'd be a bajillion times more fun.
Ngl laser cannon guard dog have become the go to for my weapon for bugs now. It a really good combo and with 500 + OPS I can pretty much deal with anything that come my way while supporting the team when needed.

Weapon mastery goes a long way. Pulse the laser cannon, improves accuracy and heat management. Definitely switch to primary while cooling. Complete ass on chargers now that holes dont open in legs. Great for anything with heads that pop bile spitter heads included. Breaks structures. Great on streakers. Use incendiary nade to help with hunters and chaff. Use stratigems for anything heavy or hope a teammate can deal.
Only way to make this build mildly okay is to keep switching between beamers. Instead of just waiting for your cannon to cool off to shoot the titan, switch and shoot little guys with scythe, then take the cannon back out when that is about to overheat, rinse and repeat all game.
Here’s a loadout that I use all the time I use laser cannon, rocket sentry, auto cannon sentry, and either guard dog or backpack shield, depending on if you’re going against bugs or bots your equipment is up to you, but that is my usual loadout and I get a lot of kills with it. Just throw the centuries away from the bugs but kinda in a high place just the same thing as bots and the next thing you’ll know you’ll have a lot of kills.
Plenty of nice ideas for improving the Laser weapons. But I would go with a simple but effecient dmg buff. It's supposed to be a precise Weapon with which you are supposed to hit the weakspots, but the damage isn't enough to really do anything with it. And the Orbital Laser straight should be much stronger. That Beam is as thick as a Behemoths Body, it should melt through whatever armor they have.
i'm curious about a 500kg p-strike "only" build, maybe allow med1-pen weapons for anti-chaff (nothing that can take out a hulk visor. maybe barrage-build given the buffs received there lately to the 120/walking. TBH if the barrages just landed each volley simultaneously (so last 1/3 the current duration with the same boom-count) i'd like them a whole lot more, maybe even enough to bring one for actual combat-use not just to "soften up" a bigger base or multi-breach.

Try the Arc Thrower with a full squad. Since it's consistency was fixed, I imagine a team of 4 Arc Throwers would absolutely dominate the Termies and the Bots. Considering a Charger dies in like 7 headshots or something. That's 2 volleys... AND it chains between 3 enemies... Might be very spicy.
the support laser cannon is the same trash dps that the scyth gets but with medium armor pen 350dps just isn't gonna cut it in a game where the 600+dps guns are considered bad

Lasers are good for chopping limbs, not for kills so much. Ive also played with laser on on 6, its fun until u get swarmed, which is often. Stalkers are immune to the laser ie takes way too long to kill them

Laser weapons are not bad, they are just lame, as they are just marginally better at long range, but usually you don't feel that against 5 chargers or non stop Hunters, as keeping distance is very difficult.

i went on a random match and i saw there load outs and i decided, sure lets use the all laser load out. And my teamate named Angela (AC user) asked, who would bring a laser on a bug fight? Sure Ac, IB, Blitz, cookout, spear, commando and a lot more are more effective to bugs. Been running on AC, 500kg, OPS and OB as may main load out on 7. And im good at it, and after nerfing the IB, it made me look another way to play the game in a different load out. its just some players are too locked into there own opinion on what is good for them and other should use it too, if not your useless?
Nobody seems to realise you control the guard dog with your camera he always try to stay on the right of your screen i never get beamed by it, i just move my camera to remove the laser from me it’s that easy
Did you take it on a hot planet? It will over heat faster if your on a hot planet. swapping between the Scythe or sickel and the laser cannon it helps manage heat use one while the other is cooling down. Still not a good load out but a fun meme one to use now and again though i never leave home with the gas strike. S2 is asking to many questions Arrow head dont like questions O.O
All of your suggestions for improving the Laser require a ton of excessive new coding that would be a nightmare to implement. The simplest improvement I can think of is just make the Laser pierce a higher and higher tier of armor the more it heats up. Something like 0-30% pierces Armor 3, 31-60% pierces Armor 5, and 61-100% pierces Armor 7. And FFS give it more time to shoot before overheating.
I stg people have started glazing the SCYTHE after the BOnKErS fire application fix that still doesn't raise its DPS over a piddly 400 since you need to beam something for like 2 seconds to apply it. Nevermind that you can barely shoot for 8s without overheating. The thing is still such booty for even the most basic chaff clear, I genuinely don't know what game these people are playing.
Your video concludes the Laser Cannon should have its damage at lead "double" to match the fun of other builds 😂 Two people with 2 Recoiless Rifles can kill a Behemoth under 3 seconds but it takes 4 Laser Cannon to barely do the same thing.

I ran the pissdiver loadout and on numerous occasions carried my team, lasers aren't bad.

The strategy is to use your scythe while the cannon cools off. Keep swapping like that and youre at 100% DPS uptime.

Plenty of nice ideas for improving the Laser weapons. But I would go with a simple but effecient dmg buff. It's supposed to be a precise Weapon with which you are supposed to hit the weakspots, but the damage isn't enough to really do anything with it.
And the Orbital Laser straight should be much stronger. That Beam is as thick as a Behemoths Body, it should melt through whatever armor they have.
Laser Cannon is actual super good against the bots especially with the new fire buff it got last patch.
Everything it does against bots HMG and auto cannon can do better. It’s a meme weapon it sucks ass

i'm curious about a 500kg p-strike "only" build, maybe allow med1-pen weapons for anti-chaff (nothing that can take out a hulk visor.
maybe barrage-build given the buffs received there lately to the 120/walking. TBH if the barrages just landed each volley simultaneously (so last 1/3 the current duration with the same boom-count) i'd like them a whole lot more, maybe even enough to bring one for actual combat-use not just to "soften up" a bigger base or multi-breach.

for laser to work on bile titan. you need to take the armor of off it. so the fire damage will kill it.

the support laser cannon is the same trash dps that the scyth gets but with medium armor pen 350dps just isn't gonna cut it in a game where the 600+dps guns are considered bad

Lasers are good for chopping limbs, not for kills so much. Ive also played with laser on on 6, its fun until u get swarmed, which is often. Stalkers are immune to the laser ie takes way too long to kill them
Laser cannon is good at enemies with popping heads including bile spitters.
Every time someone tells me how "good" the scythe and laser cannon are I will continue to wonder what in the world they are seeing in it or what they compare to.
It is good as a support that your teammate takes the aggro and you pick off the enemy from distance. Why get close when you have all the range.

Laser weapons are not bad, they are just lame, as they are just marginally better at long range, but usually you don't feel that against 5 chargers or non stop Hunters, as keeping distance is very difficult.

@@rocklee5x they are I just added the spead part because a titan that’s simply squishier and move at the same speed would be boring. Plus shredding all that armor at that size would be a massive cut in weight so it’d make sense.

i went on a random match and i saw there load outs and i decided, sure lets use the all laser load out. And my teamate named Angela (AC user) asked, who would bring a laser on a bug fight? Sure Ac, IB, Blitz, cookout, spear, commando and a lot more are more effective to bugs. Been running on AC, 500kg, OPS and OB as may main load out on 7. And im good at it, and after nerfing the IB, it made me look another way to play the game in a different load out. its just some players are too locked into there own opinion on what is good for them and other should use it too, if not your useless?

Nobody seems to realise you control the guard dog with your camera he always try to stay on the right of your screen i never get beamed by it, i just move my camera to remove the laser from me it’s that easy
Did you take it on a hot planet? It will over heat faster if your on a hot planet. swapping between the Scythe or sickel and the laser cannon it helps manage heat use one while the other is cooling down. Still not a good load out but a fun meme one to use now and again though i never leave home with the gas strike.

All of your suggestions for improving the Laser require a ton of excessive new coding that would be a nightmare to implement. The simplest improvement I can think of is just make the Laser pierce a higher and higher tier of armor the more it heats up. Something like 0-30% pierces Armor 3, 31-60% pierces Armor 5, and 61-100% pierces Armor 7. And FFS give it more time to shoot before overheating.

I stg people have started glazing the SCYTHE after the BOnKErS fire application fix that still doesn't raise its DPS over a piddly 400 since you need to beam something for like 2 seconds to apply it. Nevermind that you can barely shoot for 8s without overheating. The thing is still such booty for even the most basic chaff clear, I genuinely don't know what game these people are playing.
It makes me so sad, laser cannon and laser rifle are so cool, but they are just... not good. They aren't even side grades.
Your video concludes the Laser Cannon should have its damage at lead "double" to match the fun of other builds 😂 Two people with 2 Recoiless Rifles can kill a Behemoth under 3 seconds but it takes 4 Laser Cannon to barely do the same thing.
The chargers are a no go for the laser cannon. Gotta have someone or something else for them. It's very good on mediums including bile spitter heads.
