The tape used to bulk up the slugs did two things. First it allowed better engagement with the rifling but it also squeezed the bundle of wires together much tighter and helped to keep them from being shoved out of the insulation.

@@taofledermaus Custom round request: an ounce of Airsoft BBs at UK-legal velocities.
Law says up to 1 Joule full auto, up to 2 Joules other weapons. Table of weights and 2 Joule muzzle velocities follows:
      0.12 g = 1.85 gr @ 182.6 m/s = 599.0 fps
      0.20 g = 3.09 gr @ 141.4 m/s = 464.0 fps
      0.25 g = 3.86 gr @ 126.5 m/s = 415.0 fps
      0.28 g = 4.32 gr @ 119.5 m/s = 392.1 fps
      0.30 g = 4.63 gr @ 115.5 m/s = 378.8 fps
      0.32 g = 4.94 gr @ 111.8m/s = 366.8 fps
      0.36 g = 5.56 gr @ 105.4 m/s = 345.8 fps
      0.40 g = 6.17 gr @ 100 m/s = 328.1 fps
      0.43 g = 6.64 gr @ 96.45 m/s = 316.4 fps
For air rifles, we're restricted to 12 ft-lbf, because that law was written before we went metric, and I've seen a tin of 8.6 gr .177 pellets, so that's approximately US BB size and that means a muzzle velocity of ... how the hell do you work this out in imperial? Ugh. 12 ft-lbf = 16.2698 J, and that's 8.75 gr = 0.56699 g @ 239.56 m/s = 785.965 fps. There. One BB pellet at slightly more than .45 ACP muzzle velocity is legal. Can you hit some things with BB shot at that speed, please?

Would that improve flight stability and separation on impact, or decrease the integrity upon firing so it all just scatters out the barrel?
