Cool stuff, Teik! And like others have said, glad to see you branching out! Boots will always be your bread and butter, but we can't just wear boots! :) I learned something from you, too... the snippet about white wool products being few and far between because of the bleaching difficulty. It makes perfect sense but I never really noticed or thought about it. Cheers, mate!
@@StitchdownShell I have a pair of jeans that people like when I wear them in the videos or on my Instagram account. They ask me about them. I got them for $20 from Target. 😝😂😂😂
I have owned over 50 merino tops over the years (another obsession for a while) in numerous weights and styles from a dozen manufacturer. From 120g/m2 up to 260g/m2 with 180 to 200g/m2 being my favourite. They are legendary for being wearable for a long time without smelling. Plenty of stories of people going on expeditions and wearing them for a couple of months and still able to wear them on the plane home without offending other passengers too much. There are actually a few grades of merino and ultra fine (12-15 microns) is definitely the one to go for if you can get it though I'd avoid the lightest weights in that version. Superfine grade (15.5 to 18 microns) is the next one up and used by good manufacturers like Smartwool. The main problem is durability and they are prone to snagging on vegetation or wearing under the abrasion of rucksack straps . Snagging on zips in the washing machine as well. The addition of nylon or polyester like this version does help in that regard.
Enjoy your videos. The waxed Hudson jacket is great. I bought it a few months ago and have just started to be able to wear it here in the USA. It’s definitely warmer than the flannel lined waxed trucker. I have it in navy and I think it looks brilliant. I wear it on the trails and being navy it’s nice enough to wear to church with chinos on Sunday.
Top notch boot reviews and now top notch clothing reviews. I’ve never been into the Huckberry stuff but I do love me some thick hoodies. If you like the thick hoodie I recommend the American Giant hoodie.
Same! Going to have to work that into my lingo. 😂 Only problem is it makes me think of horror movies, where someone goes off to take a leak and THEN gets a "Slash..." 🤣
Great video! The double YKK zipper is great for wearing it while driving in a car also! prevents the bunching up when seated, i use it frequently on several of my taylor stitch jackets
I love your videos Teik! While visiting Oz the last trip in early August I brought my Huckberry flannel lined waxed trucker jacket and it was the perfect Oz fall/winter/spring jacket. The southern highlands had frost some mornings but warmed up in the afternoon, and we even had a bit of rain. The jacket was excellent there and also in Sydney where it got to attend it's first show at the Opera House - Miss Saigon. Keep up the excellent content. Cheers!
Great video Teik! I'm wearing the same Gray Rover pants. As you were talking about the sizing I was thinking yeah he's right about them being relaxed fit. Then you mentioned the gussetted crotch, knee seam and large coin pocket all features I never noticed before!😅
Some great pieces here and nicely done just like your boot reviews. FYI if Huckberry provided the gear and you didn't pay for it, it is a sponsorship as far as RUclips is concerned, and a written disclaimer on the video would be helpful. My apologies if I misunderstood.
Good on you for disclosing that you were given the items for review. Many creators don't even do that, which is a bit insulting to viewers since those in the US know that Huckberry is the current online 800 pound gorilla of outdoor and "Heritage" clothing. Their marketing is largely done through niche channels such as yours. As a company their rise has been impressive to put it mildly. All credit where it's due, their website is impeccable, everything they sell has a page with detailed descriptions and sizing charts, they have tons of lifestyle type content, and they carry good product lines including their "House" brands. I knew they owned F&T, did not know that Proof was theirs as well. Despite the fact that their goods are displayed on seemingly every channel I sub to, I just accept the videos for what they are, knowing they have a business relationship with MANY good content creators. Hence why I've never seen anything they sell really torn to pieces by creators, even those known to be very critical at times. And much of their product is VERY good as well. I have a 45 Brand T-shirt and one of their Waxed Mill Jackets that I like very much. And I doubly appreciate content like yours, where you're adding value with your research and knowledge. I've watched 4 or 5 reviews of the Hudson jacket, and only yours has shown the actual back pocket and explained the historical origins of it. As an educator as well as a consumer, I really appreciate that level of detail and insight! So thank you, I'm now officially subbed here, and looking forward to more great content! Cheers!
@@BWM135 It’s a tricky situation. I at first didn’t want to do their products unless it was boots, but gradually I got used to their offerings on their website and they are what I wear anyway. Obviously I ensure I say what I want to say and not their party line, and although I will point out shortcomings, I must admit when you’re given goods, if you’re not “happy” then you’re lying, so to SOME extent, you’re biased. Having said that, I’ve been given goods from other brands that I’ve sent back or refused to feature because I couldn’t get past the fact that they were crap, so at least I can say I only feature free products I’d actually use myself!
I bought the burnt orange hoodie earlier this year. It is quite heavy and seems good quality and durable. I definitely believe it will far exceed ten years. Just a note that it’s warm so not necessarily wearable if you live in a humid or mostly warm environment. I’d say it’s best for 60F or below. I went with the Medium so I can layer - and I’m close to Teik’s measurements.

Hahaha... 'goolies'.... not heard that saying for years... made me laugh..
Never knew of Huckberry. Great video will definitely look into these clothing bc of the reviews!
I like the idea of a survival challenge and the test of a full kit is another appealing idea.
Wow.
More stuff to buy!!
I’ll just say my accountant said I can!!
Great review.
Well I’m an accountant. I say you can 🤣🤣🤣
Glad to see you doing reviews on clothing as well. Always enjoy your videos, Teik.
Not too many, don’t really know what I’m talking about 🫣

"...take a slash in the woods." Is that an Aussie expression? Your thorough and informative reviews set the standard.
Taking a piss in the woods
@@Bootlosophy I took your meaning plainly enough but I was unfamiliar with the Aussie argot. Watch out for your boots, brother.

Under RUclips conditions a sponsorship is payment for a segment. Provision of a good for review is not a “sponsorship” but must be declared.
