for the sake of simplicity, for problem 7, I would work it out like this y= 2(x+3)(x-4) then distribute the first parenthesis y= 2x+6(x-4) then distribute the next parenthesis with 6 as the base y= 2x+6x-24 combine like terms y= 8x-24 Following the slope-intercept form y= mx+b, m is 8 and y is 24. So your y-intercept is -24. You get the same answer, but without the exponents, which can confuse you more than it needs to.
Combining like terms simply means adding them together. So -8 + 6 = -2. So that's why the answer was -2x. If you add two terms one negative and the other positive, the answer will always be the sign of the greater number. For example: -10 + 5 = -5 (the answer will also be negative because the greater number 10 is negative.) -7 + 15 = +8 (the answer will be positive because the greater number 15 is also positive.) Now try this and tell me what you get: -12 + 6 = ? (remember the answer should be the sign of the greater number).

excellent way of solving that!!! whoa!
In problem #6 what if the X had a different exponent? How would you use the X?
Thank you 😊
You’re welcome!!
When combining the like terms on the second problem how do you know to keep the subtraction sign and not the addition

I uploaded a video for you. Hope it helps. :)

@@makeitmakesense1504 -6
when I plug it in to the equation on -3 I get -9-6-3. is the negative 6 just a positive 6 being subtracted
on 7 I plugged 0 for x in the equation and got -24 without doing anything else. Is that a right way too?
