Agree with you to a large extent about the deterministic combat in this one... but... the fact that you keep the 'strength' of your units concealed until the battle (although not always the number of them of course) does add an interesting element in its favour!
What is your current favorite North African game? After you get to play Axis & Allies North Africa and do a review how about a best of North Africa games video?
@@robertthurman9866 Looking forward to AA North Africa. I don’t know that I’ve played ten games specifically about North Africa. Song for War is a Med theater game, but it is really good - watch out for when it comes back to Kickstarter.
You pronounced El Agheila different from what I heard on World At War. On that series it was pronounced, “El Agay-la” The looks very simple to play. I would consider if I had room.

@@leemarriott7961 Agreed, and I really like the emphasis on maneuver. But I’m generally not a fan of deterministic combat.
the old game Kingmaker had this "deterministic combat"
Yeah. Many games do. Sometimes it works very well - and it's not bad here. Generally, though, as a mechanic, it's not my favorite.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer slick little mini-game, looks nice doesn't it?
I bought the McDonald's reskin of this game, Ronald's War.
Ha! Was the Hamburgler triumphant?
The way I see it Columbia Games does this block system in a much better way but that just me 😊
I am a HUGE fan of Columbia Games
@@patrickols Columbia Games is great. Worthington has done some great block wargames as well.

Have you seen an advance copy of Axis and Allies North Africa?? Looking forward to your review on it.
@@keenankinder6657 Looks fantastic!
Why was Rommel said to have been the leader of a zombie desert army ?

Because he was the head of the Afrika Corpse.
Ha! I can't tell you how hard it is to get my students to pronounce it "core."

Yeah, I probably butchered it.
