Nice job! I watched someone else do a build on a whippet and found that despite it being a basically useless little vehicle it had such an unusual, distinctive appearance that it catches the eye. I've never wanted to build a WWI era vehicle before but after watching and enjoying your build I think I may just have to add one to my collection!
Thanks Stefan ! Glad your enjoying the vids, there will definitely be more builds 🙂 but my reviews seem slightly more unpopular so I'm not sure on whether to continue with them and just focus 100% on build videos
I intend joining the club - but I have long term covid that has sprung major health issues. Modelling helps with being (literally) constructive and task orientated with results...well, let's say it is early days :) I look forward to seeing more guidance from the 'Master' via RUclips.
Thanks Everett, I completely understand, I know a few folks who have varying degrees of problems due to long covid sadly. Don't fret, more videos to come, and if you do end up popping along one day we are a friendly bunch and the club is growing rapidly !
Cracker build! Love the way the textures brought the vehicle to life, and your use of oil paints! Would love to see more armour builds!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Love this model! I built it about six months ago and wish I had seen yours first for the excellent tips/techniques used to weather the model. Will go back to mine and give it a bit of extra work. Great build, painting and weathering and commentary full of advice. Some more tanks would be appreciated but keep up the aircraft modelling as well. Thanks, James.
Awesome tank build and great techniques. Give that thread a quick flash with a lighter and coat of watered down PVA before paint. Definitely more armor!
Wow. Great work and some great tips included. The finished result is Amazing. Looks like you could jump in and Drive off..! It looked that realistic..! Brilliant work Sir..! Cheers All. 😎
The white and red on the front track plate was so aerial reconnaissance knew the vehicals direction of travle on the battlefield. The use of white on the front of many vehicles was for two reasons really. Recon ,and to Confuse the enemy of their vehicles direction of travle at night as well. Never thought to use graphite sticks , and i have them. Nice effect.
Excellent build, and yes- more armour please! I've actually built this kit about 5 months ago and have never been 100 percent happy with how it turned out. This video has given me some ideas and inspiration to have another crack at another one.
Great build, deffinately like to see more armour, especially if you stick to the more unusual subjects like the whippet, there are thousands of shermans and Germans out there already, so subjects like this really stand out, and look brilliant when finished to such a high standard as yours!!
Thanks Simon ! It's nice to do some subjects that havent had much appreciation. It's always a talking point when you have a slightly different model as well
Well. What can I say. Restarted modelling a couple of years ago after an over thirty year hiatus. My techniques have come on in leaps and bounds, (they were just a tad dated and youtube has been my friend in playing catch up). I usually concentrate on aircraft but I have two afvs in my 'to do' collection, this one and a Tamiya Crusader. I think I will tackle the Crusader first, it's a lot simpler! Your build is just brilliant and if I can emulate just a fraction of the skill demonstrated here I'll be happy. Thanks for uploading, much appreciated. Subscribed.
Awesome build, love the exhaust wrapping, I’ve been after one of these tanks for over a year now but as I get the money together I see a Tiger 1 going cheap and I just have to have it, like giving it a good home, I know sad, have about 11 1/35 tigers five panthers six stug III’S and loads of auxiliary vehicles. I’ve been planning a Tiger 1 convoy diorama for nearly two years now have all the auxiliary vehicles made as well as three of the seven Tigers. Just starting to make some trees for diorama and casting stone blocks for a six foot long wall ( background of diorama ) I’ve over sixty troops to paint up too. So going to be a busy winter. Anyway please keep posting more Armour as your really good at it plus your weathering and colour modulation and your voice over description is brilliant and so easy to understand ( I need things dumend down to the floor for me to take things in 😂😂😂 ) so thanks very much 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 all the very best to you, Kenny 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi James, outstanding. Would love to see more armour builds. You made it look way to easy, but sadly mine don’t look at all like a working vehicle, yet. Thanks for sharing.
Great paint job. Check out the whippet tank at Bovington tank museum, the crews painted false vision slits on the hull to foil the aim of german snipers and give the crew a better chance of survival.
Kit looks amazing to build! Stunning oil work. Love your commentary, very articulate. You're definitely up there with the best on you tube, in my opinion. Bravo sir! Always good to mix it up with the genres, more of everything please.
Makes me wanna do armor! The old WWI tanks were so cool looking. I actually bought the Takom Tadpole as soon as it was announced because it looked so cool. Now I’m gonna have to buy a Whippet.
Hi, it's excellent ! If possible, I'd like to watch more scene of building. But it's very nice video. Also I like your calm tone of speaking. Thank you !!!
Hi James, well there really on two words to describe your Wippet build, 'Absolutely Fantastic' and yes more armour would be great, but then yoh should build what takes your fancy. Keep safe and well in these crazy times mate, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
I think your wrapped exhaust idea is a great one. A possible mitigation to the “fluffy” string problem may be brushing on a thick coat of gloss clear on the string before painting.
Amazing, I build it myself and is a kit to love. The tracks are a little fragile indeed, what I did was, when I finished 1 complete track I put Tamiya 3mm tape on the inside of the tracks, it stays more sturdy and tape is not visible after assembling.
Yes please do more armour, this was a great video. Also as I’ve just started this build myself I know a lot of what to expect. I like the way you explain things instead of just “I did this, then I done this, next it was time for this” etc
A really good build and awesome paint job. I've just found you on You Tube so will do some catching up. I noted you saying that the exhaust wrapping became fluffy. You can stop this by using some lightly thinned PVA wood glue and then wet your finger and thumb with the glue before pulling the wrapping chord between them. This puts a thin surface of glue without soaking the chord.
You could have avoided the muffler(exhaust) cord cover fraying by masking or removing them, to avoid them being soaked by the solvents in the many coats of paint that you applied. I would've used more tan than yellow for the high lighting on the top, but, all in all, you got quite impressive results. The results you got on the tracks are great. I also have to mention the results of the dots of paint on all them bolt heads. By all means, let's see more armour builds. Thanks for sharing this.

Really nicely done! I've got this one in the stash and hopefully it will turn out half as good! Thanks for the build tips- I hadn't even realized some of the parts needed to be bent to shape. Applying some photoetch tricks to plastic! Too cool Meng. I've subed and look forward to more! -Chris
Congratulations on first video. I liked and keep video's coming. Only if you can do something with light, it is bit dark...maybe to use some light coloured background to avoid shadows. By the way I subscribe on to your channel.
I have just started WW1 modelling and this is a greatr introduction to the period. Thanks. I think you may be located in an area close to where I live in north Devon? If so could you tell me if there are members of the WW1SIG IPMS group in the area? I am looking for ward to seeing more of your work. Could you tell me what glue you were using for the kit?
I think at this stage I was using Mig Ammo extra thing but these days I like VMS fast setting glue. None of our lot in North devon are in the sig that I'm aware of sadly :(
Saw this at the tank museum yesterday, it’s definitely going on my to do list, and hopefully I will get as good a finish as you.
James just loves his rivets. Very nice, thanks. (I'm with you on the track links - sometimes a rubber band track becomes very desirable.)
As usual, up to your very high standard and a joy to watch. My only problem is I'm jealous. 😁👍
Nice job! I watched someone else do a build on a whippet and found that despite it being a basically useless little vehicle it had such an unusual, distinctive appearance that it catches the eye. I've never wanted to build a WWI era vehicle before but after watching and enjoying your build I think I may just have to add one to my collection!
Great job James 👍 would love to see more builds and reviews.🇨🇦
Thanks Stefan ! Glad your enjoying the vids, there will definitely be more builds 🙂 but my reviews seem slightly more unpopular so I'm not sure on whether to continue with them and just focus 100% on build videos
It doesn't matter if it flies or crawls on the ground, you make it look great. Yes, please, build another tank whenever you fancy.
Many thanks !
This is one of the best detailed built model I have ever seen... Great work
Thankyou !
I intend joining the club - but I have long term covid that has sprung major health issues. Modelling helps with being (literally) constructive and task orientated with results...well, let's say it is early days :) I look forward to seeing more guidance from the 'Master' via RUclips.

Thanks mate !

Thanks Robert ! Dont worry I'm not losing the aircraft, I have more planes than tanks in the stash !
Truly beautiful, meticulous work. Please post more.
Many thanks !
Awesome tank build and great techniques. Give that thread a quick flash with a lighter and coat of watered down PVA before paint. Definitely more armor!
Thanks for the tip T Paul ! I'll use that next time I have to use any string.
I find dental floss ideal.
Really nice work. More armour builds? Yes please...
Amazing build and subsequent paint job. Well done, you are clearly a master craftsman at creating such a realistic effect. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching !
I just ordered this kit myself so had a browse of what was about on youtube already, just wanted to say lovely finish on this model well done
Thanks Mr Medic !
Remarquable les détails ont toujours aussi fidèles
Wow. Great work and some great tips included.
The finished result is Amazing.
Looks like you could jump in and Drive off..!
It looked that realistic..!
Brilliant work Sir..!
Cheers All. 😎
Wow ! That's a great build, love the shading, inspirational painting. 👍
Thanks Jonathan
I would definitely like to see more armour builds, please. The standard of your painting and weathering is exceptional.
Thanks Bill ! There will be some more in the pipeline
Very impressive. More amour? Yes please.
Nicely done, I'll take note of anything you build. The detail and explanation are perfect. Thanks.
Thank you sir, very nice model. Thanks for including paint color and types.
Nice build I'd love to see more like it. I appreciate the music change. It's a lot easier on the ears
It was a tough choice, but one maybe erring on the more professional

Yes but there are not a lot of Israeli m51 Super Sherman's, or maybe an ft17 ww1 tank, the grandaddy of tanks
Excellent build. The painting and weathering is fantastic.
Thanks Terry !
Ah YES !!! I have this one in my stash... so I will give it a go while looking your video. Thank you !!!!

Very happy to watch any build you care to do buddy
James this was an amazing build start to finish, great work again my friend😉🤓👍
Thanks Dave ! Glad your enjoying the vids !
You did an outstanding job on that tank.
I think your wrapped exhaust idea is a great one. A possible mitigation to the “fluffy” string problem may be brushing on a thick coat of gloss clear on the string before painting.
Nice work and brilliant finish on such a neat tank

Excellent build James. Lots of great techniques. Definitely more armour builds. Maybe a panzer?
Thanks Sera ! I have a sort of panzer thingybob in the works !

Thankyou Gavin !
Fabuleux très
belle realisation
Merci beaucoup !
Nice work James, see you Thursday for a jam bud :-)
Roger that Ghost None see you for guitar shenanigans.
Really good. I wonder if anyone has ever thought of doing a WW1 diorama in black and white to look like the old photos.
Thats an awesome idea ! Black and white has been on the radar for a while, it looks really creative .
The idea of a diorama is to take a 2 dimensional black and white image and turn it in to a 3 dimensional coloured image .
I love these WWI projects. Awesome build!
What a cool model. I'm going to have to buy that one next. Great video too!!
Thanks Tim , it's a top kit, highly reccomended.
@@lpjmodels found out my wife got it for me for Christmas 👍

Thanks Chris ! Meng defiant innovated a little bit here, and to good effect.
That's a pretty damn good build...............
Thanks Benny I love ww1 stuff so doing a ww1 tank was great fun. Thankyou !
Great work , thanks for the video!
Very good result indeed for a first armoured vehicle!
It's looking convincing (although I am not a big fan of the modulation painting....).
Thanks Radu, it's not my first just first video on armor ! Weathering styles aren't for everyone.
Brilliant build
Congratulations on first video.
I liked and keep video's coming.
Only if you can do something with light, it is bit dark...maybe to use some light coloured background to avoid shadows.
