    I rescued a 1991 zzr1100c2 in November 2022. Bought it for £800 with 17000 miles on the clock off eBay. It cost me £170 to have it transported to me and I spent a further £500 on bearings,rebuild kits, service items and tools/ ultrasonic cleaner etc. etc. I totally resprayed it as well, had all the fasteners re zinc plated to get it looking like new. I commute on it and go for weekend rides, camping and I’ll also be doing the ring of red on it. All I can say is wow what a quick and smooth machine it is for the money, absolutely lovely bike.

    I am leaving Norfolk for Manchester in the morning to visit my daughter; I'm glad this popped up in my feed. My old Kawasaki and I love the Snake Pass, just chilling. I'm not keen on the alternative routes and I avoid the motorways, so I'll have to plan a different route and maybe even use a satnav. Last time I did the journey (August) the pass was open and in pretty bad shape, but the thing that really saddend me was the level of deforestation.
    Anyway, I appreciate the heads-up, I'm normally approaching the Ladybower before I see the signs saying it's closed. I'd better get on with prepping my bike... 😊

    • @mymoto-uk
      @mymoto-uk  Месяц назад +1

      Hi James. I hope you made it up to Manchester buy a good alternate route. Whilst I was filming this, a truck full of pine tree logs went past and we have a a local biker hit a sheep recently on Snake Pass because apparently the deforestation of the surrounding area has given some livestock the opportunity to escape. Snake pass is now open again but I believe there are more closures due. Hopefully, they will be able to sure up the road and avoid any future land slips so that we can enjoy Snake Pass for many years to come. Thank you for watching my video and thanks for leaving me a comment 👍

    I try and ride mine all winter, plenty of ACF50. Can't bare going in the garage and seeing a bike. Just sat there. If it's stored for a month, then fill the tank and add fuel additive . Keep mine on mats in the garage

    • @mymoto-uk
      @mymoto-uk  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Nigelsride. I totally agree. I think that by using a product like ACF50 and riding all year has benefits that go way beyond keeping your bike mechanically sound. By riding all year round and in some extreme conditions, I think it helps to not only keep your riding skills in tune but also increase your ability to judge and ride to the conditions. There have been a number of riders who park their bikes up for the winter, then jump on them in the spring and think they can ride as they did after a full summer, only to find themselves getting into hazardous situations. I really appreciate you watching my video and thank you for leaving me a great comment about your winter routine. 👍

      Hi Kriss. Realistically, I can’t see them ever being allowed to let it close when it is such a vital route across the Pennines. Derbyshire council is responsible for maintaining it, but the road serves two cities, neither of which are in Derbyshire. That may well be why it may end up getting closed. For many drivers going to Sheffield as opposed to towns further east like Doncaster etc. it's *the* main road between Manchester and Sheffield; they don't use the Woodhead route as it's considerably longer. Government have devolved too many important roads to local council maintenance when they in fact are cross-country roads.

    • @mymoto-uk
      @mymoto-uk  2 месяца назад

      Hi Indigojo. I agree, main arterial routs should not be maintained out of local authority budgets. Plus, our road tax is paying to keep roads open and well maintained, so we should have a right to object to roads being closed. Thanks for watching our video and thanks for leaving me a comment 👍

      I suppose that is British efficiency in a nutshell. Next step is to find somewhere to put the blame, preferable a foreign country. It's too late to blame the Romans. That leaves you with the Scottish. Let them leave the UK and join the EU and they may repair the snake pass for you. Everybody is happy.

    Trickle chargers, I've got 3 bikes all on 24-7, never had a problem. But it's like anything, you need to try it for yourself. Therythmicbiker used to ride a Triumph st 1050, they don't have a gear indicator. He was told the 1050 won't accept a after market gear indicator. First thing I did when I bought mine was to fit one. That was 4 years ago, it's never missed a beat. Advice is a wonderful thing, and good advice is essential, but sometimes you just need to try it for yourself. I pop in one day when I'm passing. Nice one.

    That tractor was 1cm close to wiping out your bike and you. What agv is that? Is it good for intermediate oval head? Do u commute in the rain in that rst hoodie?
    I leave my bike outside under a waterproof cover, I just turn the bike on to charge battery and thats it. No faffing about with a charger.

    • @mymoto-uk
      @mymoto-uk  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi Steve. When I saw him coming, I was tempted to move the bike back but then it was behind the cones and concluded that he’s probably driven though that gap multiple time already without hitting them. Plus, farmers a normally pretty skilled drivers. It is an AGV AX9, yes, good for an intermediate oval head. It’s actually a duel sport helmet without the peak, it can be noisy with the visor cracked open but the extra room in the chin makes it good for audio with the vlogs. Regularly running your bike is always going to be better than a charger, it sound like you’ve got your winter maintenance all covered. The RST top is a short shell jacket called a Frontline, which has now been changed to the newer Havoc jacket. It’s not actually intended to be a winter jacket but I’ve worn mine all year round for the last four years and with its SinAqua lining and with a few layers, it’s warm and dry. Thanks for watching my vlog and thank you for leaving me a comment 👍

      Hi Crazylegsonabike. It was from a news article that MCN did recently about it recently. The current land slips have got it down to a single lane, with temporary traffic lights and because of a lack of money they have been like that for three years. They are trying to fix it at the moment but I think Derbyshire County Council has said that if there was a land slip big enough that both carriage ways were effected, they wouldn’t have the funds to re open it.
