    Whether or not you like Wilsons (the look and or the sound) you have to respect the engineering and attention to detail. For the record, I think they are the greatest speakers on the planet.

      I don't intend to buy them, however if I did, I wouldn't allow anyone but myself to perform all this work.

    Great job as usual, Adrian. Magnificent speakers.
    Wilson Audio is my personal favourite speakers and long-lasting too. Compared with the Chronosonic, this Alexx V is a relative bargain!
    In my audio room, my Wilson Audio Grand Slamm II speakers from 1998 (with other upgrades to pure McIntosh gears since) are still going strong to this day, but very primitive and less detailed when compared with the Alexx V by design.
    In my home theatre, my 9 Wilson Audio WATT/Puppy speakers (with lucky upgrade prior to pandemic to JVC 4K laser projector, complementary Panasonic 4K blu ray player, Pixelgen, Theta Casablanca IVa sound processor and 2 Martin Logan BalanceForce subwoofers and 13 foot wide screen), are also doing well. Thanks again, Adrian.
    Before considering any further audio upgrade, in order to rule out selective hearing loss and my current hearing acuity to be able to truly appreciate any delicate audio upgrade from my aging ears, my superior better-half strongly recommends a hearing test (with possible hearing upgrade, i.e., hearing aids!). Amen!

    Did you have any difficulties in inserting the tether bolts ? Are they made from aluminium?

    I have installed a pair of the Wilsons for a friend, i followed the installation from the manual to the letter. all distances and mounting for all units are correct, i have a small problem with the top mid unit, the two bolts that secure each mid will not fully screw into the mid. they are not cross threaded any idea what could be wrong.

    I guess my biggest problem with this speaker is that it appears to be optimized for 1 person in 1 location. What happens if more than 1 person wants to listen and how much does performance drop off from the optimized position.

      Higher end speakers don't beam like cheap ones do. From what little I know.

      @@dilbyjones I owned the Watt/Puppy 2 and I'm not inferring these speakers are beamy, my question is all the adjustments of the mid range and tweeter modules are based on an specific location so does performance fall off from that 1 spot or not. It's not a criticism.

    It's pointless trying to time align a multi-way speaker system with a non-minimum phase crossover because it will never be transient perfect. Just look at the step response from the Stereophile review for these speakers. You can't fix that up with physical time alignment !

    • @michaelhope007
      @michaelhope007 2 года назад

      No you can't fix any of Wilsons non-minimum phase crossover faults with Spike No 2.
