This is definitely an easier way to do it. I know most people just use their nails to part of pieces as they braid to make the lines but my nails are way too short for that. and I could never get them even. this is so clever.
no , we pinch! I don't have long nails. I line the hair with edge control or wax to pinch the hair.
This is a nice technique for beginners tho
I've seen people use their nails. pinching did not work for me because the lines were not uniform. everyone has their own technique and should use what's best for them.

i see a few peoples comments on the rubber bands being damaging.
rubber bands are not damaging to the hair.
if you put them in improperly, it will cause breakage! when put in properly you will have significant healthy hair growth.
if anything is put in your hair improper it will cause hair breakage, no matter what it is.
example....
relaxers, weaves, braids, bobby pins*, hair clips, perms, etc.
hair must be moisturized, oild and cared for.
if you look at the video she is not pulling the girls hair follicles with overly tight rubberbands. they were* put in correctly.
now if we use common sence....
dry & rubber...does NOT MIX, in any situation.
a basic example of that would be tire lubricant/oil of any kind.
the rubber of a tire must be oiled bi-weekly, to prevent cracking of the rubber or breaking of the tread in the tire.
in this case,
look at the strands of your hair as the tread in the tire...and the rubber around the tire as a rubberband.
(trying to use visual examples. lol)
if the tire blows out...you cant blame the rubber around it...but blame the lack of care you took for your tires to remain healthy.
If your hair is dry, dead or damaged the rubberbands are not to blame for breakage happening. but it is the fact that you didnt care for your hair, daily...
and in any case....you wouldve had breakage before the rubber bands even touched your hair.

The way you feed in is so much easier and way better for me to understand...I used to just use all the hair at once and that would cause a huge bump in the front but the way you're doing it explains it so much better the feed-in way. Thanks !

You're an artist and you should take photographs of your work and frame them and ask the models permission/ signed contracts and put them up for sale. just try a few pictures and you will see that they will sell put the models in really nice tops or shoulderless with really nice necklaces. of course you can style as the scene however you want but the foreground would be the braids. just try it you're great.
