These cars are perfectly fine. My 2016 has 130,000 miles on it with no problems. Never wait to change the oil until the monitor gets to 0%. Change it at 30-40%. These cars are also ridiculously simple to work on for maintenance. A spark plug service on these is crazy simple for a modern engine. There is also no such thing as “filled for life” transmission fluid. Perform a drain and fill every 30,000 miles.
Did you design the car to make a statement regarding changing the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. I don’t see that in the service schedule.
@@EarlMantis sometimes the manufacturer can be wrong
Seal for life means good to last till the end of warranty. 100 % new fluid is better than 50% used fluids.
The 2016 has an automatic transmission. I have a 2019 with the CVT and it’s horrible.
I got the 2020 malibu Lt. Its cajun red tinted windows and all that plus mine has the lane assist rear camera back up and blind spot. Also so u know the + - on the gear shift is manual shift. U just put ur car in low gear then just push the plus to increase and minus to downshift. I put leds in my headlights and now I have a front camera on my rearview that records all the time. These cars are nice. My car at the moment is getting 40 to 49 mpg. Car is super good on gas. On a full tank the total ive ever had was 565 miles to empty. I also have the 1.5l. Change the oil at 40 % life never let it get at 0. Make sure ur tire pressure is at 33 to 35 all round. And every other oil change replace ur filters. Both cabin and engine air filters. Use only full synthetic oil it calls for. never use heavier or lighter oil.mine is 0w20. 4.6 quarts. Use exactly as it says. Go the speed limit. And on long trips or just a few cities away use cruze control when u can the mileage will shock u. Hope this helps.
How do i knoww the percentage?
@@aguirreaguirre7514 click on ur selector on the right buttons on the steering wheel. Click to right once then scroll down to see oil percentage remaining. When it gets go 50 percent or at least 30 then u need to change. Never let oil percentage get to 0. This will ensure ur engine is staying clean inside thus lesser engine wear n longer life. When u select the oil percentage on ur steering wheel look up at the cluster on the screen ur selection should indicate that ur on the middle tab when u press the left or right buttons on ur wheel. Hope this helps
I have a 2019 with all the bells and whistles and actually love it.It all started with getting a rental after a car accident. I said I got to have one of these and ended up purchasing one.
That’s exactly what this was. A rental. But I’m glad you were able to find one you liked! 💪🏾😤
I love it too. I drove Corolla's, Altima's, etc. For the price I love it. Light, spacious, just enough tech it's not too crazy. Really digging it
I have to admit that these newer Malibus are quite beautiful. I actually think GM is making the most gorgeous sedans on the road of late: love the looks of the Cadillac XTS, Chevy Malibu, Chevy Impala and Buick Lacrosse. These four models over the last 5 years are beautiful to look at.
I Agree actually. But I’d say that my all time fave of these models is the impala. I like the size and I like the power.
@@WrightLyfestyle The Imp is a very pretty car.
Just have to watch going down slopes don't damage underneath got to come down on one wheel first then come down on the other
They look very nice but are awful cars. Careful when buying.
@@Monster33336 I've heard. I've always bought Japanese, but they're such a dime a dozen. These are actually unique compared to Hondas and Toyotas which are ubiquitous.
I just got a 2020 Malibu LT on February 9, 2021. It was one of the leftovers that Century 3 Chevrolet had. I got it brand new. I love it and it was what I wanted.
Congrats on the new car 🙌🏾🙌🏾
@@WrightLyfestyle could you change the engine on the Malibu ? I’m barely getting into cars and i was wondering what you could do to certain cars .
Are they a good car? I’m looking to buy one soon? How do the gas run? Does it take a lot of gas and run it fast? Does it have the Econ button instead
19' Malibu LT also has auto highbeams that turn on when sensor gets little light and auto turns off for oncoming vehicles or when it gets enough light on sensor. You never get flashed for forgetting. Along with the auto stop, it has driver assist keeping you in your lane. Heated leather seats and power seats, power windows and power door mirrors. It has the blind spot sensor warning that comes on in the mirrors. Rear camera for backing up and anti-collision warning light that comes on when it senses the car in front has or slowed down and you are approaching to fast. A red light when illuminate on the driver side windshield. White LED headlights and LED fog lights. Dual temp control for front passenger and driver. The chevy emblem is a black bowtie which is cool. Deep console 4 cup holders and a little slot where your phone can sit. Right between console and cup holders. 4 ports for aux cables and charger. I bought it a couple months ago, it's sleek but like he said it's not very fast. 1.5L eco-tec inline 4 and I've been getting 30mpg/42mpg city/highway. Autostart and fob has a hidden in case fob battery dies. Its a good car if you don't mind not being a road racer. I recommend test driving it during day and night.
👍
Hey I just bought mine a few days ago my I got a 2019 lt... but mine doesn't have auto start did they all not come that way
@@KeepSycklids Not 100 sure but when I was shopping for mine I included auto-start in the options search so I knew before I bought. No biggie tho u can have one installed and even start it from a pho app
My 2016 got 200,000 miles and it’s still running strong.
Man you were doing some riding in that thing lol. But that’s wussup though 💯💯
200k?? Jesus thats impressive
My 2017 has 236,000 and I get it serviced every month. Engine and Transmission are still in almost perfect condition, and the only thing I’ve had to do to it is get a new battery.
That’s impressive as hell! Lol
@@WrightLyfestyle Eh. It sounds impressive until you find out 99.5% of those miles are highway and interstate mileage.
I wish you well on your first car nothing like having a car…. And a lot of responsibility…. I have a 2013 Malibu and I love it…. Gets me where I need to go…. And the sound system is crazy 😜 But yes it’s a good car…. Most people don’t like Chevy cars 🚘 but hey it’s what makes us all different in this world 🌎 if we all was to have the same car??? It would be a bit boring…. Stay well everyone out there…. ✌️
100k miles and already having transmission problems. If you hit any lil thing on the freeway. The grill just shatters
A car is not an investment. It's a tool to get from point a to point b.
You’re right. But it’s also an asset. It still holds some type of monetary value. 🫱🏽🫲🏾
@@WrightLyfestyle that doesn't make it an investment. It loses money every day. It's a necessary liability. An asset is something that grows in value, not depreciates and leaves you holding the bag if you're in an accident that totals it out.
@@FreeHat I know bro. I was wrong. That’s why I said you were right
@@FreeHat but it’s still an asset. It’s a depreciating asset. But you’re correct. I was wrong when I said investment
Great review on the Malibu, I think you should do more reviews on cars especially how crazy the car market has been
not tryna hate but your speedometer shows you get 30 mpg😭 that’s like insanely good
i have the 2019 is the lt but it has a few upgrades like leather seats rear camera parking sensors and its great with gas BUT when you need to step on the gas it does NOT RESPOND is super slow to where it could be dangerous if you need to speed up to avoid something . but it is a nice car good for roadtrips . 😀
One thing you can do to get a little more power and a little meaner sound is put in a k&n air filter
Is their a specific fit , or does it fit most cars m8 ?
@@cixco6140 specific fit,,,you can order from their website
Any problems with the piston rings? My nephew had one and he had nothing but problems with his. Including overheating, sensors failing leaving him stranded
29 and 36 on gas is not horrible all depends on how you drive it
And that’s just estimates. I get 41-43 daily.
And City, I get 35
@@GameTesterDev I averaged 35 miles per gallon going from Pennsylvania to Connecticut to Maryland and back to Pennsylvania. I get at least 32 in the city.

No, they seem to be good cars, I have a 2019 Malibu with 182K miles, drives perfect
They were good when they had the naturally aspirated 2.4... now it's a tiny 1.5 turbo and I think it's a timing belt as well. What a shame
The 2020 model 1.5l have timing chain.
Has to be a 4 cylinder then. I know long trips with lots of inclines are real rough on 4 caliber gas mileage.
Yeah I believe so. But I still be mobbing out lol
for the gas cap what happens if someone opens it when you're not around and they start putting stuff(like rocks) in it because ik that gas cap doesn't have a lock
The gas is horrible?! I have the same car and average around 35MPG and my best is 47 MPG. Come on man!
Well it was a rental lol. Maybe it needed an oil change or something
I get 19 mpg in mine. 😭 but I also drive it like a hellcat 😂😂
What size engine? 1.5l?
I have the exact same car w/sunroof only 70,000 miles on it & lawdddddd knows it’s been giving me so many problems I’ve spent hundreds/ thousands of dollars trying to repair it & still not to my satisfaction & not too mention $500 car payments
I just bought my chevy lt today... it gets 36 mpg highway... all I ever owned was malibus. There good cars period I don't car what nobody say..
Chevy plans to discontinue the Malibu this November. This’ll probably be everyone’s last chance to get a brand new American FWD sedan in their lifetime. Because many European and Asian brands offer many (cheap FWD) sedans and many Americans prefer SUVs over sedans, it is extremely unlikely that any American brand will ever invest in a new FWD sedan, let alone any sedans at all ever again. After this, the only remaining American sedans will be the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 and both are RWD as standard with optional AWD, although they might get discontinued in a few years due to poor sales. The only new American sedan that may ever be introduced in the near future will probably be the 4-door variant of the Ford Mustang as the CEO considered it last month and it’ll most likely be RWD-only as it’ll probably use a lengthened version of the current Mustang’s platform which is designed to be RWD-only. When there’s excessively limited options for something, it’s too easy to pay attention to such tiny details in hopes of more entering production. So this is it everyone, your last chance to get a brand new American FWD sedan. If you want one, get it while you still can before the window is closed forever.
Just bought one of these super clean
I just bought a 2019 for my job cause I’m a union plumber so I be at different job sites I think if you just change the oil every 3 months I also changed my sparkplugs but it’s awesome on gas bro I think I’m gonna keep this nice looking malibu I tinted the windows looks hard and has some balls on it too for a small engine lol I own a bmw nothing compare to a German car but I love it for work
How do you want people to take you seriously with that damn hoodie on
Well i have a 2018 and my ECM went out the engine light came on $700.00 was the cost 🤨

How you say ......I had a 2022 malibu....from 3 year....his milage is awesome........
Did you have any major problems when you had it and how many miles did it have?
Hey Wright I was thinking to buy a Chevy Malibu for driving Uber. I want to drive American and according to the official specs this car has really good gas mileage. Can you give us more detailed info on that? I was quite disappointed when you said it’s terrible, but this video could be very helpful to me. Can you give us your average mpg in city and highway, or just combined would be great too. Cheers man, enjoy your day!
You taking tank size into consideration could be why it feels like your using more gas
Greetings bro from Dominican Republic, I am considering buying one with the 2018 1.5 liter engine and 107k miles. What do you think is worth it?
anyone else have "power reduced" warning, then you lose the ability to accelerate? and not to mention my car has started on its own 3 times when i was in my house (who knows how long it was on). Also, i've only had it a month... 2017 malibu
Did you buy it from car lot or off a person?? Take that lemon back!!
@@WrightLyfestyle car dealership, im taking it to their service department tomorrow
I asked a few people I know that have one and they’ve never had that problem. That’s crazy af
I actually have a 2019 and it did that not even a week after I drove it off the lot. Had to take it back, something was going on w a part in the gas pedal.
@@Queenleah649 I took it back to the dealer and they had the vehicle for 2 weeks, they didn't know what was wrong with it and thought it was the transmission. Then they said they needed to "recharge the system" (whatever that means). anyway it hasnt happened since but now It has been saying "shift to park" when i try to turn off the car even though its already in park
If i did buy the malibu i would get the 2021 malibu LT black cherry metallic color i have a 2016 malibu 2.5 litter now with a cd player in it before they got rid of the cd players and old body structure before they switched to the new look
im trying to decide between a 2019 malibu and a 2016 vw jetta sport. i cant decideeeee they both so smooth
Hmm. Jetta is cooler. Malibu more practical
I like the American car, it’s just that Toyota far too good to deviate my business with them
It's a 4 banger with a cvt transmission. Roughly 175 horsepower
You should try driving one. It drives like a briggs and stratton under the hood. I count 4 seconds easy between flooring it and the car moving. It's a road hazard.
🤣🤣
So i have a problem with my moms 19 malibu Lt every time she at the stop light after she breaks the car shuts off and says shift to parking break and she has to turn it back on
So I have a 19 Malibu and my engine light comes on and engine power reduced sign every once in a while. I think it's a sensor because it doesn't stay on for long periods of time! I've had it checked and nothing.. suggestions?

a car is not an investment, maybe a house is an investment. On the other hand the malibu is a piece of shit. the auto stop function is now stopping before i stop. Autostop wore out my fuel system and left me stranded in the middle of a busy road.

Yeah they don’t get the mileage they quote. I drive the same car, a fuse just popped for the 12v charger, and I’m losing power sometimes while driving. The car does have good space though, I’m 6’5” as well and can stretch out. The car is ok, hate the stop start, mileage, driving dynamics, and little quirks. Love the space, infotainment, and trunk, but that’s really it.
My sister has a 2019 malablu
These Malibu’s aren’t good cars. I had a 15 and now a 19 that I’ve been having trouble with. Did the lemon law on it now I’m waiting to get rid of it. Not to mention soon as I bought the car last year in June 3 weeks or so later I had transmission problems and had to get a whole new transmission. I had to wait a whole month to get my shit back...couldn’t even enjoy my shit after I got it
