I bought a Canon Demi this year and I LOVE it. The photos come out super sharp. The lighter meter works in mine and it's on point. That being said, recently I shot an entire roll in Aperture Priority and the exposure was perfect. On a side note - my husband mentions every time he sees the camera how pretty and "sexy" the camera looks. 😂
Crazy, I just bought a Demi EE17 and I'm having a bunch of fun with it! Honestly, it's my first film camera with a coupled light meter so that may be part of the reason lol I don't think I have zone focusing down because I keep trying to just use the lenses' distance markings and guess instead of the pictograms as most of my photos aren't of people. Also, shooting more expensive films in half-frame cameras is kinda exciting because I find myself a bit less scared of shooting, but still having the restraint to try to carefully choose subjects, compose well, etc. This hasn't yet improved my focusing abilities or helped me not fire off a couple duds or misfires in my first roll lmao
I bought a QL17 for $40 this summer as retail therapy and to prevent me from buying a $500 Pentax17, but while looking at other half frame cameras for comparison I actually considered that Demi EE, and I might now regret going with the Canonet. Great video, thanks for making me jealous ;)
thanks! I love half frame cameras, I bought a Canon Demi this year. It's not a Canon Demi EE 17. My camera doesn't work well, but I was able to take some photos
The early Contax/Pentacon SLRs (Contax S/D/FM) are the best-looking film cameras and you can't convince me otherwise ;) In terms of fast half-frame cameras, I think the Mamiya Myrapid and Yashica Half 17 EE Rapid (both being basically the same camera in a slightly different body) also look very smexy. Another honourable mention to the Agfa Optima-Parat with its beautiful aluminium body panels. Got one recently, and it also feels great.
I have a Canonet, I bought it because I am an idiot. It was my very first film camera that I purchased. I had no idea what I was doing. Because my experience with it was so terrible I won’t be using a rangefinder ever again. I don’t like that I can’t hear the shutter so when it sticks I don’t know it. I wasted a ton of exposures on not knowing if it was even taking a picture. To make matters worse I couldn’t tell if I was in focus or not because that stupid ghost image is not helpful whatsoever. The 1/3 of a roll of discernible images came out looking like hot unfocused trash.
I feel like an autofocus SLR from the '90s or '00s would be a good first film camera. Rangefinders have a bit of a learning curve that might frustrate first time film users.
my little half frame camera is an olympus PEN-EE.S/EL (certainly one of the names ever) but the smolness and film economy proposition is pretty nice. i got 79 shots out of a roll of Phoenix last month. undeniably pretty camera too, especially since i put new leatherette on it.

40? Was something broken????
"The moon landing, I guess." Hahahaha. I also love the appearance of the Yashica Lynx. Cool cameras.

4:08 oh, that's a reed instrument

god I wish it was a rangefinder though
Get the Olympus pen f
I've been considering adding an external rangefinder to mine...
I almost bought a Demi but I opted for an Olympus pen F because I wanted an slr and interchangeable lenses
I think the Konica Eye is similar to the canon demi but sadly a forgotten camera!
Very good and informative video. On point and interesting.
I think they are an amazing little camera. Your’s is quite nice!
The outro 😂

I'm indifferent to Canon's QL system, seemed unnecessary but works. I find Pentax's magic reed thing in the MX and ME Super to be pretty good
Sorry, I find the Canonet QL17 prettier.
Some might say the Demi has god tier looks....
.... I leave now.
