The HBO series is a lot more accurate. If you read Eugene Sledge’s book you can get a pretty good idea of what it was like. Most coral surface and some swamps, a lot of hills too.
The 7th Marines fought through swampy areas of the island somewhat reminiscent of here. However, this attack is supposed to represent the 1st Marines attack of the 200mm gun at the Point, which was knocking out American LVTs bringing in supplies. The fight for the Point was brutal. The 1st Marines attacking had lost all of their Browning machine guns in the landing, so they assaulted using hand weapons and even captured Japanese machine guns. I haven’t seen any pictures of the Point, so I can’t tell you whether or not the battlefield itself is at all accurate, but there were jungles on Peleliu.
@@edm240b9 I believe most of the jungle had been destroyed by the bombardment, though. Postwar images show it as pretty lush, so it's a safe bet that anywhere that hadn't come under intense bombardment would have had at least some foliage. I doubt there was dense jungle as shown here, however.
Uniforms, corrected locations/ dates in the intro to missions etc. There is a link to the original mod showcase video in the description that goes more into depth with the changes the mod has made.
Call it a hunch, but something tells me lugging around a 30lb machine gun and a shotgun as a secondary isn't a super historically accurate loadout for a marine.
God, Treyarch needs to make Call of Duty World At War Remastered to coincide with Black Ops 6!!!
We been asking for it for a decade now. The longer we wait, the more badass the remakes gone be
id rather they ditch bo6 and just make waw
@@jussi8111 Agreed 1000%!!!!
Was Peleliu actually a jungle? In the HBO series The Pacific it looks like the surface of Mars, a giant desert.

I think by the time Sledge reached the island it was already levelled by allied bombing runs
Peleliu had swampy areas which the HBO series didn’t show. The hard surface is coral-reef that covered the entire island.

Call it a hunch, but I just think Miller is THAT guy😂
@@Horgler Miller is built different, he can fire the machine gun holding the barrel without his hand melting off
@@seangannon8086there's a wet wraps around the barrel Miller is holding
@@guts-141 it would still get too hot to hold after like 50 shots. The water would boil off the towel and it would catch on fire eventually.
