That reverse psychology is really good. Every time I get to the end of a video and you say don't subscribe, I immediately want to subscribe even though I'm already subscribed. Good relevant content. Keep it coming.
If you like this content so much you should double subscribe. Thank me later.
For the 3:20 comparison, I like both of them for different reasons
The first one without light has a lot more color and a slight coziness as of its warmer color, I do wonder if we could achieve it with the 600D as to the natural one was just way too moody imho.
EDIT: If i said anything stupid then I'm sorry and I'm fairly new to filmmaking so i might make a few mistakes here and there.
All the other videos I've seen go mainly over tech specs, thanks for putting it outside in daylight!
I just shot 4 days of location. Stormy gray skies and bright sunny days. Interior product room scenes with & without talent. We had a Mole Tener & Senior but ended up using just Aputure 600D & 300D. I'm blown away by their power & versatility. Coming from a still photography background, I like how they have a similar form factor to strobe light heads.
that opening was...Epic. Light. Media. Great video!
Thanks so much!!!!!!
Hey, Vinylize!
This is sick! I live in LA and shop at hot rod Ilya and the crew are awesome and just two weeks ago I was out in AZ and worked with Jarrod he’s the man! Awesome stuff man. Great light
Mn you are the best i was looking for where aputure 600d pro work out door finally you are life saver thanks u deserve more sub
I would for sure use this light all the time. My light set up right now is low end. I have to have my diffusion sheet so close to the subject and still have to use 2 lights standing beside each other. A light like the 600d would be a dream!
Thank You for taking the lights outside during daylight!!! You are the only review to show that.
This is one of the best light reviews I've seen in a while.
Thanks so much!!!
Awesome!!! This channel is a gem!!!
Hotrod cameras is real shit. When I first bought my Phantom high speed camera they did a wonderful job at helping me rig it out specifically for my work as an action sports cinematographer. Dudes are rad.
Nice breakdown. Aputure is killin it these days.
in stock soon in January 8!!! hot booking now~!first order and first ship!!!www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001993635423.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.1.3d4a3fabfFYEh4
I worked with Jarrod once! Small job, but he did great work (and was a great guy).
The 600D Pro is a game changer. I will definitely pick up a couple of them as soon as I can.
Epic Light Media always excellent videos! Probably very good lights.
Awesome hands-on video. Finally we see this light on the field and during bright sunny day.
Most of the RUclips channels only list the features of the light. Thank you.
Thanks so much!!!!
Lynn is back! Yay!
Awesome video and channel. I was getting tired of youtubers talking aaboiyt RUclips studio setups and showing footage of coffee makers and one wheeler skateboards! :-)
Ok, my thoughts on the broadness on the 600d vs. the Joker...add Apertures Fresnel mount to the 600d and now you can choose broadness over spot
Lynn is back. Guess that means you're through your drug problems, good on you mate!
the no light look was better for her skin... I would have either tried to replicate that look with the 600d outside, warming the light up with a gel, and bouncing it off muslin at a 45 degree angle.. and then inside I would have hit the ceiling with another 600d at maybe 30-45% to bring up the interior ambience
You are my favourite youtuber
Lynn is finally back!
Hell yeah I would use a 600d!!! For my own RUclips channel as well as my production company. Absolutely love my 120d mark ii!
Same here, I have a 120d MkII and am looking for one do-it-all light for freelancing
I would use it all the time!!!! Looks awesome. I need two or more. Hi Jared, nice to see you brother.
I would like to own one, but as a student that's still just a future sight. Currently I'm just looking to see what is the best value for my money. I recently got my first Viltrox L116T ledpanel for 35 euros which for me had great value because I can now control light together with a bounceboard I bought right after. By the time I'll be buying a bigger light I might go for the cheaper nanlite/godox variants. It might not be the best light but it'll probably be the best value for me.
Yay. Alex is back!
I know right!! He keeps saying he’s going to quit
Absolutely I would love to own a 600d. I do a lot of narrative work and punching through windows is a staple for so many setups. Single source capability tends to feel more natural I find. And dimmable for effect. I just did a feature with 2 300ds and have done a lot of interview work with 120s and am very excited about all of Aputure's offerings. Not to mention the selection of modifiers (except fresnel makes it tooooo hot). Love HotRod - have learned a ton from their podcast. And your channel is great! Thanks:)
excellent video I really like the image you get, it is so cinematic, is that the ursa mini 12 k? I would also like to know what glasses you used in making the conversation at home, thanks for your help.
That outside shot in daylight before and after was the biggest selling point
I love Hot Rod, I may buy one literally right now
I'm convinced, as you seem to be, that this is going to be a game changer! Especially If it's true that an Aperature 600 Pro only pulls a little over 7 amps at full brightness; that means you could plug two of them into a 20 amp rated electrical outlet, and never be concerned that you are going to blow a fuse. Try to do that with a Joker 800 HMI and you'll be running to the basement or garage looking for the fusebox.
Exactly!!!!!! We should have mentioned that in the video. That really IS the aspect of this whole thing that stands out to me
@@EpicLightMedia Thanks for your speedy reply. I recall a DP writing back in the 1970's saying that he prefered using lights that needed to be diffused with 3/4" plywood; that statement has always stuck with me over the years. Wish I could remember the DP and, for that matter, the book, but he went on to explain many of the same things that you did in your video today. Bravo to you!
Just bought one of these. Can't wait to have a source powerful enough to throw through big dif panels and lighting spaces rather than just faces and being able to shape with floppies and other modifiers. Thanks for the great video and practical examples!
600d is definitely powerful enough to do that.
Love Aputure! The 600d pro is a beast!!!
I preordered my 600D and the F10 Fresnel! I might do a review once they come in... either way I can’t wait to get them!I totally think this is going to change the way we work on set. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. ✌🏻
Ah thank you for bouncing it. That really shows what it will look like. I would have liked to seen it bounced then put through diff but this is good enough to get a sense of what it can do
I mainly use my two Aputure 300X and must say that these are fantastic lights.
Excellent take on why this light is such an important tool, this is the light I’ve been waiting for Aputure to make. When I was shooting corporate compliance training vignettes (having to light large office spaces and hallways), I would have killed to have a tool like this. 1k tungsten and jokers can only do so much before you start popping breakers.
This is the kind of review that really makes people want ro buy the product.
So helpful! love your videos!
I would use this light for filming welding - not wedding, but welding. The welding arc is so bright that without additional lighting it is a white dot on a black background.
Aputure GOD OF LIGHTS
I AM Still waiting for your thoughts on canon C70
Brace yourselves. It’s coming!
I am definitely looking into this light. I have been looking for a brigh light I can use for commercial use and short films and I think this one fits the bill perfectly
Welcome back, Lynn :)
03:25 i think they are for different story moods----
With light: "What a great sunny morning"
Without Light: "Just found out husband was cheating on me."
Lmao 😭
The compare colour of joker 800 and aputure 600 blew my mind seeing how amazing and better joker 800 is . I’m not sure if aputure can give that colour and tone effect after post
lynnnnn is back !!!!!!! 🥳
I can't wait for mine to come in to join the family.
Hooray!!
This is the perfect review. No lighting review is worth watching if it doesn't show me how well the light competes against the sun either outside, or in an interview setting with windows behind the subject.
2:20 That lady must be so over the moon by blasting 2 strong lights directly into her eyes. :-)
I have a Godox 150 and a Aputure 300. Most of the time I find myself using the 300 (including this morning) with a big softbox and two layers of diffusion and further away from the subject.
If you're needing a broad source, I would still go with a FalonEyes RX-120TDX so I don't have to put up with the heavy weight of the 600D Pro. But if I need to push a lot of light into a small space such as a window, then I would go with a 600D Pro (I'm waiting fot the non-Pro version actually).
Great! One more thing I've got to have. Thanks guys
I've been waiting for this light.
for me it is more cinematic without light in the kitchen, the 600D was to bright for a real natural window light,..but all in all great review guys!
600D is amazing i would love to get my hands on this i am tired of not having enough light for my shoots
I think the guy with the joker just didnt wanna admit the aputure was better because of how much he spent on the joker
Obviously, at the moment he is at hot rod cameras buying 2 600Ds 😂
It is really sad how much people used to pay for equipment when 3-5-8 years later they get totally smoked but he does have a small point.
@@TheGalacticWest I'm still waiting for Godox to come up with even cheaper alternative though.
@@TheGalacticWest No I don't think so. It's technology as a whole. The first who bought an 8K red and who used it professionally, made money from it. Now you can buy a Blackmagic 6K. Not far in terms of technology. But for 20 times less money. It doesn't affect the value they gained from their expensive red.
@@adrienpayet 😂
Love the video... and the calculator watch 🙌
Still the best DoP channel ever...
The desire for the shiny new thing is ever-present. I have been waiting for this light but how long will it take Fodovil Pixel to create a knock-off light they did with the 120d? I've got it and it is wonderful. My thoughts.
I like both looks actually, it's shot so well :)
Idk how I missed this but some great info here
really you should start begging people to unsubscribe to this channel. i remember the good old days when you have under 10k subs. you had enough then. what times those where. amazing just amazing.
😂
Yes I would use the 600d Pro.
BRIGHT LIGHTS ARE OUR FUTURE
I brought you up in casual conversation and a person across the room said, "I love them." You've made it. :-D
Did you make a Yacht Rock reference in the beginning too?
Yes!!!!!!!! That’s great!!
I want one. I'm tired of not having enough fire power to shoot outside whenever I want
So many uses for it, but right now I’ll stick to the 300dii. 600D Pro is a monster.
What are the power requirements for the 600 D Pro? I am curious to see the 600 D Pro as a Book Light scenario. Thank you, again for your 600 D Pro review.
Awesome video. I ordered my 600 D pro. Can y please recommend a v mount battery for running it at 100% ?
You should have these guys give their thoughts on the Nanlux: Evoke and Dyno.
A tiny LED HMI, we are in the future Thomas! 💛
It’s true!!!!!
This channel rocks
I'd love a 600d but my business needs to pick up before I contemplate it, knowing its there though is awesome
Love this video ☺☺
I actually have a project that could benefit specially from a light source like this. If it's in my budget, I'd consider renting one.
Def with lights outside the window!!
I’m really curious what that gaffer would be saying if you used the L10 fresnel attachment, since he talks about how the 600d has so much more spread
I do a lot of work with a corporate client that insists every interview be shot against a window. I sometimes need to stack a 300d & 120d together to get a decent balance, but it very often isn't enough.. Client is always happy, but I cringe looking at the footage. A 600d would make my life much easier.
loved the last Interview. But The "pro" think makes it too expensive. I am waiting fpr the 600d with hopefully a smaller control box
Do you even have winters in Arizona?
Never
Does these kind of lights get less brighter after using overtime? Over couple of months/years?
What diffusion are you using on the frame at night time?
The question to me is not IF I need some 600D love in the arsenal. The question to me is--1 600D Pro & 2 P300c RGBWW panels // OR // 2 600D Pros & 1 P300c RGBWW panel??
Hmmm, the Aputure is a broad source while the J800 is a narrow source, yet they both have the same output. If only there were some way to attach something to the front of the Aputure to narrow the beam, like some sort of barndoor type of technology, or like a lens that would focus the beam...ah, but I dream.
That’s what a fresnel lense is for.
I went for an interview for a commercial ad production company as an intern and the producer told me to read 'The Five C's of cinematography'..
What light stands do you recommend for these 600d pros?
Sorry but I don't get the focused beam bit at 6:00...just chuck a bowens mount reflector dish on the 600d and not only is it brighter but more focused too. I think the guy is trying to justify old gear which he paid a ton of money for and now something better has replaced it.
I doubt it. He’s making money with that joker.
I've had the 120d mk2 on my wishlist. I do alot different videos not just interview or talking head format. Would a 600d be a better alternative than a 120d?
So gonna buy this light
Hey man, I think I saw you on one of my course classes on Tomorrow's Filmmakers... Am I right?
Never heard of that but maybe!
@@EpicLightMedia lol, I tought it was you, but I was wrong... my bad...
Wish you guys come up with something as a masterclass or something... I really love your videos!
If I purchased 10 Aputure lights, 120Dii, 300dii and the 300x, and need to have one remote control (which comes with each light), can I control all 10 lights with one remote control? Or do I need to automatically purchase a DMX Board?
You can control them all with a free app too!!!
Now all i need is lots of money to go and buy two of these lights! 😂😂😂
What Kind Of Hazers Were Those For The Night Scene?
I dare you to try that 600D with bleached muslin as diffusion :P
That’s the true test.
@@memcrew1 I sure do agree, lol.
I was about to subscribe but then you said not to at 9:10
Good to see Lynn! Now don't be a jerk and piss her off again.
So, this begs the question: under what circumstances would it be better to buy 1 600 if you could afford 2 300s or 4 120s for approximately the same price?
Have you run it off vlocks?
For the inside shots I actually prefered the one with only natural light coming from the window. It looked more interesting and moody.
With the 600d it felt a little bit flat.
I would love to get one tho, would use it a lot, with big big ass diffusion of course.
