Larry believe it or not my stereo hasn't even been hooked up for twenty years or more,I listen to everything I listen to on You Tube even though I have a fair amount of CD's and I gave away all but a couple of my records,I know you pretty much have to listen to a lot of albums Larry because of what you do on your channel and that's why you know so much and love so many different styles of rock, you really are quite knowledgeable and you know your stuff. Bob.
Interesting topic. I was able to go through my humble CD collection and based on what was still on the top shelf section that I had alphebetized, I was able to determine what I never listened to after the first time, even though I thought of them as brilliant albums at the time. Six of them in particular shocked me: Joe's Garage acts 1 - 3 by Frank Zappa Tattoo You by the Rolling Stones White Pepper by Ween Aladdin Sane by David Bowie Loaded by Velvet Underground OK Computer by Radiohead Maybe it's because a lot of these wound up on compilations that I heard enough of later, but otherwise I'm amazed that I haven't listened to these ones from my own collection more than once.
I love Yessongs. One of my favorite live albums. I enjoy the running order of the songs and the performances. The album that got me into the band’s music.
For me, most of the CDs I don't listen to often tend to be compilations of bands in a specific genre. For instance, until about 3 months ago I had not listened to the compilations of 6 southern rock bands in a decade. I just have to be in the mood for certain things.
I rarely listen to the early Beatles albums leading up to Rubber Soul. Obviously they are great but I only need to hear them probably once or twice a year. Everything that came after the Help album I play frequently.
I tend to regard some CDs like good books, movies or even tv shows. You get a lot of enjoyment from them at the time, you remember the highlights etc., but that doesn’t mean you want or necessarily need to revisit them all that often. Funnily enough I have both of this Mahavishnu Orchestra CDs you mentioned and I haven’t played either of them since 2006!! ;)
I know this may sound crazy but I adore Calling All Station. It’s a mess for sure but Ray Wilson’s vocals are terrific and I love how eclectic soundscapes are. It’s worth another shot.
The Fantastic Expedition is one I have on SACD, it's so good! I love it haha, though I'm a big bluegrass guy. I just ordered a bunch of Miles Davis CDs, I'm trying to get all of his early stuff on CD.
Congrats on 1K Larry..Baby Your A Rich Man….that Dillard Clark album is fantastic..you don’t know Larry🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬love that White Stripes comp…you don’t know Larry🤬🤬🤬🤬.🥰👍❤glen
Congratulations on reaching your 1000 subs goal. Another Miles Davis album that featured John McLaughlin was raw legendary Bitches Brew, which contains a track entitled (what else?) "John McLaughlin."
I drive a truck so I put albums I really like on my iPod to listen to. Agreed on people like Elvis and Badfinger. If they have more than 3 or 4 songs I like I'll get a greatest hits. Put those songs on my iPod but not really ever listen to the rest again after the first time. The White Stripes are amazing, btw. Trying to think of what to recommend for an album. Elephant or De Stijl. The second one they used a certain tuning that's famous from classic blues, has a great sound I like. Can imagine people who like the Stones going for it. And I respectfully disagree on The Doors. Full Circle might be their worst album, but I still like it. Mosquito alone makes it worth a listen for me. Fun and bizarre, right up your alley 😄
Last of album of that kind that I bought was Springsteens Western Stars. The last album I bought (June 2019 the day after its release) in a record store, the last one we had here. Played the album once, grabbed it as digital files, put it back in its sleeve and never touched it again, playcount for the digital files exactly 0. It's not a bad record, just don't like it. I have a few more, even some that I totally forgot about that I own them 🤣
I'm that way with some I. Love Hendrix but haven't been in the mood for over the year sometimes I overplay someone for awhile I was that way with the Beatles my fave band but overplayed them now starting back in swing I have 70s going for the one yrs ago from yes someone gave me tried getting into it I still don't some I'm happy with just greatest hits depending who my problem is i play too much then need a break agree on Elvis have a couple gold comp agree great idea on episode
I didn't like the mastering on that Badfinger CD. All the dynamics are sucked out of the tracks. It's really noticeable on "No Matter What". Maybe that's your issue with the CD. I bought that CD, but gave it away, and stuck with my older "Best Of Badfinger" CD from the mid '90's. Much better mastering.
You won't believe it but you are followed on You Tube by, i think the only fan of Genesis' Calling All Stations,.. Me! I listen to this album loads. However i know it has its flaws i do love it. Banks and Rutherford's playing on this album is great, i don't have an issue with Ray's vocals. I do however see why the band didn't go on. But i think i'ts a great coda for the band.

I have the 90s Badfinger compilation and love it. Somehow I can compartmentalize the tragic circumstances and just enjoy the music.
I love Yessongs. One of my favorite live albums. I enjoy the running order of the songs and the performances. The album that got me into the band’s music.
How does Larry pump out so many great, high-quality RUclips videos?!

Dillard and Clarke BGO CD is marvellous!

I also avoid to listen to Badfinger for the same reason Larry. They had a very sad story, although what i've heard from them is excellent...

I have that album, it's great!
The Badfinger discography is good to great. The compilations don't do the band justice. It is a sad story though. Elvis is sad too.
I rarely listen to my Great White North album by Bob And Doug MacKenzie.
I kept waiting to see Metal Machine Music or Hudson River Wind Meditations!
I only played MMM once... and Hudson is the only Lou Reed album I don't have. No interest in it.
